blitzkrieg
31 minutes ago, hammerva said: also having Gulia first match being a setup for a Cora Jade return is an odd choice to say the very least Second match. Thoughts on the show: I know it's been this way for a while but sometimes I take for granted that I live in a world where DX is guiding the WWE. Do appreciate the move back to using real music for the show themes. Also think it's interesting that we're 2 for 2 with rap themes. Thought Roxanne and Giulia had a good little match but they probably have a better one in them in the future. Thought they did a good job of making the two of them seem pretty even in the ring. Enjoyed the return of Cora Jade as the Daughters of Punk are ready to run rampant on NXT. I really didn't expect Giulia to win the belt here and Cora coming back was a nice surprise. The Fraxiom segment might actually be better product placement than TJD Club House. Nathan Frazer showing that he's the friend that has to bring his own controller over to your house because he'll break yours. Wouldn't hate more promos done in this style. I was a little worried that Wentz and Lee wouldn't bring the hate in their Street Fight match after their No Mercy match but thought they did a good job of mixing violence with the high spots. You could see the nasty bruise Wentz had on his back from barely glancing the table on the UFO Cutter reversal. Look forward to see where they can go with a heel Lee. It's entirely possible that Oba Femi has had more North American title defenses than regular matches. Dude also has IT. I do think Tony did a good job and look forward to them running back the No Mercy match. Dug the Grand Theft Parker graphics. Thought the tag match was a good showcase for Fatal Influence and really think they could be the breakout stars from this era of the women's division. Think of the assets that will be at their disposal when Jaida and Lola get on the same table. Cargill and Belair showing up as Kelani's Plan B was a nice surprise and a good way to show the main roster stars can show up unannounced on NXT. Also wouldn't hate the Women's Tag Titles getting defended on NXT if NXT can't get their Women's Tag Titles back. The main event felt very much like it was up against time with three sets of entrances and the ring introduction. Would have liked to see the match the two could have at this point with a little bit more time. Thought that they did a good job with Punk not being too much of a distraction, figure the chances of a Punk/Page match are pretty good. Liked the new logo and the new title belts. Thought the production did a good job of not feeling like a B-Show. Look forward to seeing how the show looks next week and then what the remodel of the CWC looks like.
Eivion
Giulia/Roxanne had its rough moments but was good for two people not familiar with each other. Cora's return playing into the finish worked for me. Giulia taking the belt immediately would have felt off given how new she is to the audience. I thought the finish gave her some protection and was a good way to bring back Cora in a big way. There is definitely a better match between Giulia & Roxanne, but this was a good start and sets up a potential rematch in the future. Wes/Wenz was better than their No Mercy match. Thought the action was better, meaner, and the drama/tension felt more consistent. Still there was some scary spts like that chair bump and poor Wentz overshooting the table. This was more of what I was hoping for from No Mercy so good match. Miz tv with Oba and Tony was in setting up some extra tension for the rematch next week. Lola/Jaida vs. Fallon/Jacy was pretty solid. Was surprised to see the faces on the offensive for so much of the match though FI made the most of their time when they got control. Thought everyone looked good here and the end, and that it played well into the story of Jaida and Lola being strange bedfellows partners. The Bianca/jade surprise from Kelani post match was neat and hopefully means we get Bianca and Jade defending against Fatal Influence at Halloween Havoc or another bigger show. Still, so far Kelani hasn't really done anything to prove FI wrong about her dodging them. Hopefully Fallon or Jacy challenges for the WNA title sooner than late (and wins). Trick/Page was a solid tv main event, but its another match that feels like there is better one in them without the guest ref aspects involved. Less matches than I prefer, but I'm kind of ok with that in a situation where 3/4 would typically be used to sell PLEs/PPVs. Won't say any of them were great, but all of them were pretty solid and worth a watch. The women were the standouts here with Giulia/Roxanne being MOTN for me. Segments were still decent, didn't overstay their welcome, and did well building to the next show/s as well. Thought this was a good debut for NXT on CW quality wise.
Casey
I would’ve been way more into this show than I was (read: not at all) if Punk had wrestled like Orton is going to do next week. Which still confuses me, that would have arguably been a bigger deal than the other guy who wrestles on TV every week mostly. But I get it, I guess. Punk is basically a “only wrestle at PLE” guy, which sucks, because his AEW TV matches were really fun. It is what it is.
Cliff Hanger
I don't love the new logo and belts (I liked the big goofy X) but I will hold my opinion til they get home to the PC and we see the new set. Perez/Giulia was solid but not the barn burner I'd been expecting. An inconclusive finish was probably the right call to get them at least to Havoc. Good to see Cora back (is she gonna go after Wren or will they forget that she got assigned responsibility for the injury since they're both heels now?) Perez went a little high on that dive, it looked like she got more face on the floor than expected. Speaking of overshooting, Jesus. It's a good thing that table was where it was, I was having Eddie Kingston flashbacks. Scary bumps aside, that match ruled. I miss picture in picture ad bfeaks already. FI vs Parker and Vice was fine. MizTV sit down was fine. It didn't get me more hyped for the match but I am very hyped for the match anyway. The main really felt rushed; part of that is me being used to an overrun and being acutely aware that the show had to end directly at 9. Speaking of, I don't know if this was local to Austin or national, but it abruptly cut out while Vic was yelling. All in all not a bad show but not a super auspicious start IMO.

Fox never did it Smackdown but I was hoping that there was a chance it would survive on CW. Maybe the WWE can convince them about it later on. Had Vic getting cut off also, the WWE post of the main event on YouTube and the CW app have Vic not getting cut off. He just went "Trick is NXT, CW is NXT, we are NXT." dragonzombie
In Dec or Jan, I will post RAW's final TV rating before it moves to Netflix, and maybe compare the final ratings to the first episode of RAW ratings from decades ago. I expect RAW to get a revamp and more either next week or when it moves to Netflix next year, but that's all obvious to anyone.

madl
Listened to Meltzer and Alvarez for the first time in awhile, Alvarez couldn’t keep Bron, Braun, and Bron(son) straight, thereby proving Vince’s contention that fans can’r be depended on to tell wrestlers with similar gimmick names or the same first name apart. Really good rating for NXT if AEW is getting a show on FOX I think they could get better ratings than they are getting on Turners networks because it's network TV. Fox seemed to be more than happy to get rid of WWE even before they starting good again. Its surprising they even consider another promotion to air on Fox right after having Smackdown but if AEW gets on FOX it might be a game changer if Fox gets behind them. odessasteps
I said this elsewhere. But if Fox puts wrestling against NXT, I can see Hunter/Shawn having more main roster talent appearing every week. Not necessarily A level talent like Cody or Rhea, but the next level does.
blitzkrieg
Brandon Thurston on Twitter said that a CW rep told him that they don't have any plans to put the pre-CW episodes on their website/app, so that puts them in limbo in the US for now. (Assume they're still available internationally for people that still have the WWE Network.) It makes me wonder since Netflix will be airing NXT in other regions if they might just end up with the rights to the NXT archive episodes. hammerva
After tonight Chelsea Green deserves a title run. that table bump in the dumpster was about a couple inches away from a bad neck injury. Johnny Sorrow
That main event was fucking insane fun, and I'm sick of ladder/ TLC matches. It was crazy, and all match long I was saying "The belts are too fucking high!" Then, in the craziest spot , noted coordinated guy Tonga Loa climbs way up beyond the safety limits of the ladder and grabs the belts. I fell off a ladder on the job a year ago, and I was feeling PTSD over how high up those belts were. It made the match even more exciting in a fucked up way. Also, I was two gummies in.
