🎼 How long before I get in? Before it starts, before I begin? How long before you decide? Before I know what it feels like?

Look, I read the threads.  I know the only thing you cared about last week was Mike Bailey.  But there's lots of other stuff happening too!   Let's explore!

🎵 Where to, where do I go? If you never try, then you'll never know. How long do I have to climb up on the side of this mountain of mine?

Hangman Adam Page and his friend MJF continue their friendly rivalry!   Mariah May and Timeless Toni continue their friendly rivarly!  And of course, Jon Moxley is everyone's friend!  Especially Cope!  (who it seems is even *less* popular of a choice as champ than Mox... that's saying something!)

🎶 All that noise, and all that sound... All those places I got found... And birds go flying at the speed of sound.

Here's the hype video for this week:

https://x.com/AEW/status/1894453267146440718Boy, that sure makes you think Orange/Omega is a mortal lock for the PPV.  And a Bounty match?   I'm more  of a Brawny man myself....

(Remember when Coldplay used to be -- actually good? I mean, sure, this is Coldplay's "Unforgiven 2" since it's the exact same song as 'Clocks' but tbf, Clocks was great.)

Enjoy the week!

Re: FTR, if they went with Moxley, there definitely be a chance for them to work their Midnight Express imitation as real heels. I guess FTR Gun would have to be the silent Bobby Eaton who just says "yeah" in the promos. Maybe Marina can start carrying a tennis racket.

Coldplay does get mentioned in this video.

NIN and Dillinger did this at Bonnaroo that same year and it was fucking awesome. Better Lovers is nice and all but I miss a Greg fronted Dillinger Escape Plan, in the same way that I miss a Howard fronted Killswitch. Their original singers just don’t do it for me.

At least NIN is back, though.

and my attempt to stay on topic is… I kind of wish Hangman & MJF would form a nasty heel tag team and go on a tear. But I’m also okay with all of this if it leads to Hangman coming out of this (mini?) program and moving onto Mox or something. Way too soon to have MJF back in the title hunt.

Actually, you know what… MJF & Ricochet versus Swerve & Hangman needs to happen at some point. Give me that as a tag feud. My god, the annoying levels for an MJF and Ricochet promo would be off the charts. Let them both trade Jimmy Rave’s robe back and forth for entrances, too.

'Speed of Sound' is much better than 'Clocks' imo - much better ensemble piece, the drums are better, the way the bass come in on the second verse is great, and Buckland has much more room to work in terms of textures and hook lines....the way it takes its time in building to the first chorus.......I don't even like Clocks so I find it really funny that their best record gets overlooked because of it, oh yeah and because that throbber Chris Martin doesn't like 'Speed of Sound' for some reason lol.

They're obviously building to Hangman and Swerve teaming but I sort of hope they take their time about it.

I LOVE this idea!

I'm hoping I'm not alone in wanting Hangman and Swerve to perpetually hate each other and only maybe possibly join forces ONCE for extremely high stakes reasons...

I'm not a big fan of tag partners that don't get along. It's been done to death, and IMO nobody did it better than Chris Candido and Lance Storm.

Yes, have these two just always there, no matter the alignment,  ready to throw hands but keeping a distance to focus on other issues. "Unlikely/feuding tag partners" is way too much of a WWE booking idea and I hate it when they do it.

Also, I'd be willing to say Coldplay has three albums I really am a fan of. The first two and Viva la Vida.

Didn't catch up on last week's thread in time, but loved Jericho/Bandido again on Collision. Their first match back in 2022 was one of my favs that year, so I was glad to see them deliver another good one. Julia/Queen also ruled.

As a fan of Speedball, I look forward to his eventual debut. Loved all of his TNA run.

Also "Clocks" will always be my Coldplay fav for the 2003 Kurt Angle return hype video, that was epic at the time.

For whatever reason, I don't mind it for one-offs or short runs, but I HATE when the heated rivals win the Tag Titles together. i think Swerve and Hanger would do a really good job with a little angle like that, though. Like, "I fucking hate you, but I hate them more and I hate losing most of all."

Nice line-up. Takeshita v OC should be a barnburner. I expect (the worst) a finish that leads to a first fall 3 way title match. Keith v Ospreay should be a nice showcase for Bruv. I'm curious to see what Purrazzo can do with Harley. Can Hanger and MJF simmer the feud along? 2 very good MJF promos in a row would suggest it could be time for another of his low hanging fruity misfires. Swerve/Nana/Ric talkie could go either way, but they do have some momentum coming in. Garcia dropping Dad Magic and Cold Hand for the Revivalists is a good move. FTR/Garcia v OReilly/Strong/Cole should be a helluva deal! I wonder where and when and how they'll debut Josh Alexander and/or Mike Bailey?

Gabe Kidd on AEW TV--just in time for me to start focusing on raising my daughter who was born last week and never watch this cesspit of UK rape apologists ever again.

I'm almost as intrigued by how Dynamite will be booked (particularly w/r/t interference and clean finishes) as I am excited to watch the action. In particular: We've got two big matches with Don Callis Family heel angles. Both *could* be great. I think Orange vs Takeshita will main event and get a ton of time, and hopefully (hopefully) they will save the run in beat down save extracurricular stuff for after the finish. But with Bruv  vs Bountyquickerpickerupper I think there's a stronger chance they just use it as angle advancement. HOWEVER, if they go to the ground and do some mat work it could be an excellent chance to.show off an underrated part of Ospreay's game.

Also, I am happy that The Bounty Hunter will be hunting an actual bounty here.

Probably, I'll edit in my thoughts in this post after the show, but hopefully (hopefully) it makes sense that I am really interested to see how they run those two matches (particularly after Collision last week was all clean finishes with a very refreshing minimum of horseshit booking).

EDIT: YEAH BABY! ALL CLEAN FINISHES AGAIN! I'M LOVING IT!!

We didn't get a lot of mat work in the Bruv match, but it was nice and stiff and I dug the Misawa colours and one black elbow pad.

The main was GREAT maximallist wrestling, and Orange even did some classic comedy wrestling.

I thoroughly enjoyed Outrunners vs Monsters, too. And the outside sequence in the trios match. etc etc etc...

AEW is well on the way to winning me back, now!

I'll maybe save my thoughts on "now it's personal" and friends "shockingly" turning on friends (which is where Nana/Swervs/Ricochet seems to be heading) for a potential future navel gazing post. Keep this post positive, because that's definitely how I am feeling now.

Hats off to Orange for keeping The Giving Spirit of Brian alive in AEW! What a match. LOVED that.

What's the story about this?  I've never seen Kidd before and something about him turned me off while watching Collision.  Maybe I have shitty dude-dar.

Anyone know why AEW is really going out of their way to not say "Jimmy Rave"?

I don't know, but it pisses me off. For god sakes, TK. You own the footage, use it!

He defended Sid Scala after he was accused of a lot of things by Mariah May. Sid sued her, as well. Ospreay said Kidd was going through a "mental health crisis" or something.

Things I Remember from this week's edition of AEW Dynamite:

MJF does a promo while getting a tattoo removed

Hangman shows up late and squashes a dude

MJF beats the hell out of Christopher Daniels offscreen

Don Callis has a suite and Kyle Fletcher looks like Trench

Don Callis is also talking to Chris Jericho earlier

Bryan Keith is back to unsuccessfully hunt bounties

They let someone named Starks on an AEW show for the first time in a year

Outrunners win after their opponents are distracted

Swerve and Ricochet are gonna wrestle for a title shot, which feels like it might tip their hand about who wins Copeland/Moxley, unless they do the Christian cash-in thing for the second time in two years

Daniel Garcia loses and has to wrestle Adam Cole as a result

Copeland and friends show up to beat up members of the Death Ryders and Willow takes part. Also got another "heels distracted by the entrance" spot

Harley Cameron is back to do stuff in-between the 90 and 105 minute mark of Dynamite

Cope and friends making sure the ambulance leaves

Cassidy and Takeshita doing some big moves in the kinda illogically formatted tournament to face Kenny Omega

We have a hard out because the USWNT is after this Dynamite

EDIT: I guess it was a good idea to not have "Copeland teases hitting a woman with a chair but lets Willow do it" happen in the last segment directly before women's soccer.. also because the Death Riders closing shows is meeeeeehhhh

IMO, it was already obvious Mox was winning. Swerve winning the title shot isn't going to give anything away.
