WWE TV - 7/1 - 7/7/2024 - Money, In The Bank, Is The Root Of All Evil Today...

Recommended Posts

Money, get away... You get a good job with more pay and you're OK.

We're a few days away from Money in the Bank, and I think there's something to be said about HHH booking 12 people where any of them could conceivably win the briefcases.   Well, I say 12, but 10 have qualified.  Last two will be determined tonight!

Money, it's a gas... Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.

We also have two title matches coming up where Seth Rollins gets his last chance at Damien Priest, and Bron Breakker gets his first chance at Sami Zayn.

Money, it's a hit.... don't give me that do-goody-good bullshit.

Of course though, we have a new Tribal Chief, who is down one wiseman after he was....  summarily dismissed on Friday.  I'm wonder if and when the last guy to hold that title will have anything to say about that.... Maybe on Saturday?  We'll see!

Money, so they say is the root of all evil today... But if you ask for a rise, it's no surprise that they're giving none away.

Hey, it's also the 4th of July on Thursday!   Which means Independence Day  🇺🇸  OR Election Day 🇬🇧!   Good luck to everyone!   Enjoy the week!

Liv/Zelina was so so so so good. Where did that come from? Liv has had good matches when in the ring against the top end of the division. Zelina has had fun moments but I don’t remember her having a full match that was anything above okay. Never expected those two to have an absolute banger that also tied in different story arcs throughout. Bravo to whoever put that all together. Liv absolutely rules in her current form. Stealing the show every week.

Sami/Bron was awesome. Can’t wait for that match.

The Jey opening was almost as epic as Sami’s iconic entrance in Montreal. It made Raw look like the most fun thing you could possibly see live. Felt borderline out of control in a great way.

The Uncle Howdy stuff is just so well done and weird and not like anything else.

Falling asleep before I watch the main event but this was a fun few hours of professional wrestling.

I thought this was a good episode of RAW.  The Uncle Howdy segment once again was amazing. This stuff would have never worked with Vince still around. I'm amazed Triple H is letting it go full out like he is right now to be honest.

Liv vs. Zelina was a really good match. I loved Liv using Rhea's move to try and get a submission. Zelina smacking Dom with the chair and Liv getting super pissed was a nice spot.

The Sami vs. Bron segment was pretty good. Sami outsmarting Bron's second spear was awesome.

The main event was really good. I was hoping Dragonov would win, but they've invested a lot of energy into Drew's chase to be champion so I would not be surprised if Drew does win and ends up cashing in and winning the title that night.

I was amused by a tweet that had a clip from the women's match where they were chanting "shave your mustache" at Dom and the person said "it's so mean to chant that at Zelina."

The Jey/Gable segment was solid. Loved Jey's entrance, and I like the Wyatt Sick6 messing with Gable continues to be a thing.

Woods/Kross was decent. The heel beatdown from Final Testament was better.

Liv/Zelina was good. The two worked far better than expected with them playing more into their size difference. The added Rey/Dom drama played into the match just enough, and I like how Dom keeps playing into Liv's hands every time.

The Balor/Seth/Priest segment was another solid one. Curious to see how things unfold with clear hints of Finn being jealous.

Zoey vs. Dakota vs. Ivy was solid. Wasn't sure what to expect here with none of the 3 being terribly over, but they worked well together and built up a nice showcase for Ivy. Was happy to see Kairi, Fyre, and Dawn get involved as a follow up to last week. Same with the later backstage brawl with Lyra and the KCs attacking Damage CTRL.

The Uncle Howdy VHS was another good one. Dug some of it hinting to why Gable has been a target.

Dom/Rey was good. Dom is always such a little shit and knows how to piss a crowd off while Rey knows how to respond well to Dom's bs. The Liv drama played out well here and gave Zelina a nice chance at revenge. I really hope they do Dom/Rey in a big Mexico show at some point.

That Sami/Bron segment was good stuff and a nice way to showcase Bron as heel against someone the crowd fully loves.

Sheamus vs. Ilja vs. Drew was exactly what you would want and expect from these guys going at it, good and rough. The three beat the crap out of each other like expected, but I was particularly pleased to see both Drew & Sheamus trying to make sure Ilja had a good showing with everything they took from him. Kind of so-so on Drew winning, but it does leave me curious at just how Punk screws him over again come MITB.

The matches were generally decent, but there were some nice standouts in Liv/Zelina, Dom/Rey, and the main event. All 3 were good and well worth watching. Liv is someone I don't think gets enough credit ring wise, especially when she can get matches like this out of Zelina. Dom continues to get better and better and its nice to see his growth in big singles like this every time. Segment wise I thought this show delivered as well in building up so many people and angles in good and/or interesting ways. Once again if this wasn't a 3 hour show I would call it good. Still pretty solid and worth catching if only for the 3 standout matches and bigger segments alone.

This Brooks Jensen angle in the last couple weeks has been pretty sleazy in my opinion.   I am guessing this is Shawn looking for a Savior angle to work with but comes off like using either alcoholism and/or mental health problems for a character

They did something on the mental health side with Roxanne last year when they took the title off of her. I'm guessing its more them wanting to use/acknowledge real world issues on occasion. I don't think the intentions are sleazy, but its hard not to come off that way in wrestling especially with WWE.

Carlito has been fucking hilarious during all this JD shit. Truth showed that a comic relief worked in the group. Carlito is doing that now with just one liners and reactions. He's killing it.

Jaida/Mia meandered a pinch during the PIP action but was generally good otherwise. Dislike Yim losing here with Jaida still being so green, but it wasn't unexpected with Jaida on the rise and likely to be the next challenger for the WNA title.

NCR vs. Hank & Tank was good, maybe the latter's best showing so far. Thinking we might see them at least challenge for the belts before the year out if they can keep this up.

Izzi/Brinley was decent while it lasted. By the end it was more about Tatum's strange interest in Izzi than anything else.

The Roxanne/Lola segment was not especially good. Roxanne did well, but Lola seemed to break down early when trying to tell her story and it came off more messy than intended. Still, it never lost the crowd so it at least served it's purpose in pushing Lola as a face here.

Oro/Myles had some nice stuff but it never fully came together for something worthwhile.

Choo/Bright was alright though I'm still not sure where they are going with Wendy's current nightmare change.

Karmen/Nyx was better than expected with the two working surprisingly well together. Could be something good here in the future after both get another year or more of experience on them. I did enjoy the backstage segments building to this match and for Heatwave's countdown show. Glad Grace is getting on the show in some form. I am curious to see if this is the beginning of a face turn for her or just something temporary for Heatwave.

The contract signing for the NXT title match had the usual expected feel of people just yapping at each other, but it did allow for some decent moments for Trick and Evans to shine.

Match wise not a great show. Nothing really stood out well after the first two though those were worthwhile in NCR vs. Hank/Tak & Mia/Jaida. Segment wise this was a little better in terms of building up Heatwave and other feuds though I think it also had the lowest point with the Lola/Roxanne segment. Decent enough show, but they have definitely had better.

Maybe she'd fare better if she stopped trying to do this in her sleep

Edited to add: I know I've made that joke before, but having someone who never wins have a theme song where the only intelligible words are "I can do this in my sleep" is just completely insane

So they finally released the Wrestlemania Behind the Scenes special that for some reason took months to get out.  Not sure if anything shocking came out of it.   The plan before the Rumble was Rock vs Reigns which most people probably already knew.  The Rock said he made the decision to change it because he thought that the short term interests wasn't going to be worth the long term pissing off the fans.  I don't know how much of Cody's part on this are working the angle or legit feelings, but you can tell how not happy he was about the original idea.   Hearing Gerwitz online complain that the thing that killed the angle was him not being enthusiastic about giving his spot to the Rock is even funnier knowing how obviously pissed he was.   Would have been nice to see more of them explaining to Cody or Cody telling about how he knew of the change.  But very good display of all the main event buildups.

Opening segment with the Men's MITB participants was alright. Jey and Knight standing tall at the end was nice to see.

Street Profits vs. Pretty Deadly was good. Good showcase for both teams.

Bianca/Jade vs. Indi/Candace was decent. Curious to see if and when a match with Unholy union goes down if it does.

Bayley/Piper was solid though a step down from their Clash match with the focus on giving the Women's MITB a chance to shine. Was good to see Nia attack post match and Mia make the save.

Owens's speech about his mother was lovely.

DIY vs. A-Town Down Under was pretty damn good. Loved how the action and nearfalls played out as the match went on. Was worried about the pacing with how much time left, but it got all the time it needed to breathe. Glad to see Ciampa and Gargano as champs. Its been good seeing their momentum grow the past few months and finally pay off here with the crowd fully behind them.

The final video was short but good with Solo making his reasons for dethroning Roman as Tribal Chief and his intentions to reclaim the title for the Bloodline clear. Cody is totally losing tomorrow.

Matches were pretty enjoyable though the standouts were definitely the men's tag. DIY vs. ATDU was damn near great and is definitely worth catching. The segments were decent and did a good job of building up the main event and MITB. Good show

I loved SD tonight. Just like last week, it was a great two hour wrestling TV show where everything made sense and was structured perfectly. Owens brought tears to my eyes during that great bit with the Babyface alliance. Then there was a tag title change that was perfectly booked and the closing Bloodline video that ruled.

OK, the opening bit with all the MITB guys was hokey and the Profits vs PD had some phony looking shit. But overall, this was a really fun show with a great crowd.

I thought they're just ripping off Hangman.

Very happy seeing DIY win world tag team titles on the main roster. Great tag team will hopefully get a great reign as well. Fittingly it was in the same arena DIY has a classic with The Revival at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. It's DIY's best match ever and The Revival's. *****.
