Well, I may as well start this, since I'm gonna be in the UK when this actually rolls around.  You got five title changes in August!   How many will you get in September?

Live from Hoffman Estates in the exurbs of Chicago, it's All Out!  (Should we stop at Portillo's or Medieval Times?)

THE CARD~  (Updated as officially announced)

CAREER THREATENING MATCH FOR THE AEW CHAMPIONSHIP - Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Jack Perry

CHICAGO STREET FIGHT† FOR THE CMLL WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - Kris Statlander (c) vs. Willow Nightengale

FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Will Ospreay (c) vs. Pac

FOR THE TBS CHAMPIONSHIP - Mercedes Mone (c) vs. Hikaru Shida

STEEL CAGE MATCH - Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland

MJF vs. Daniel Garcia

---

† - Willow's victory at All In will allowed her to name the stipulation for this match.

At one point wasn't Strickland/Page announced to headline or am I tripping?

Not that I recall, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen - maybe you misheard/misread an "...if he wins the Casino Gauntlet"-type thing

It was rumored and everyone got upset (in dubious faith) that it’d only get a two week build.

Not a sure thing that Danielson is defending but if he is, who do people want to see here?

"Who's A Better Father Match For the AEW Championship" is a sentence I long to type.

I looked and can't find it, but I swear there has been a movie or miniseries about Medieval Times and the backstage machinations and staff personalities there. I read a review of it, probably on the Ebert site (still can't find it) and it sounded pretty funny.

I'd rather wait an hour for a Chicago pie than watch jousting before roast mutton though. Even though mead is tempting, and Old Style doesn't taste the same anymore.

Dude I so, so badly want to live in a world where my YouTube algorithm is feeding me stuff like "Black Knight BURIES Princess, SHOOTS HARD on Blue Knight - MUST SEE!"

I'm not sure what I want here, but I really want the tag belts off of the Bucks and im not a vehement anti-Bucks guy.  i despise the current direction of the tag division while they hold the titles hostage.

Christian continuing his legacy as AEW's Kane by being Danielson's first defense seems right. The "who's the better father" angle is right there, and the main thing would be Luchasaurus finally turning. Perfect for a 2-week program.

Swerve/Hangman in a super violent gimmick match could carry the drawing power, although I'm not sure what's left after the TDM. Exploding barbed wire or some kind of 3 stages of hell I guess.

MJF/Garcia is a near lock.

Since they're running Ricochet/Fletcher this week on Dynamite, that could set up Ricochet/Takeshita pretty quickly.

Agreed that the Bucks really need to drop the straps and quietly end the EVP nonsense if Kenny isn't getting back in a timely manner. Why not run a tag team turmoil match here? It's a generally fun concept and there are at least 8 viable teams to mix in serious wrestling and comedy.

I've never been to Medieval Times but every time I'd go see my ex in the Chicago suburbs, we'd hit Portillo's and I'm kinda missing it.

I went to Medieval Times in Lyndhurst, NJ once on a 7th grade class trip. The waitress was less than amused with 13 year old me constantly yelling wench at her.

Will Osprey vs Pac has a legitimate chance to be the most insufferable match of all-time not involving Keiji Muto wrestling for the triple crown in the early 2000's. Can't wait to see which of Osprey's 62 finishers is the one.

I hope they have the willpower to hold of on Hayter's return match until the PPV. Presumably vs Saraya.

Probably, and understandably, they'll give her a (couple of) TV warm-up match(es) first...

But...

I hope AEW understands that they have got something really special with Hayter. Putting her return on the Zero Two Hours makes me kind of wonder if they do, though. But that ENORMOUS pop she got in London maybe reminded them?

Me and my wrestling buddies have been dying for her to return. I know we aren't the only ones.

Holding off on letting us watch her fight until Chicago might pay off with a rabid, foaming at the mouth crowd. I'm all about that right now. I LOVED those British crowds going nuts (and I legit lol-ed at the Big Bill love and some of the chants, etc). Keep it going! Count on the delayed gratification paying off! Treat her return match like the fn special thing it is.

EDIT: Fuck. Oh well. Whatever. Nevemind. This week's Dynamite:

Chris Jericho & Big Bill & Bryan Keith & Roderick Strong vs. Hook & Orange Cassidy & Kyle O’Reilly & Mark Briscoe – All Star 8-Man Tag match

Jamie Hayter vs. Harley Cameron

Ricochet vs. Kyle Fletcher

Bryan Danielson will address his future

Based on last night and what has been announced, they might need to call this show Blood and Guts because there looks to be a number of matches with really violent tendencies to it.

I do like the idea of the cage match of Swerve vs Hangman to be some version of the Cage of Death match in CZW and GCW as the ultimate blow off.  Although I have a hard time believing they would allow all of that glass.   But it is still going to be a bloodbath.  I wonder of Tony will go 1985 Starcade on us with this show or tell them to save it for the main and just let it be as gory as possible

It's something when a Bryan Danielson match is one of the least I'm interested in on a card. Jack Perry fucking sucks, best thing that happened to him was his fracas with CM Punk at All In 2023 to get him into this position. Can't stand him or The Young Bucks.

Looking forward to Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland in a Steel Cage the most. I'd put that on last. I thought Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page would either be a no rope barbed wire match or a no rope exploding barbed wire deathmatch. Doing the latter to make up for Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley ending in THAT way at Revolution 2021.

Man they let Swerve drink blood in the last match between the two, they are gonna let these guys gonna do whatever the fuck they want

I hated that. Made me feel uncomfortable.

Right?? I'm predicting a very "Bobby Heenan-on-the-cover-of-an-Apter-mag"-type affair. It almost *has* to be - we kinda had this conversation in the immediate aftermath of their TDM, but it's like - where else do you go from there??

I kinda hope they just do an old fashioned cage match without any fighting outside the cage or deathmatch-y type stuff. Let them just beat each other bloody with the fucking cage and maybe forks or other stabby-ish items that can be pushed thru the cage. Magnum/Tully, not CZW.

A Saturday PPV. Rejoice. You have the Sunday to catch up on sleep rather than a weekday in Monday. Here's the itinerary UK time:

  • WWE RAW, 1am-4am Tuesday morning.
  • WWE NXT, 1am-3am Wednesday morning.
  • AEW Dynamite, 1am-3am Thursday morning.
  • WWE Smackdown, 1am-3am Saturday morning.
  • AEW Rampage, 3am-4am Saturday morning.
  • UFC PPV Main Card, 3am-6am Sunday morning.
  • WWE PLE, 1am-4am Sunday or Monday morning.
  • AEW PPV, 1am-5am Sunday or Monday morning.
  • AEW Collison, 1am-3am Sunday morning.

You have to be devoted/insane to do this.

I used to try and watch every WWE PPV live for years, until I realised I didn't have to/moved out and could no longer rely on my parents waking me up for work the next day. Originally it was because I had frenemies at school who would eagerly spoil me on anything significant that happened if I hadn't already watched it the night before. During the Attitude era I didn't even bother to watch the matches a lot of the time, if I hadn't watched live and didn't have three hours spare I'd just zip to the end and see who'd turned on who.

There were also several years where I'd watch RAW live, staying up til 4AM drinking Red Bull, eating cottage cheese and Sweet Chilli crisps like a gremlin, and then wasting several doctors' valuable time trying to get to the bottom of why I had really bad acid reflux.
