Honestly, I get why the Cubs or any team wouldn't want to do that, but also, if I'm the Yankees, there's no way I would want to take on all of Belli's salary after how he looked last season. Right now, it seems like the Yankees are the best fit for a trade, but in talking with other Yankees fans, it doesn't sound like there's a whole lot for the Yankees to trade to the Cubs. Jed not being great at trading players, or signing them, likely winds up eating the $10 million or more and get back a middling prospect, maybe a reliever, and maybe a PTBNL.

Koji Uehara was 34 when the O's signed him, and he was a solid pitcher for them in the time he was there. He had even more success in Boston out of their bullpen, but for his MLB career, he was pretty good.

They did. This FO is so fucking pathetic and cynical. I'll go out on a limb and say Belli hits right around 30 dongs this season. Poteet is the perfect Cubs for this era of the team. A dude who has been passed around a lot that doesn't see a lot of ML action but some scout or Jed will think they can fix him. Spoiler, they won't.
