Forbidden Door III - 6/30/2024

Recommended Posts

Finally got to see the rest of the show, aside from the Danielson match, which I slept through the first time.

ZSJ vs OC was really good, probably not the best match they could have together, but really solid stuff, nonetheless. Really strong win for ZSJ, which was a bit of a surprise, but a welcome one. He hasn't had those at Forbidden Doors of yore.

On a re-watch, the Learning Tree & Cobb vs Shi-HO-Joe, Jeff Cobb wasn't nearly as dominant as he was when he interfered at Collision, so that already kinda ruined the angle I was so excited about. Dammit.

The ladder match was exciting and it was funny that people were pretty much ready to cheer for anyone else winning, other than Jungle Jesus. He had a more active performance in the match than I thought he would, and like the announcers said, he "earned" it. I'm not sure if that was the best way to go, but that's how it went, so ok.

Stephanie Wanker had an amazing performance that turned Mone a heel whether she wanted it or not, of course the nail in that coffin was DMD returning. Yeah, aside from her debut in Boston, Mone's pops haven't been anywhere near that one. Holy shit! Anyway, if NXT got Steph right after this one, it was a super shrewd business move and I have to applaud it, even though I wouldn't like to. She's a super asset to any damn company!

Mox vs Naito was a pretty good match (I guess?) Moxley looked to be in a fantastic shape. Naito bares such a weird facial resemblance to a late Finnish singer/drunk Irwin Goodman (at certain stage of Goodman's career, anyway) that I just have really hard time getting into his matches. Big redemption win for him, nonetheless.

Swerve vs Ospreay was fantastic, but I did doze off during the latter middle part of it. At the weigh-in, Ospreay looked so strong that I was pretty certain he wasn't winning, and it was the right move at this time. Swerve is now THE GUY! Ospreay's valiant effort, the refusal to use the screwdriver and emoting (of both men) at the end made him look strong enough that I wouldn't see him losing too much momentum over this loss.

A strong PPV, but like many others, best watched in more than one sitting.

Helluva autocorrect

Thanks, but that was intentional. That's what I hear in my head when her name is mentioned, so that will be her name, until NXT gives her a worse one.
