DC Movies & TV - 2024

I thought the first episode of Suicide Squad Isekai was pretty good to set up the whole premise, etc.  Though it kept throwing me off that Jun Fukuyama sounds a lot more like Lelouch in it than in other shows that he's been in and is not a kind of voice I would picture Clayface having.

I shed a few tears at Conroy's final performance but the waterworks really came pouring when the Alex Toth Super Friends made a final appearance!

There’s apparently a complete Super Friends complete collection coming with JLGL box art.

Isn’t this rumored to be a musical?  The trailers don’t indicate that at all.

"Musicals don't sell."   That's been the Hollywood law since the 60's.  He's singing a couple of bars here and there.  And it's been confirmed by multiple sources that it's a jukebox musical, with about 15 covers.  No originals.

Todd Phillips says that Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker will never become Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime. “Arthur clearly is not a criminal mastermind. He was never that”

So why is the movie called "Joker" then? Should have just called it The Taxi Driving King of Comedy, if you weren't actually making a movie about the Joker.

I have a feeling Phillips is going to follow through with his intention for the first one to

Spoiler

kill Bruce. Like, tween Bruce tries to get justice/vengeance in some way and Arthur totally wrecks him.

Beats me, but it's interesting that Phillips' assessment matches mine. I thought Joker was an interesting story of a broken man eventually snapping, but it didn't work for me as an origin for The Joker. I could buy Arthur becoming a monster, but I didn't buy that he could ever turn into a big enough threat that only the world's greatest crimefighter could deal with him.

If DC wants Joker to be in continuity with their other films (which they might, given how successful it was) they could always have the Joker who fights Batman be a younger, smarter man who was inspired by Arthur.

Well Arthur is in his late 30s/early 40s at the time of Joker, and Bruce Wayne is like 10, and before becoming Batman Bruce has to go to college, drop out and travel the world for a few years. So by the time Batman starts fighting crime, Arthur Fleck would be in his late 50s at the youngest. And they're generally portrayed as near contemporaries... Nicholson Joker was older than Keaton Batman, but not that dramatically.
