It was ECWA, but not the Super 8 ECWA, just some fed that ran less than a dozen shows.  It doesn't seem to be online anywhere but SmartMark is still selling the show: https://smartmarkvideo.com/ecwa-nov-17-2001-weirton-wv?search=ECWA&description=true

The show also has the east coast debut of Matt Cross/M-Dogg 20 but not much else to recommend it.

lol  Get a kick out of seeing Weirton as the location being that that's about 20 minutes north of me in Wheeling.

My favorite comedy match is Omega/Yano from the G1 in 2018. A wonderful parody of the style of NJPW at the time.

Yano was badly missed in G1 Climax 2024.

The Estonian Museum of Sport has uncovered the only known footage of George Hackenschmidt wrestling, a 15 minute match with Joe Rogers from 1908.  No word on a public release but you figure it'll happen sooner or later.

Never in my life did I think I might see Hackenschmidt wrestle.  Living in an age of wonders and whatnot.

Oh, that ECWA was run by Donnie B (Nova's brother), with backing from a local Pittsburgh based "money mark" named "Jackie" and her boyfriend(?) Thomas aka "Icepick".  She started off working with the local Pittsburgh & Cleveland promoters to bring in "names" from the East Coast, which were basically the SAT/Backseat Boys level of guys, and not actual names. After she kinda wore out her welcome she kinda started her own promotion, ECWA, with Donnie booking it. I think it kinda folded up when Donnie started his own promotion in NJ - Phoenix Championship Wrestling.

Interesting, I never knew Donnie B was Nova's brother. My roommate (who bought the tape) and I were always puzzled about that bootleg ECWA that seemingly only ran one show.

I watched a fair bit of PCW back in the day since the same roommate was a Nova fan.

Last time I saw Don Bon Jovi was at a lucha libre show in NYC around 10 years ago. He was the guy that they rented the ring from. He was a nice kid back when he was in JAP.

Yeah, it was.  And to his credit he did kinda look like unmasked Rey if you squinted.

There was a Dave Jericho working the indies around the same time along with a fake Vader.

Wasn't David Jericho Kid Kash's name when he was starting out?

Yeah, he did a fake Jericho gimmick pre-ECW.  Somebody was also using the name in the early 2000s but I don't think it was him.

I kind of miss the days of small time promotions making fake relatives to bigger wrestlers.

Didn't Shane Douglas start out as Troy Orndorff, Paul's "nephew"?

It's a great wrestling tradition that seems sadly abandoned now.  Have we had a good fake relative since Crash Holly?
