Dolfan in NYC Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Apparently Jade Cargill's luggage was lost by the airlines, so I'm sure Bianca is at this exact moment visiting every Scottish fabric store in the area. Also, this is awesome... 9
The Natural Posted June 15 Posted June 15 (edited) CM Punk needs to come out in a Germany shirt and cost Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship vs. Damien Priest. Nuclear heat. Edited June 15 by The Natural
odessasteps Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Wonder if the mood will be dampened after that thrashing Scotland got last night in the EUROs. wonder if any of the heels will wear a Mannschafft kit for cheap heat
Kevin Wilson Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I still don't really understand why they have PLEs, even "B" Level ones (although Scotland may disagree) with only five matches. I completely understand why people are against AEW's 12+ match PPVs that can run four hours but five matches just seems too few. Especially since WWE has an incredibly deep roster and other storylines going on for RAW and SD, they could have put a couple more matches that made sense and would give the fans more action. Six to Eight always felt like a good sweet spot no one would really complain about, even if a match was on the pre-show. At least all five matches are title matches, and all should get plenty of time so those are two benefits of shorter cards, no fluff, straight to the point. But if I was there live and paid $800 for floor seats I would think I'd just want more bang for my buck. For me casually watching on a Saturday afternoon it'll be fine and I guess it'll be over in time for me to still do something tonight so I'm not really complaining, just a little confused. 2
EVA Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I feel like they sell more adds on these shows than ever before, so I’ve no doubt they’ve shaved at least one match off the run sheet for more ad space.
odessasteps Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I wonder if that is a WWE decision or a Universl/Peacock decision.
Eivion Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I prefer 5-6 matches for these smaller PLEs to 8 or more. Everything usually feels better paced with some actual breathing and they don't go 4+ hours. I only want 8 matches on bigger shows like Summerslam, Survivor Series, etc. 3
EVA Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I’m not a stopwatch fan, but I just glanced at Wikipedia for the last two 5-match shows, and they both were at about 1:30 to 1:40 in match time…on a three hour show. Even tacking on another 20 minutes for entrances, post-match, etc, we’re still talking about an hour-plus of down time across the night. I think that’s the part that feels bad while you’re watching live, and I don’t know that it appreciably helps matches to have 10 minutes of KFC and Mountain Dew ads between them. I bet it’s murder in the building. Commercials always were the worst part of going to TV tapings.
Eivion Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I think the last ones were actually under 3 hours. And entrances, post match, and potential segments take up far more time than you think. The wrestling might have been 90 minutes, but the rest of that was almost certainly an another 30 or more when added up. I think the commercials are more of an at home thing as I want to say I have heard of people seeing segments and other things outside of NA where the network is still a thing on its own.
Ramo2653 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 The commercials are really noticeable with the extra recaps and promos we get with Peacock with no ads. I wonder how that plays out in the arena. I'm on board with the shorter shows personally it means I don't have to block off big chunks of my day/night for these. Heck I did some gardening before the show, got tacos to eat and I'm going to a wine festival down the street once this show is over. A longer show would negate some of these for me. 3
hammerva Posted June 15 Posted June 15 So who really is the heel in this Punk vs McIntyre feud. After that finish I am not sure.
Kevin Wilson Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I've been watching wrestling for 30 years and I can't remember someone's ankle getting stuck on the ropes like that, to the point the referee couldn't even get Priest freed. Course it impacted the match, hope that Priest is ok and it was just an ankle twist and not something more serious. Jade had another rough night, I wonder if they are going to disappear her for a few months for more training. Its not just she makes mistakes here or there, she just seems to get lost at some point every match and its pretty noticeable. None of the matches reached "great" for me but I enjoyed Cody/AJ, Bayley/Niven, and Zayn/Gable. I was shocked Drew lost, I really thought he'd kick out, win, and then pose with the belt while pointing at Punk. Drew is a good sport to lose two straight in the UK, the crowd just completely deflated though.
Ramo2653 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 It's still Drew, he started it with Punk, Punk is just going to finish it apparently. But Drew becoming the WWE version of Frank Grimes is forever hilarious. 4 1
Eivion Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Cody/AJ was generally good with some neats moments, but I Quit matches are so off from normal matches and even normal brawls they're always a little harder for me to rate. The Women's tag titles match was mess in a mostly decent manner until the Jade hot tag came late in. Its a pity that went off the way it did. Still, I'm happy Unholy Union won. They were the best team. Hopefully they actually give them and the belts a push though I have my doubts unless they plan to continue the Bianca/jade tandem. Sami/Gable was pretty good as expected. Thought the Alpha Academy drama late in was mostly done well. Bayley/Piper was damn good. Loved how dominant Piper was. I also loved all the little changes Bayley made or straight new things she busted out to take on an opponent of Piper's size and level. Chelsea Green was fun in her obnoxious moments. Priest/Drew was far better than expected. The two worked well together, and Priest deserves so many props for managing to work past that ankle tie up in the ropes. That was damn scary, and you tell how fucked his leg was as the match went on. Hopefully its not too serious. The Punk interference at the end was expected and well done though it feels weird given the face status Punk enjoyed up until this moment. Only weak match here was the Women's tag titles. Thought the other four were at least good with bayley/Piper and Priest/Drew being notable standouts. Solid-good show. 2

hammerva Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Punk wearing a Celtic FC shirt in the press conference is just the ultimate asshole move. only thing missing is eating a damn muffin 3
