The Natural Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I'll be skipping AEW WrestleDream 2024 unless it's shown on ITV in the UK like last year's surprisingly was or great WOM. None of the matches appeal to me.
Log Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I, like a lot of us here, don't get excited for Chris Jericho matches with really anyone. I'm starting to think that matches with him are sort of these "checking an item off the bucket list" thing for a lot of wrestlers, though. I think the term "legend" gets thrown around too much in all sports and entertainment these days, but Jericho is a pretty legit legend in pro wrestling. He's wrestled everywhere, and been successful everywhere he's gone. I think for a lot of the guys in AEW, having a match/feud with a guy who they grew up watching, and may have even influenced them to even want to become wrestlers is a big deal. I still ain't watching him, though. But I'm happy for those guys if its a special thing for them. 3

Zimbra Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I read Collision spoilers and it's a pretty damn good question mark. 1

The Natural Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Yeah, I won't be watching unless ITV show it or has great WOM. I don't want be up four plus hours in the morning to get pissed at Jon Moxley beating Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship. Hope my prediction's wrong. I wish it was Bryan Danielson vs. Darby Allin here instead. Wanted to see that since Danielson signed with AEW. 1

Zimbra Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Hologram vs The Beast Mortos 2/3 falls announced for the show. Wish they would have done some actual build to this but you know it's gonna fuck. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 9 Posted October 9 If they don't have a segunda that ends with Mortos winning via unseen lowblow we might have a problem.

Kevin Wilson Posted October 10 Posted October 10 The only good part of Mox winning would be I'm 98% sure Danielson wouldn't retire based on that result. Sure he may disappear for a few months to heal up (I'm still not convinced his neck is as bad as he says, if he was on a pitch count he wouldn't be doing random Dynamite matches), but I just don't see Danielson calling it a career (even to go super part time) in the middle of a storyline like that. So if he loses my guess would be he disappears for a few months and returns by Revolution. Or he wins. 2
Casey Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Mox title wins and reigns are starting to get into Cena “I don’t care to watch this” territory for me. Counting the Interim title, he’s held that thing 4 times already and AEW has only been around for 5 years. 5 1

Matt D Posted October 10 Posted October 10 People should embrace the fact they’re finally doing Stop the Moxley (if only for their own good). I think they didn’t lean hard enough into it on Weds. Darby should have mentioned it when calling out the locker room. Garcia should have mentioned it as well. 2

The new BCC doesn’t come across as the existential threat to AEW that Moxley proclaims it as without some some united babyface segments and the little production things that WCW was so good at spring/summer 1996. Mox says it isn’t the same AEW, but the scope is bound to the feud with Bryan. Maybe they’ll expand that later. 2

Far be it from me to talk you guys out of your opinion, but I think it's worth mentioning a couple asterisky type things: 1) as Casey already said, the interim situation - that whole period, and everything surrounding it kinda marred it. I watched every week, attended multiple shows w him on top, and I can probably legit tell you more about the "Rocky III" pod with Renee than I can that particular reign 2) the subsequent attempt at an International title reign was kinda derailed because he got concussed at Grand Slam and did the audible to Fenix right in the middle of it, so that one could've def gone better too 3) Good God, Mox vs. Swerve is gonna be so, SO gross, and I can't wait. 2
tbarrie Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I don't expect Mox to take the title Saturday, but I wouldn't have a problem with it if he does. I'd be less happy to see him win the title if it comes with a Wheeler Yuta heel turn, though. If he does retire Danielson, in my opinion the right move is to have Wheeler eventually beat Mox to avenge Danielson. 2
Curt McGirt Posted October 10 Posted October 10 (edited) Mox will be a transitional champ if he does win, I think, so there's that. I also have no problem with a Danielson "retirement"... because it won't be one. Edited October 10 by Curt McGirt 2

I'm looking forward to them running back Hangman/Mox for the World Title if it breaks in that direction(i know he's tangling with White now though) because Mox/Hangman was awesome without higher stakes 1
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I really liked the idea of Danielson carrying the belt past when he said he'd retire (with the excuse that Birdy told him he can't retire as champion because it wouldn't be fair or something, tie her being there to see him win it into it) so you really get the "anybody could win" uncertainty with all his title matches. But man, he's been looking like he's held together by wire and duct tape the last few matches and says he needs neck surgery.....they might have rushed the Nigel and Okada matches because he really can't go much longer Then again it's Danielson and he could be working and this could all be bullshit. I hope one day he comes out and is like, "yeah I never actually had any concussions in WWE I just took a couple years off to go clamdigging. I've never had a serious injury. And I love cheeseburgers."

Bryan isn't "retiring", and he isn't working without a contract. This angle is the opposite of what AEW did with Sting. 1
