Kevin Wilson Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Sir, Garcia vs. Cole is on Collision this week, not the PPV. Unless you are predicting an immediate rematch!

Just Adam Bay Bay Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I’m much more hyped for this than Elimination Chamber. I don’t like the Death Riders nonsense but outside of that I much prefer AEW to whatever little Dwayne is trying to do to WWE at the moment. 7
Kevin Wilson Posted March 3 Posted March 3 This show looks amazing, my one complaint is just that I feel like.... this card will be exhausting, as in I'll need a nap when its over as there really aren't any breaks. So far the main card has five title matches, a steel cage match, and two blood feud matches with upper card wrestlers. And AEW tends to not do breaks between matches so it just feels like a heavy show. If that makes sense? Because really almost every match has potential to be a banger, it should be a great show but please TK give me some backstage skits or something to break things up a bit. For some the Mone/Momo match will be a breather since it hasn't been heavily built up but I love Momo so I can't take that stance. 7
southofheavy Posted March 3 Posted March 3 This card is stacked. Really looking forward to the women's matches the most. I can take or leave Kenny, but I love Takeshita and I know the match is gonna be a lot of fun. Totally over the top with some unnecessary shit, but a lot of fun. Mox beats Cope. I hope Christian cashes in and loses, leading to Cope and Christian having a last run as a tag team. 2
stuntmanc Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I know I'm going to be stating the obvious, but when you look at an AEW PPV like this, then compare it to Elimination Chamber, the differences between promotions is even more glaring and it's just awesome. I'll always beat the drum of "just loving wrestling", but It's awesome to me that I can enjoy a "moment" like only WWE can provide with Cena's heel turn and then the following weekend, I can enjoy the hell out of two of the best wrestlers on the planet(in my opinion) in Takeshita v Omega going at each other, combined with just a wrestling intense card. It's just a great time to be a fan of all aspects. I definitely prefer AEW over WWE, but my fandom wouldn't be as complete without the stuff from WWE. I told a friend of mine, with all that is going on in the world, sometimes I think escaping into pro wrestling keeps me sane. 3
JLowe Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I’m actually going to be in Austin this weekend for my best friend’s wedding (at the courthouse) and party. There’s been a bar showing the AEW PPVs, but it won’t be close to my hotel and the rideshare will be more than the PPV (thanks to it also being South by Southwest). If I’m able to avoid spoilers, I might order it when I get back home. I know my wife is interested in the Hollywood Ending and MJF-Hangman. 1
Jenalysis Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Given how hot Toni vs Mariah is and how not hot Mox vs Cope is, unless you've got a ton of crazy overbooking in that match , Toni vs Mariah should be the main. I suspect Mox vs Cope has at least 2 folks or briefcase cash-ins turn between the start of the match and the PPV, which would make it hard not to main. 1 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 Actually in thinking about it and how stuff is lining up... I think Storm/May would work best as the opener. I'm 90% sure she's retaining, so have a barnburner of a match to get the crowd amp'ed and ready for everything else. I'm also guessing Cope is losing because... eh. The wildcard is Christian obviously, but I don't think you end a hyper-dominant heel reign by having a Money in the Bank cash in. So Mox retains and has a big staredown with Swerve as the closing image of the show. Right now, IMO the only people who should take that belt off Mox are: Page, Swerve, or Friedman (in that order).
Craig H Posted March 6 Posted March 6 TK is way too fucking stubborn to have Cope beat Mox. Jay White is going to turn on Edge and we'll see that the DR still have the numbers game. I could see TK maybe not being stubborn enough to decide to move the title onto Hangman (which is what SHOULD happen) or Swerve (still unlikely because his title shot will come before DoN if he beats Ricochet) instead of Darby, but he's not going to loosen up that much to have Edge win the title on Sunday. And this is why hinging everything on Darby and his whims is fucking dumb, and why making All In their WrestleMania set all the way in August is dumb. You're dragging out a heatless DR angle for another FIVE MONTHS just to do Darby vs Moxley and that's if Darby is ready by August and if he can stay healthy. If All In were earlier and everything weren't pinned on Darby then you obviously do Mox vs Hangman at DoN or an earlier All In. I have a feeling we're in for a lot of lolmoxleywins when he beats Copeland, Swerve, and probably Hangman before we get to Moxley vs Darby. Or you say fuck it and have Hangman vs Moxley at DoN anyway and have Hangman win there and forget whatever the fuck Darby is doing and for All In you just look to put on the best wrestling matches. Hell, you could do Darby vs Hangman at All In.
Kevin Wilson Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I'm just ready to do a giant eye roll when Yuta thinks really hard, looks confused and conflicted, and then hits Copeland with the briefcase to help Mox win. I'm just tired of the 'conflicted heel stays heel' thing that AEW has already done several times before (including with Yuta). I'd love for TK to realize the Death Riders isn't working and use all this to pull the plug, but I don't have faith in him doing that big of a pivot. I know there is a large group of fans that don't want Cope to have the title but that is the easiest way out of this, have Mox lose and the Death Riders disappear for a few months before coming back with a different idea. I suspect the opposite will happen - Yuta will stay in the group and they will add another person or two (White and/or FTR). Certainly not what I'd want to happen but it just feels like the most likely outcome. But the rest of the show looks great so I'll just focus on that and whatever happens in the main event happens. 1
SovietShooter Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I think one of the main purposes of the whole Death Riders angle, believe it or not, is to get Yuta over as a major player. From all (legitimate) reports, he appears to be well liked and hard working, which is why he is in the mix with guys that have political pull. It would not shock me at all if Yuta turns on Mox, and we get a Mox/Yuta feud out of this. 2
Curt McGirt Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Interesting thought. It would go all the way back to Yuta uncorking a vein against Moxley ages ago and getting the respect. 2
Zimbra Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I like this idea. Team Yoots up with longtime rival Danny Garcia and some other young'uns to take on the Death Riders while you use Cope/Christian to transition the title back to Swerve and get the belt away from this. 2
SovietShooter Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Another thought, too... I'm not sure what his health status is, but if Christian goes to cash in after Mox/Copeland, and he is thwarted by Luchasaurus, that would blow the roof off the not-Staples Center. 3
Kevin Wilson Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Since I don't think Mox/Cope is overly exciting, to me the "best case" is if they just make the end of the event mayhem. Have a cash in, Yuta turn, Jay White turn, Young Bucks return, Luchasaurus returns, mass hysteria regardless who ends the night as champion. Kinda like what they did at Worlds End but even more chaotic, something really memorable even if its way over-booked. The card is stacked enough they can afford to go a little weird, especially since most fans are going into the match with low expectations anyway. 2
Curt McGirt Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Man that's what Heyman would book, for sure. I really like the dinosaur idea, even if he's injured could he just pull off a chokeslam through a table?

If I recall he had really bad pneumonia that was causing complications so honestly, he may not even be good to run out and do a simple spot. 1
Zimbra Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Looks like he made an appearance at a toy show a few weeks ago and said he was cleared to return, so it's within the realm of possibility 1
Curt McGirt Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Did they ever make Luchasaurus Halloween masks? (or just... masks.)
Zimbra Posted March 7 Posted March 7 They did but they got sued because someone else held the copyright to the mask design. They settled last years but afaik terms of the settlement haven't been released. 1
