This has nothing to do with the tv product this week but I just watched Big E’s construction promo, and that is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. My stomach hurts.

Apparently the NXT archives/next day episodes are leaving Peacock on Monday night and moving to The CW app.

I remain in the small minority that keeps looking for news on Main Event and Level Up with the Hulu deal being gone.

Thought the opening was solid with Randy returning and being reasonable with Cody. It was a nice contrast to Kevin's handling of the Bad Blood tag and Solo coming out and getting his usual heat was a nice cutoff from Kevin actually talking. I like that Kevin's frustration is being kept at a reasonable level.

The Nia/Tiffy segment was a great level segment to continue to make people hate Nia and make people actually feel bad for Tiffy and want to see her cash in on Nia.

The WWE has been doing a real good job with face/face matches as of late and Bayley/Naomi was a good competitive match between the two. Appreciated the ending with Bayley winning the match with the elbow off the top, which is a believable move to finish the match but not something you see her win matches with. I appreciated even more that they let this finish cleanly instead of having Nia or Tiffy interfere in it.

I just assumed that the awkwardness between Andrade and Knight last week was miscommunication on their part. So I was surprised to see them incorporating it in the storyline but not like I wouldn't mind Andrade and Knight running it back again. I think Melo has really found his groove when it comes to his character.

At this point I think Melo and Andrade can't have a bad match together. They also seem to keep finding new spots to do six matches in. I love that they seemingly come up with something crazy to go into the commercial break each match, this time with Andrade powerslamming Melo on the apron while Andrade was in between the ropes. Was a bit surprised to hear the dueling chants for both guys which really goes to show how the series has elevated both in the eyes of the crowd. The superplex counter into the cutter was another great spot from the two. They definitely deserved the two commercial breaks with pip. Knight getting involved was expected but I appreciate that Melo still got a more-or-less clean win and look forward to where they go with things from here.

Appreciate them using Smackdown LowDown to set up matches for the following week's show. Feel like Chelsea is really channeling the 80's/90's with her build up to the Dumpster Match. This was given more time than the last time they faced which was nice and the two of them click well. Going back to her mini-program with Bayley, Piper always looks like a believable threat in the ring. Good win for Michin going into next week.

I'm not sure what I was more surprised by: the fact that the triple threat match is going be a ladder match or that Tanga Loa can speak. The ladder match stipulation seemed a little random but a good promo with a lot of analogies sold me. Also glad that Tama seemed to dial things back a bit from last week.

I appreciate that Bayley and Naomi can be genuinely good friends.

The main event was a solid Smackdown main event tag team match. There is a bit of diminishing returns here with how many variations of this match they've run but it was still a decent match. The finish was a bit on the weak side but I imagine the eventual payoff with Kevin and Cody will make things worth it.

Overall not a great Smackdown but a really good one. Andrade and Melo stole the show as they usually do when they're paired together but there were no bad matches on the show. The Smackdown before PLEs are pretty much always good and loaded and it doesn't seem like next week will be any different.

Opening segment was decent in setting up the main event and further dissension between Cody and friends. Still the segment took too much time for my tastes.

What was there of Bayley/Naomi built into something solid though it felt like it could and would have been more with extra time. I dug Naomi being game to go while Bayley was a bit hesitant in the opening. A part of me wishes they played with that a bit more.

Andrade/Hayes VI was another fine match between the two with the added drama of Knight coming in at the end working out well.

Piper/Mia was pretty decent and a better showcase for both than their last encounter.

KO/Orton vs. Solo/Jacob was good with further drama between Cody and friends added.

Match wise this was decent. Andrade/Hayes continue to add good-great matches to their series and was the standout of the show. Segment wise the shorter stuff was solid while the longer left a bit to be desired. I do like all the building they were doing here though for Bad Blood and the general relationships on the show. Decent-solid show.

I really enjoyed this show. I liked every match, I liked every angle, I liked the modern sports presentation, I liked the announcing. Add it all up and I kinda loved this episode? Two hours where I liked everything and it all made sense is what I want. And I want that Jacob Fatu shirt, too.

Quick Level Up thoughts:

Uriah Connors and Kale Dixon seem to be a team that they're definitely testing out as they have another losing effort against Tyson Dupoint and Tyriek Igwe. Connors and Dixon don't get much in terms of offense but they do spend a lot of time playing the cocky heels to the crowd and the cameras. Dupoint and Igwe always look athletic for their sizes and hit all their stuff smoothly. Hopefully in the next few months they start to elevate more of the tag teams into the title picture.

First time seeing Jasper Troy as he faces off against Stacks. I'm a bit surprised that Jasper Troy doesn't have a wallet chain but I think Briggs might have that covered. Troy looks like he could work on being a bit smoother in the ring as I have to say those aren't the prettiest elbow drops I've ever seen. That said it kinda worked with the story of the match as the match is worked as being a struggle for Stacks as he just seems to take whatever he can get. They get creative with the finish as Luca "accidentally" drops the brass knuckles which Troy picks up in sight of the ref giving Stacks a window to pick up the win.

Uriah Connors and Kale Dixon got a backstage segment where they get to complain about their treatment and how they should be getting more. It's early but I could see them developing into a fun duo.

You could tell Sol Ruca and Dani Palmer's familiarity with each other as they had a nice little match with a lot of counters and pin reversals.  Could definitely see this one day being down on NXT television or a PLE. Match ends a bit abruptly with a Sol Snatcher Out Of Nowhere but suppose Sol is on another level at this point.

Other NXT tidbits:

Nikkita Lyons returned to action at a NXT live event this weekend. I am looking forward to them booking Lyons and Jaida Parker with the CWC crowd.

Listings have NXT being TV-14 instead of TV-PG on The CW. Hopefully The CW won't be nearly as bad as Fox was with blacking out the screen and muting the sound.

So where can you see Level Up and Main Event now?  Definitely looks like they've been yanked from Hulu.

Ruca feels like she's in the 'pare down the moveset in preparation for the main roster' zone right now. She's also got a few narrative threads dangling: she had a segment backstage talking admiringly of Vaquer's debut from the Mexico house show; she recently debuted on Main Event with a loss to Alba (via Isla interference, which feels like it's setting up a tag rematch), she popped up on TNA teaming with Jordynne against Rosemary and Wendy, and she seems to have been quietly moved away from the Lola-Jaida/Fallon-Jacy-Jazmyn arc. Of note - this felt like both were holding back, which I think makes sense because they've fairly consistently been friendly. Ruca's been mixing in some harder-edged power moves that were nowhere to be seen in this one (a fireman's carry-powerbomb that looked vicious in the gauntlet, and a kip-up into a straight right hand), which I think bodes well for her versatility going forward.

Dani's on her third match back from major hip/back surgery - loss to Jazmyn, struggle-win over Lainey (with a questionable promo beforehand - branding youself "daredevil" means more than saying "I dare you" to people) and this friendly loss to Sol, so it feels like she's being set up a bit for a tag run or eventual heel turn, but with her style I have no idea how that works.

Currently Level Up has a live airing on Friday nights on Peacock, after which it and Main Event are still on a 2 week delay for being uploaded right now. As that the delay on Peacock has always been explained as to being a Hulu thing, hopefully they can just post a few episodes at once and catch things up.

Late to the party but Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker was one of the best WWE matches this year before a hot crowd. Great finishing stretch.
