I actually prefer the Page/Moxley Texas Death Match from AEW Revolution 2023 to the Page/Strickland one at AEW Full Gear 2023. Am I the only one?

As much as I love both matches, you're not the only one but I I do think that both are top tier AEW matches in a "Best Of"

Thank you. I remember reading your list now.

This current feud got me thinking.  What would be your best feuds in AEW?  My memory is hazy from the early days, but i'd interested to see some consensus on where this one ranks.

Dark Horse for the list has to be PnP v Best Friends for the parking lot brawl alone.

Good question:

Mr Brodie Lee vs. Cody.

CM Punk vs. MJF.

CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston.

Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland.

Bryan Danielson vs. Hangman Adam Page.

MJF vs. Wardlow.

I don’t care for either one because contrived Chekhov’s Glass spots feel so inorganic and like we are grabbing shit from under the ring in WCW Revenge

I love both matches but cannot disagree with this valid (yet hilarious) criticism.

For me, I don't mind them much because if you think back to some of the earliest shows, there was shit like that all over the place - a glass coffee table set-up several feet to the right of the ramp for no reason, Mox's crazy-ass barbed wire trampoline Vietnam man-trap looking thing, etc.

Fully agree that stuff is a bit "logic breaking" but I always just took it as part and parcel of the Elite running their own promotion since they used to mess with the fourth wall so much anyway

BCC/Conglomeration + Will was a fun match, but I wished they had prepped Danielson for some of the obvious questions he'd get on commentary. He's the leader of BCC, why wouldn't he know Pac's status within the group? Why would he not have any insight on Mox, even if that insight is "he's gone AWOL for a couple months, I'm worried about him."

I took it as Danielson evading the questions with non-answers. Not unlike TK doing press. His answer for the question about Pac could read as the BCC are coming to an end: 'he would have been a great choice for the BCC' (or something like that). I don't think he knows what's up with Moxley, and I think it'll become clear before his full time career is over and done with.

Agreeeeeed. I said this a while ago but Danielson/Mox would make a ton of logical sense as a last match. I think the question at this time is really: is the Mox/Shafir contingent going to become its own BCC with blackjack and hookers, or are we going to see Mox/Shafir align with Yuta/CC/PAC and we get the whole gang turning on Danielson

I was sort of hoping that Hangman would Killdozer the house instead but the fire did look extremely cool.

Matt Tremont, Deathmatch wrestler and owner of the H20 indie promotion, he was Bulldozer Matt Tremont for years. But then he got set on fire and turned into a heel nicknamed Killdozer.

Hangman going full Marvin Heemeyer would’ve certainly been a choice. I mean, it’s not like TK doesn’t have the money to commission the building of a Killdozer. I guess they could continue to get use out of it with Hangman driving it to the ring like he’s Shotzi Blackheart.

Pac vs Orange Cassidy has been running from the early days of AEW and it's always a treat when their paths cross since. Pac's, "you?!?" to OC on Collision last week spoke volumes.

The Mark Briscoe promo was great just for everyone else looking like geeks trying to match his energy

And Marina Shafir has massive Tryhard Energy. Mox vs Darby has been a great pairing in the past so I'm down for that destination, but the past 2 weeks the Mox bits have felt super awkward.

That ending segment was great. Loving Everyman Adam Page being pushed to this level, like Harvey Dent. He tries being good, only to see the villain become the hero.

Mox's promo gave me HHH vibes for some reason.

You're not the only one, as I distinctly remember thinking the Page/Strickland Texas Death Match kind of stunk. Which appears to make me the low voter on that one.

I think if you are not talking from a work rate/stars perspective, Hangman/Swerve had one of the biggest "holy shit" moments in pro wrestling, and that's what makes it memorable.  It's like the Foley/Taker HITC match, to an extent.

I feel FTR vs Briscoes should count, but none of that was in AEW.

Would you count NXT matches toward a best of WWE list? Kind of the same thing, imo.

Last night was a pretty good show as usual. I wish I knew what direction they were going with Moxley and Shafir. I like Marina so it's nice to see her get a prominent spot like this. But I can see how it's being forced. I mean why does Moxley need muscle? It has me interested so I'm willing to see where it goes.

The ending was so damn good. I totally see the comparison of Adam Page becoming Harvey Dent that was made above. This is probably the most excited I've been to see a cage match in a long time. It's going to be a horror show with the blood involved. I'm a firm believer in lots of blood in cage match of a personal nature like this.

I mentioned this last night, but, no, it’s not a green screen. The guy I was talking about was a safety coordinator I believe, wherever it was shot at had their local fire department there to oversee the shoot as well. The guy in question posted a picture (maybe like a few yards away or something) and it was Hangman sitting in that chair, with the house in the background on fire. It was all legit.

He deleted the post and picture a few hours later, but yeah.

Wow, I was convinced that they filmed the walkthrough and then cut to a soundstage when Hangman walked to set the phone down and the screen went dark for a split second. My thought was the fire at the end was a set.

I agree with every last word of this.

Oh, I'm definitely not talking from a workrate/stars perspective. But I'm not a fan of gore and extreme violence in my wrestling, and I don't recall this match having much of anything else to it. It's not like it was some brilliant example of great layout or including a lot of satisfying narrative payoffs or anything like that. It was just a gorefest.

Admittedly, the first few minutes were good. But it fell apart pretty quickly.

(What was the memorable moment? The blood drinking? Because that was memorable, just not in a good way.)

Other than the Mox segment and Perry backstage, I really enjoyed this show. Knowing there would be lots of talking and vignettes due to being a go home, they were all solid to excellent. And we had two womens matches on a Dynamite!

Okada-Fletcher was action packed and Kyle looked great!

Hayter’s clothesline at the end was NASTY.

Mariah and Nyla was good stuff, fluid, showcased Nyla while making Mariah look strong. Was excited about the short but sweet Deonna vignette, then immediately was reminded that Shida is in the title match at the PPV and was much less excited about Deonna’s vignette. And no good reason to think Shida has a claim to be Ace of the women’s division, much less make a shirt.

Conglomeration stuff always rules. And the Learning Tree segment was short and put over Keith, along with the hilarious OC bit.

Super fun main event match, I think I actually like the Bastard Combat Club. And yeah, Bryan, KOR would’ve been an interesting member of the BCC. I’m sure Claudio and Yuta will have a good match with the Bucks with lots of stooging and a cheat finish.

In the world of AEW, she's probably got the best claim. Tied for most world title reigns. Has the longest total combined days as champ, longest individual reign as champ, first to 50 wins (and a broken trophy to prove it), currently 2nd all time in wins and will tie Nyla when she beats Deonna on Collision/Rampage tomorrow. If you want to argue if someone is a better wrestler than Shida, that's on you, but as far as on screen accomplishments, eh.
