RE: Rampage
Another fun Rampage this week. I was looking forward to Rush v Komander, but was a bit disappointed with this hopeless lopsided bout. Not terrible, but a little more hope and thrills r needed for the 12 minute running time. Fletcher/Takeshita v Privates was fun. Looks like Kyle Fletcher is the new overly talented guy to dunk on who already proves the haters wrong every time out. Pretending not to know the name of the guy you're talking trash about seems to always be the play. Sure, I miss Aussie Open, but away from the w/l records when has Kyle not been stellar throughout this singles run? Callis was great as per usual during his Family Ties commentary. Very much enjoyed the Rush/Don video, but would’ve been better to show prior to his match. The Kingdom promo in there was fun. Taven was particularly good there. It’d be nice to see he and Bennett have an actual competitive match on TV some time. Rather than having no business being at ringside during Roddy matches, and making them all a bit worse than they ought to be. MJF/Garcia/Ospreay video was good. O’Reilly squash was fine. I’d prefer Kyle get a meaningful win here and there – he obviously needs some. Samoa Joe promo was good. May/Shida preview video was terrific. Owen aside, just in general, more of these pre-match packages would be a really good thing. May v Shida was snug and terrific save for the silly finish. I’m not sure I understand why Shida already flailing couldn’t have gotten a shoulder up. Seems it would've been harder to keep it flat on the mat? Ridiculous. May looked great bouncing all over the place. Shida brought a good fight. The Toni Storm/Adora promo video might have been the best thing on this show. Toni seems to have a lot of great stuff on this oft unseen C show. I had fun with this Power Hour of Professional Wrestling on a Saturday morning.

I was expecting a shorter squashier match, but they kept kicking out of stuff. Not sure about Fletcher and Takesoup hitting stereo Brainbusters for Twos, when that's MJF's new killer finish, but oh well. Schiavone at the desk looking miserable at sharing a camera shot with Callis was funny, can't wait for all of the idiots to screencap it and talk about how he's not happy in AEW.

I love Max going with the Brainbuster as a finisher. It's a great move that clearly still pops an audience. That said, there's some needed recovery time. Cutting the devastating looking mid-match brainbusters from both Takeshita's arsenal and especially Fletcher's would do them both a world of wonders. In turn, it's great to see Fletcher rehabbing the Piledriver as a finish rather than a mid-match transitional 2 count before hitting a far less devastating finish. I've never not been sold on the Piledriver as a killer, thank you Mr. Wonderful.

My wife asked me why Jack Perry was fighting a kid and thought it was comical that anyone would sell for Mario Stunt. I totally agree. Otherwise, a very good Collision.

I'm the same. Never liked Marko Stunt.

There continue to be some weird bookings. Like Rush essentially having a prolonged squash against Komander, while Fletcher and Takeshita struggle with Private Party. Even Storm-Adora was probably longer and more competitive than it needed to be. Claudio-Black Taurus was more what Rush-Komander should have been (and I’ll admit that was maybe more competitive than it should’ve been but it was fun AF).

Hangman cracked his skull on the leg of the ringside divider, made for great visuals. One of these days, Jay White will win a big one.

It may be just been how it came off on TV, but it seemed like Claudio got no pop at all for his entrance, and the crowd was dead for that excellent hoss fight between Claudio & Mortos.  I think that match would've been a lot better if they'd done it on Wednesday in Chicago.

The first one doesn't seem weird to me, because going into the show I would have given Private Party a better chance to win than Komander. Obviously they wouldn't be pinning Takeshita, but they're not so low on the totem pole that I couldn't see them getting a fall on Fletcher.

And heck, Trish Adora had a better chance of beating Toni Storm than Jay White had of beating Adam Page. But of course there was very little chance of the latter being a squash after it was announced as the main event; it was always going to be Page winning a fairly competitive match.

The MJF promo was fine. I suppose calling out Ospreay not in attendance is a good call back to the Punk/Hanger debacle. I wondered if the heat garnered from this call out is more on AEW for Will not being booked than MJF for calling him out? I like playing to the company's short history, but MJF throwing to an extended replay of a promo he could've summed up fairly quickly was a bit... Mid. I guess we'd best be prepared for Max's commitment to the lowest hanging fruit - inbreeding, cocksucking, motherfucking etc. Ugh. All that said, the more focused portions of the promo were fairly good. I'll call it hit and miss and move along. OC/O Reilly/Briscoe v Bears was fine. I like the Bears potential, but hate the execution of this rotten gimmick. I wanna press ffwd every time they're on my color television set. Especially sick of the rimjob taunt from Boulder. Needless and embarrassing. The pre-match Conglomeration promo was the good stuff. As was the Jack Perry promo in the belt reflection. I like the creatitivy and delivery there. 'Please welcome...' ugh, stop having Lexi do this - it's awkward. As is her dramatic reactions - I much prefer the reporter to the actor 'back to you Cole' works a lot better. The Hangman Promo was fairly good tho. Trish  v Toni was terrific. I hope ppl saw the Toni Newsreel Promo on Rampage for this. Trish Adora is getting better and better. Nice to see her give Toni a run here. Very much enjoyed Toni's mic work during the match. I'm gonna be shedding Nigel style gorilla tears when this Mariah/Toni duo breaks up. The May/Willow Owen Video was very good. Willowmania! The Christian promo was his usual excellence. The Sabian beatdown off camera was a bit silly. Sabian must have some really good friends in high places. Jack Perry v Marko Stunt was a perfect TV showcase. Marko looked great here bumping like a lunatic. Reminded me of the way he sacrificed himself so beautifully to Brodie and Archer way back when. This was what the Komander-Rush match should have been. A thankfully coherent Malakai/Brody promo. The Claudio v Mortos bout was exactly the great time I thought it might be. This reminded me of Claudio's great ROH on HC title run that too few saw. The Daddy Magic promo was good, but disappointed he's not going after Max. They could've had a nice little lopsided TV program. The Deeb promo was fine. She's a decent talker if a bit whiny and cliched. The whiny part works for her heel persona I suppose. Too bad we won't get that Riho rematch. I'm one of those ppl she mentioned that loved the previous bout. Frosty v Riho was getting there until the dive was missed and the apparent injury. I hope it's not too serious. I wonder if we can finally get Frosty some wins, or a win, already? The Samoa Joe promo was good. I'm game for the Street Fight. Hanger v Swatchblade had the slow build with a hot delivery. Jay is a special performer. So goddamn tight. Page too. Loved all the shenanigans here. Really fun main event and pretty good for what one can expect from the consistently fun B show.

Holy shit. Now this is a motherfucking promo.

This dude is going to quickly turn himself face again with promos like this. I’m on Team Hangman.

Appears Marko is now a youth pastor at a church in Olive Branch, MS. Hopefully he comes back again with the Christian storyline

I had to re-read that a few times before I realized you were talking about Christian Cage and not advocating Marko should come back with a preacher gimmick.

I'm assuming Rush just refuses to go 60/40 in JTTS matches.

Great promo but it's so easy for a heel (or even Swerve) to just counter it with "you had your chance to punish Swerve and you didn't get it done"

Rush dominated and beat down then-babyface Jungle Boy, in a match that was supposed to make Perry look tough.

I mean, if we define face/heel in terms of the morality of the characters' actions, Hanger is already the face. Swerve is a fucking monster. Hangman's only crime is maybe wanting revenge a little too much.

My only concern is that if it's Swerve/Page 4 as the main event in Wembley....what the hell will both of them do to top the other encounters on such a grand stage?  The Texas Death Match was about as brutal as you can get.

Also, JAZWares/Ringside Collectibles is missing the boat if they don't do something for Swerve/Page as a 2-Pack special set or something.

Don’t have a link to the post but Riho apparently broke her arm in that match.

Yeah, looks like it was on the dive to the floor where she came up short and Frost didn’t make up the space in time to catch her.  The whole match was a disjointed mess before that, as well.  I hope Frost doesn’t get punished for it because she’s been pretty good up until now.

During the first match Nigel made a quip about "titty city" being equally appropriate for the next match, which ended up being Toni Storm and Trish Adora. Someone needs to have a word with him because that's incredibly disrespectful. Schiavone was stunned into silence by it. Nige has some good moments, but he's quantity over quality and he far too often crosses the line to Jerry Lawler "puppies", bleugh!

Nigel has had other quips that while not as bad made me think he's needed a talking to for some time.  I get there's the whole thing with Toni, Mariah and for a bit Mina but while other commentators know better it's brought out the worst in Nigel.  It's a shame as I think he can be amusing but just doesn't have a filter.

That aside I was waiting for what MJF would say and he stuck the landing.  It's a lot more than just him going back to his old cocky ways.  He felt betrayed and the fury he had drove home this was a justified heel turn.  Great stuff.

I really thought we were about to see both of Lady Frost's knees get exploded on that spot.
