The White Sox tied their franchise record for loses with their 106th loss

They are currently on pace for most losses in modern era baseball (120 by the 62 Mets) and the worst winning % in AL history (record is .225 by the 1916 Philly Athletics, Chicago is currently at .226)

They are 4-35 since the All Star break

Boy, were there a lot of cubs fans (but not Cubs Fan) in DC friday night. The same metro line goes to the Nats ballpark as where the wrestling was at on Friday.

This Cubs season is the inverse of last year. Looked good early, in position for a WC, and then collapse. This year, complete dogshit and now 5 above .500 on 9/2 and not a chance in hell of catching the Braves, let alone the Mets, in the WC standings. And hilariously enough, the only NL Central teams they play are the even shittier Pirates and Reds and not a single WC team. Of course they could play a minor spoiler to the Yankees, Dodgers, and Phillies.

Milwaukee's Willy Adames has now tied Ken Griffey Jr for the MLB record for most 3 run HR's in a season (13).

Dusty Baker's son - Darren (Yes, THAT son) - made his MLB debut yesterday.

He hit a single on the first pitch he saw

In more random White Sox records

They have now lost 20 straight games in which Chris Flexen was the starting pitcher which is the most in baseball's modern era (since 1900)

Somewhere up above, Earl Weaver is smiling.

Adames has also homered in 5 straight games which ties the Brewers record (Jeromy Burnitz (1997) and Eric Thames (2017))

The AL Central is, collectively, 32 games under .500.

Four of the five teams in the AL Central are currently over .500.

Francisco Lindor now has five 30+ HR seasons.

He's only the second* person to do so (Rodriguez).

* - Third, depending on where you put Banks

Man, on the one hand it's kind of humorous seeing the O's stomp them the past couple games.  Yet I'm also starting to feel bad for the Sox to the point that I'm in "Stop, stop he's already deaaaaad!" mode.

There are bad first pitches and then there is suffering a season ending injury throwing out the 1st pitch at a Nats game

Well talk about posts that didn't age well.  I'm kind of amused at how this turned out yet annoyed since this should have been an easy win.  I guess the O's emptied the tank the past two games.

Cubs no hit the Pirates

Shota Imanaga went 7 innings and was removed after throwing 95 pitches

2 relievers finished it off

Cubs 3B Isaac Paredes has THREE errors including one on the 2nd batter of the game that was initially ruled a hit and then changed to an error

It was Chicago's first no hitter at Wrigley since 1972

For reasons unknown - the Giants felt the need that they HAD to lock up Matt Chapman

6 year extension that starts next year and runs to 2030

$151 million guaranteed ($25 million every season plus a $1 million signing bonus)

Also has a no trade

Shooter fucking rules. The best part of this Cubs team and this Cubs season mostly throws a no-no to call off his season.

Also, maybe the best signing from Jed. Other than that, Jed still sucks.
