More to come... probably?

Royal Rumble has always been my second favourite WWE PPV/PLE behind WrestleMania. Surreal it's in February for the first time ever.

Ever since I was a kid, the Royal Rumble is and always will be my favorite event.  The surprise entrants, the nostalgia entrants, the "ironman" entrant.  It's always the best to me no matter is going on with my fandom and where my tastes lie at the time.  I can't wait for it every single year.  This year being no different.

My favorite WWF/E event was usually a tie between the Rumble and Survivor Series.

My favorite Rumble moment will forever be Ax and Smash drawing 1 and 2 in '89 and going at it until Andre enters at 3.

I plan on it first time in Indianapolis as well

If you want to go the fancy/expensive dining route, St. Elmo's Steakhouse is a must, especially the shrimp cocktail.  If you're looking for the best burger, hit up Working Man's Friend for lunch.   It's cash only, they're open 11-8pm on Friday and 11-2:45pm M-Th and Saturday.

Funny thing with me and the Royal Rumble is that Coliseum Home Video rentals was basically how I ended up seeing most ppvs, so Rumbles were never my favorite rentals because I already know who won the Rumble and there weren't as many matches. Once the Network era rolled around I was basically only subscribing for NXT but the Rumble started to become the event that I would watch even if I wasn't following the product because it was almost always going be fun.

I'm definitely biased, but my favorite rumble moment was Cactus Jack and Funk drawing 1 and 2 and beating the brakes off of one another for 2 minutes.  Just something so different, also Foley entering as all three personas was amazing.

I had to double check what year that was, 1998, and in doing so, was shocked to be reminded that Vader was in that rumble and eliminated by Golddust.  WWE was not kind to Vader at all and that isn't an insult to Dustin/Goldust at all.

It's the only PLE I still go out of my way to catch as it happens. Casino Gauntlet has helped ease some of that jones, but it's still the best #1 night event there is.

I know it’s not for two more weeks but who’s everyone guessing to win the Rumble matches? Based on the rumored world title matches for Mania I’ll say Logan Paul for the Men, and I haven’t seen anything rumored for the women yet but I’ll guess Becky to put over Rhea at Mania again.

Do people released from AEW typically have non-competes, or could Malakai/Aleistar Black be a surprise return (assuming the stories of him being done are true)?

Think the thing is that people just generally aren't released from AEW, so there's not a whole lot of past situations to look at. Even if he was released and doesn't have a non-compete, I would be surprised if they put him in the Rumble just because I would imagine they'd want to figure out what they were going do with him first.

If a contract runs out, there isn't a no compete. So if his contract is up by January 31st he would be free and clear. But early March is when I last saw people mentioning. They just decided to ice him out because they know he won't be coming back.

Cena up for the men's, no idea for the women's. Jordynn Grace maybe?

Cena vs Cody & Gunther vs Jey Uso. (Punk vs Roman as an attraction) for the men. Rhea vs Becky & Tiffany vs Jordynn Grace for the women (Jade & Nia vs Naomi & Bianca for the women's tags).

Unless the Rock's recent face appearances were a fake out and he comes in to win at 30/31 for massive heat I'm guessing Punk wins. There is too good a a heat moment for Cena getting thrown out late into the match to pass up. Beyond that the story for at least this first half of his run is about him trying to get the title one more time. Him in his last Elimination Chamber is absolutely going to be a selling point for that show. With Punk he is up there in age and very likely still wants to legit main event Wrestlemania. No reason to not do that now with there being two night. Him vs. Gunther or Cody works.

Not sure Becky even comes back in the Rumble. I don't see them having her win it or challenge Rhea again regardless.

Grace will still be too new a name to win with there also being a decent chance of her actual destination being NXT despite a rumble appearance. She won't be a big sell with the main roster audience, but he vs. Vaquer or Giulia would be for the NXT audience.

I'm assuming Charlotte makes her return at the Rumble, and possibly Alexa and Carmella if the two of them aren't done.

There's more heat and story in Cena trying to have one more big run but coming up short in the big moments. That and him winning the rumble a third time would be an awful move, but having him win EC or something to get a Mania shot wouldn't be the worst idea. Punk/Gunther would be a great match and even though the face vs face dynamic or a Cena/Cody program would be off a little, I could see that having enough gravitas to be a marquee match. I say strap a rocket to Jacob Fatu and put him against Roman (maybe have him cause Roman's rumble elimination) at Mania.

I was thinking about the potential surprises, outside of main roster returns and NXT people. On the men's side I'm thinking Hendry, Nic Nemeth, and an outside shot of Cardona. I can't come up with that many names on the women's side outside of Grace and Masha. It would also be kinda cool if they had someone from Noah, even if it would obviously be a bigger deal in Japan than it would be to the fans in attendance.

I want Jacob Fatu to enter at #1 and throw 29 other pieces of trash over the top rope. Literally, not figuratively.

I want Bron Breakker vs. Jacob Fatu at 1 and 2.

Me too, and then I want Bron Breakker to be the 29th piece of trash thrown over the top rope.

For those in the area, it appears J*e H*ndry will be signing autographs at an Indianapolis convention the weekend of 1/31 - 2/2.

I can't imagine he'd be doing anything else that weekend except maybe checking out that nice steakhouse downtown.
