I will not overreact to preseason

I will not overreact to preseason

My preseason mantra is always to remind myself the Lions went 4-0 in the 2008 preseason.

Darren Waller is really trying to get me to draft him again this year in the DVDVR Money League after killing me several times last year.

Oh the flip side - James Robinson was playing in the 4th quarter with the 6th string guys

Saquon signing so quickly really boned him

I'm only a casual NFL fan but I kind of adore NFL pre-season. I especially like hearing the regional NFL announcers and their special guests. My three faves so-far:

-The Seattle crew which consisted of their usual announcer, a former Seahawk and a current Seahawk coach and they spend the entire time talking about the Seahawks, referring to the players by their first names and cheering for them with phrases like "I told him! I told him to do that!" and you wouldn't have known therefore two teams playing judging by the commentary and then it abruptly cuts out with a loud crack before you hear this super-serious, super-polished broadcaster voice and he says something like "Due to technical dificulties, we have lost the Seahawk broadcast"

-I can't remember which game it was but the guest commentator had this boisterous, hoarse PE teacher voice repeatedly shouting about "smash mouth football". And the pbp guy seemed to really enjoy breaking his balls and started reading tweets about him: Mina Kimes says she loves hearing your dulcet tones and he laughed and said "I dunno about dulcet" and then the Pbp goes " Another tweet asks if you swallowed a hotdog while you were calling the game" and he kind of chuckles sadly

-One of the guys in the Giants game last night who just HATED rookies. Every time there was a bad play he'd blame it on a rookie. He'd make comments like "The coaching staff told me he's improved his footwork so if it's still that bad, that should tell you how bad he was!" and " Well that's the problem with playing rookies! "

Bryce Young has vanquished Andy Dalton and will start week 1 for Carolina.

CJ Stroud will start Houston's next pre-season game and according to Schefter, will probably start week 1.

After watching a little of the Panthers vs Giants game, I have a have a bad feeling he ain't finishing this season.  Not because of his size.  It is because his line is just awful

Pats rookie CB Isaiah Bolden was carted off the field last night causing the Pats/Packers preseason game to be "suspended" (they aren't gonna continue it)

Bolden has seen been released from the hospital and is traveling back home with the team

The Pats were supposed to have two joint practices in Tennessee but those are off as New England wants to return home and regroup before going back to play the Titans later in the week

Colts have given Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade to a team that will give him an extension.

I can't imagine there are very many teams willing to both trade away meaningful assets and give a running back coming of an injury plagued season and the end of his rookie deal a big money multi-year deal, but he can at least look.

So the Ravens pre-season winning streak was broken last night and of course it was by the Commanders and to say they were excited about it is an understatement.  Going to get delusional this week.

The home of Titans CB Caleb Farley exploded overnight. Farley was not home but his father was killed in the explosion. One other person was injured. The home was completely destroyed.

Jets WR Corey Davis is retiring.

Man he was great at Western Michigan (and his older brother Titus broke some of Antonio Brown's records at Central Michigan. Gotta be kinda weird having your younger brother go play for your school's biggest, most hated rival.)

Didn't have the NFL career people expected, but hopefully he's getting out healthy and with a full bank account.

The Trey Lance Era is over for the Niners:

Imagine getting beat out by Sam Darnold and Brock Purdy coming off of surgery. Yikes.

Imagine trying to trade the guy who has basically played one game and you just told the whole league isn't good enough to beat out Sam Darnold.

The whole sage with trading up and ending up like this should be a fireable offense. . .

I agree,  but if you hire a Shanahan you have to account for some quarterback foolishness. If you get hired when John Elway is on the team,  great, but I'd listen to almost anybody else when it comes their valuation of a quarterback.

Is there a mendoza line for a player who comes to a team and asks to sign a one-day contract to retire with that team? What if you want to do this for multiple teams,  could you do it? If so,  how many teams? What if Deion Sanders wanted to retire as a Falcon,  a 49er, and a Cowboy,  do they have to get together and decide who gets dibs? Am I the only one who has ever though about this?
