Zimbra Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I have a really bad right eye and an only a little bad left eye so my depth perception is absolutely fucked and anything 3D or VR that tries to trick my binocular vision gives me a splitting headache. I'm also in the can't wear contacts club which is a bummer because at least until a couple of years ago I could have gotten away with only wearing one in my right eye. 1
odessasteps Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I now have diabetic retinopathy, which for now means getting a shot in the eye every few months. Since it’s now been two years, I’ve now gotten used to it.

(I'm extremely nearsighted FWIW) My prescription is actually milder than anyone else in my family, it's just that glasses can't fix "my optic nerves stopped growing earlier than they should have." It's not as bad as it could be, I had more vision than a lot of the people at blind camp etc, but I will never drive a car and so am acutely aware of how bad bus service is in Austin and Houston. 2

When I was in high school I started wearing contacts and had to get the hard glass permeable kind with the way my vision was. The kind where you have to clean the same pair every night and losing one means having to shell out another $70 or so (or finding a fossilized lens in a case somewhere with an out of date prescription). I had Lasik in 2018 and wish I'd done it a lot sooner. The recovery and residual soreness plus the time it took for my vision to fully "settle" took longer than I thought, but it wasn't an all together unpleasant experience aside from that Clockwork Orange gimmick they strap you into. My night vision isn't as good as it once was with streetlights having the blur to them, but that's a small tradeoff. My vision in my right eye is a little worse than the left, but the doctor actually said that's beneficial as it will take me longer to need reading glasses. Wasn't Stan Hansen known for being blind as shit without his glasses and that being one of the reasons he lariated the shit out of people so hard? Tom Zenk (or "Tom Zenk") was the first person I ever heard say that so I never gave it that much credence, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out it's true.
SovietShooter Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 So, there is a report in this week's Observer that the WWE has raised the minimum main roster salary to $350K per year. So, I did a compare/contrast with some quick math... I'm counting a total of 126 wrestlers on the "main roster" as listed on Wikipedia (Raw & Smackdown only, no NXT). 126 x $350K = $44.1MM per year. WWE's total revenue for 2003 was $1.32B in 2023, according to a quick Google search. The major professional sports leagues in the US (NFL/MLB/NBA/NHL/MLS) all split revenues with the players at around 40%-50%. So, if WWE talent got a split in the same ballpark (say 45%), that would mean around $594M to the talent per year. If you divide that by 126, that is roughly $4.7M per wrestler, per year. Of the 126 wrestlers on the WWE roster, how many do you think actually make $4.7M per year? 1
Raziel Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 6. Cody, Roman, Orton, Seth, Becky, Charlotte. Would be my guess.

odessasteps Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 I recall it ended up being more of a FAQ for info as opposed to the main site. 1

The core DVDVR folks definitely posted there, but you’re right it could take a couple hours or more to get posts through which made it hard to enjoy. I think one of the motivations of this board was to make an alternative?
J.H. Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 If memory serves me correct... I discovered DVDVR via RSPW-F playing in SJPW and GDWA. I specifically remember an early issue of DVDVR where DEAN~! said he was going to name his first born The Great Sasuke I'm assuming Angie put the kibosh on that right away James 2

I have lattice retina degeneration (X!) in one eye, probably the same eye I blacked running into a metal baseball bat in the 3rd grade.
