Dolfan in NYC Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Congrats to Kelani Jordan who's the first NXT North American Women's champ! But now that we've got our NXT show out of the way, we turn to Scotland! The Clash at the Castle is on Saturday! But before then... I'm guessing Liv Morgan has some diabolical shit planned. And so does Drew McIntyre! And maybe even AJ Styles? Let's see how this week goes! Glasgow is calling and I... live by the river! 2
Curt McGirt Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Weegie Hey, it made me look up this term I read in all the Irving Welsh books. Another one I like is "soap dodger". 1
Cliff Hanger Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Because someone has to say it... REAL GLASS! Ahem. Decent show. I like the idea of Lyra and the Party Girls, but does she have to start binge drinking and change her name to K-something C-something? 1
The Idiot King Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Pretty lousy RAW overall (with one of the deadest crowds in ages not helping anything), but Ricochet took a memorably nasty bump and that Dragunov/Bron match was really good and worth seeking out.
username Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Yeah I'm not sure they needed to actually write Ricochet out, he legit took what appeared to be an unintended 6-7 foot fall directly onto concrete/his spine. You do that after you get the bag, not before!
Eivion Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 (edited) Opening segment with Drew and Judgement Day was fine. The backstage stuff with Dom/Liv and Judgement Day's later reactions was better. Io/Lyra was good despite Lyra whiffing on some of her strikes. Dug the post match beatdown with being a little too much even for Dakota and Kairi. The KCs making the save was an unexpected surprise and something I'm happy to see. LWO/Strowman vs. Dom/JD/Carlito was generally solid. Have to say Carlito's current run throws me a little as he does some neat little things in and out of the ring but at other times he moves too slow and seems little lost for short periods. I am enjoying his current story with Judgement Day and LWO character wise. I just wish he was more consistent in ring wise. Liv's interference in this match late in was fun. Kind of dug Zelina attacking her. Could be an alright match if that is Liv's next defense. Sami's backstage meeting with Otis, Maxxine, and Tozawa was nice. Otis/Sami was mostly just another segment with how quick the match went. I do like Otis's reasons for not yet turning being revealed backstage beforehand. Shayna/Zoey vs. Unholy Union kind of pissed me off. Started off fine only for Shayna to take back control quickly and put away Fyre way too easily. Love Shayna, but she has never really been over to the degree they have wanted on the main roster. It just feels like a waste to squash a significantly better team in Fyre and Dawn just to put Shayna over. Ilja/Bron was damn good and brutal as a expected. The post mach save by Ricochet was nice and a good setup for the later backstage murder Bron committed on Ricochet. Awesome Truth vs. AoP came about kind of randomly but was fun while it lasted. This was more about letting New Day get a pinch of vengeance over Final Testament than anything else. Drew/Finn was good though felt weird as a heel vs. heel match. I did like that they at least tried to lean toward Drew playing face though it only worked so-so with this crowd. Io/Lyra, Bron/Ilja, & Drew/Finn all delivered match wise with Bron/Ilja unsurprisingly being MOTN. The Judgement Day/Liv and Sami/Alpha Academy drama continue to be strong points in terms of segments. Honestly, with just a decent crowd this would have been a fairly solid show. Sadly the crowd mostly sucked save a few moments and brought a lot down. Despite saying that there was still a decent amount I enjoyed here. times like this though just make you remember how long Raw is. Edited June 11, 2024 by Eivion 3
hammerva Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Well I guess "jobbing him out" is a more quick and painful way under Triple H unlike when Vince which is basically Chinese water torture. Although I say this and we still might get Samanta Irvin getting treated like crap to have her leave too
stuntmanc Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 As someone who was a huge fan of Bron in NXT, i can't put my finger on it but something about his main roster run so far is rubbing me the wrong way and not in a heel dynamic.
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 From F4W's story on Richochet being written out. Can someone explain why Eddie Guerrero, Hornswoggle and Michelle McCool (?) are on a WWE truck in 2024??

Is Bron like, really short? Ricochet is not tall by any means, but they really looked about the same height. I admittedly haven't watched a ton of Bron. But I remember him getting caught on the top rope once and I've only seen that happen to Rey and Juvi.
EVA Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I wouldn’t say “really short” but he’s definitely not what would traditionally be considered WWE Big. Like a lot of guy getting a push right now, he should probably be counting his lucky stars Vince isn’t around to turn him into Shorty B.
Curt McGirt Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I was knee deep in a long phone call with an old friend on the east coast but Raw was on, somebody was getting loaded into an ambo (it was Ricochet of course) and they just had Eddie doing that face on the side of the truck that you could see in the distance next to the ambo. It was really funny. 1
hammerva Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I am going to assume that it is really pricey and not really worth put a film new billboard/frame/whatever they are called every 8 months to stay reasonably current with the product. I swear I have seen WWE trucks in the last couple years that had Daniel Bryan or Sasha Banks on it 2

Bron is listed as 6'0" while Ricochet is listed as 5'9", but I agree, they looked closer in height than that listing would indicate. I think my issue is, while I like watching Ilja and Bron face off, why are you having Ilja lose(in good matches), then get beat up after. I know Ricochet was on his way out, so i get having Bron murder him, but there are plenty of other people to feed Bron. My viewership of Raw is limited, so if im offbase, let me know, but it feels like jobbing Ilja to Bron repeatedly is just turning him into JAG while pushing Bron. It makes no sense since Ilja/Gunther is a money feud in the future and Ilja should be on the same level as Bron.

His story is 'being cranky and lashing out about creative having nothing for him'. The majority of the roster has gone through creative droughts, and he's being childish about it, so much so that reasonable people are kind of able to take Creative's side on it. He was afforded time to be likable in the downtime that NXT sometimes afforded him.

It makes no sense since Ilja/Gunther is a money feud in the future and Ilja should be on the same level as Bron. Bron in the process of having a rocket strapped to his ass. He's a ridiculous combination of charisma, strength, and speed. He's extremely arrogant, but also extremely talented. Over the last couple of weeks, they're (to use a sports metaphor) having him see if he can hit major league pitching after his call up. Ilja gave him a much bigger test than he expected and he's pissed about it, because everything so far had come super easy. Also, it makes Bron look like a million bucks for having trouble with this guy and eventually figuring him out. Somewhere around halfway through the match, he realized he couldn't just impose his will, so he had to change tactics. When he eventually gets into a match with higher up guys like Sami, Jey, and Sheamus, they're gonna present entirely different challenges that he'll need more than just brute strength to defeat. So this was a very good lesson on that path up. If he's a babyface, he'd have shook Ilja's hand and moved on. He's not. So Ilja gets beat up. And when Ilja starts moving up on the card on his own, he's got a reason to hate this guy. Ilja also doesn't need to fight someone like Gunther right now. Frankly, he's still an unknown quantity to a lot of people. He'll get there (hopefully), right now though, it's about building Bron up. 2
stuntmanc Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 That makes total sense, thank you for explaining it.

Bron is billed at 6' but is probably around 5'9-5'10.
DragonZombie Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Iyo Sky vs Utami in Marigold at Sumo Hall soon. Both were former Queen's Quest unit members. 1

Jamal Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Unless they're winning the tag titles at the PPV (unlikely), having Isla and Alba beaten, after having not wrestled on tv in forever, is a head scratcher. They needed that win far more than Shayna and Zoey. I'm not sure who we're supposed to be rooting for with this Liv storyline. She's pretty much #metooing the most hated man on the roster. Glad to see KC2 get some sort of direction. Them and Lyra against Damage Control could be fun.
Cliff Hanger Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Real weird to see Michin turn heel with nobody getting betrayed, jumped, or injured and without the announcers even mentioning that Gallows and Anderson are back with AJ. I hope Je'von is just selling that table to the gut because it looked incredibly painful. I hate big battles royale on regular TV shows. Lola's face turn is complete. I wouldn't mind seeing her be the one to take the belt off Roxy, but not yet. Thea:Chase U::Rhea:TJD. I hope Dante came up with the Singapore Cane idea because I kind of hoped that after 30 years we were done with that terminology. Match wasn't super exciting. Jacy should have worn the Undashing mask at the end there. 1
