Dolfan in NYC Posted August 1 Posted August 1 When MJF jobs to him in London next year, remember to act surprised. 3
Shartnado Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) It's definitely not a thing anymore that the members of Don Callis Family keep facing each other, but can you imagine Takeshita vs RUSH? Maybe facing each other to cash in the favor Ospreay owes Callis (once he's some sort of champion again)! Also, is Buddy Matthews hurt for real? Matthews vs RUSH would be something else, as well? Edited August 1 by Shartnado So, is Buddy out legit? 2
Technico Support Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) Of all the injuries AEW has had, I don’t think anyone has blown a quad, let alone two at the same time.  Maybe TK just wants to remedy that. Edited August 1 by Technico Support 1

Has everyone save for Steph and Linda blown a quad in the immediate McMahon family? Vince, Paul, and Shane have that market cornered. 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 Not for nothing, but USA is about to have a three hour time of space to fill and there's only so many episodes of Chrisley Goes To Jail they can fill it with... Â 2 1
Chaos Posted August 1 Posted August 1 It makes you wonder if the Shane discussion was in part to talk about tv negotiations given that he does have a history of doing that when he left WWE the first time. 1

I said yesterday that if Shane helps get a TV deal, it’s worth all the stupid memes and internet trolling for that company. 3

Ah, so I am not the only one that figured Shane talking to TK/AEW probably had absolutely nothing to do with an on-screen/in-ring position, and was about the business side of things. 1

StuntmanCrowley Posted August 1 Posted August 1 I think Shane in a role behind the scenes/consulting on business side of things would be a great "get" for AEW. In-ring....that's another story, though the car crash visual of Shane v Darby will always be appealing. 2
Niners Fan in CT Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Zaslav appears to have blown the NBA on TNT deal, is he going to mess this up? What's Turner going to have left on cable, 'The Equalizer' and 'Infinity War' for the 100th time?Â
AxB Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Disney seems to be quite stingy at licensing their movies to regular TV channels over here, when they could funnel viewers towards Disney+ subscriptions instead. Whether that's their plan for the USA too, I can only speculate.

Whether that's their plan for the USA too, I can only speculate. Disney owns ABC as far as broadcast networks and a series of Disney cable channels so they don’t really have to. But they do license, the Star Wars movies are on TNT/TBS all the time, and the Marvel movies are on all sorts of cable networks including Disney owned channels like Freeform and FX Edited August 2 by JLowe Edit to add more networks

But seriously, if other major entertainment conglomerates didn't exist and weren't going through similar woes, would WBD be up there for the worst ran? Cause correct me if I'm wrong, they went from being totally complacent about not having the NBA, seemingly giving up the NBA package, did an about face and chose to match whatever is being offered, and now suing about the NBA choosing to move on? What in the entire fuck?Â

Yep, I had this mindset as well but just didn't bother saying anything with all the wild speculation about Shane. As for negotiations apparently TK is meeting with Zaslav this weekend in Paris. So while they're checking out Olympic wackiness hopefully they get something done. Losing AEW would mean little for them compared to other properties under WBD's umbrella. But it'll be interesting to see how far WBD is willing to let Zaslav fuck things up before going "Hey, wait a minute." At least compared to Kellner shutting WCW down in '01 there is a good working relationship here negotiation status be damned. So things are still largely unaffected and at this time nothing worth going nuts over (though it's the internet where baseless speculation and doom posting almost feels like the norm nowadays) 2
EVA Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Despite what a lot of online wrestling fans think, AEW really has WBD over a barrel when it comes to commanding the big rights increase they want. I think letting AEW go out on the market is a WBD gamble, hoping there’s a lack of other interested parties willing to pay AEW’s price, which they can leverage into getting AEW’s price down. And they may be correct in their assessment of what the marketplace is for AEW elsewhere right now. But there is also a definite possibility it could blow up in their face. And given how badly WBD has bungled just about everything over the last couple of years, it wouldn’t surprise me. 2

What in the entire fuck? It got very weird. NBA carved out a 3rd package for Amazon which was for $1.9B/year.  WBD decided to try to match that package which apparently was within their right but the NBA argued they didn't truly match the deal since it's an all streaming deal and Amazon has further reach in that department. WBD is arguing that Max + TNT is a "match".  So now it's headed to court. some people in the industry believe WBD is just trying to get the NBA to pay them to go away.Â
TheVileOne Posted August 2 Posted August 2 So when Britt Baker posted this in November...it was a shoot? https://x.com/RealBrittBaker/status/1730056548989174015
hammerva Posted August 2 Posted August 2 The whole thing is kind of confusing but I mean you knew something like this was going to happen when MJF got Alicia involved on the show.  And now you got Brian Cage doing the same thing in ROH.   One of these days Tony is going to learn about being an actual boss but it probably won't be soon enough 1
TheVileOne Posted August 2 Posted August 2 It's concerning to me that MJF was so angry he punched through a wall, and Baker was the only person punished. It seems like MJF should be punished as well for escalating the situation.

Please don't make me go looking around at pro wrestling "news" sites to find it. 1 2
