Lee has been the rumored front runner even before Casey stepped down officially.

There's also rumblings about there possibly being mutual interest between them and Juwan Howard.

At least with Juwan, you get a guy you know will throw hands if the next Malice at the Palace happens. With a better than 50% chance he instigated it.

So... Dolan's shitbirdiness may have come to roost.

In the 1960's New York demolished Penn Station because it had gotten decrepit and was going to cost a fortune to renovate and refurbish.  So... a shitty replacement was thrown underground and some office buildings and a new Madison Square Garden was built on top of it.

Now this is important for a couple of reasons...  first everyone agrees that Penn Station is the absolute worst and (looking back) shouldn't have been torn down.  Second, MSG has to ask for permission to operate above it when the lease renewal comes up.

Enter Moynihan Station.

New York has retrofitted/replaced the huge post office across the street from MSG into a new and very nice station.  If you've been to NYC recently, you can testify to it.  (I have a few issues, but that's irrelevant.) The question is though, should they keep going and try to fix the whole thing, because right now, it's only half fixed up, and half awful old shitty Penn.

Back to MSG... they got permission in 2013 to operate for 10 more years on the same spot as part of their last lease.  This year however, time's up and they decided to ask to operate there in perpetuity. Which, obviously would kill any plans for a new train station.

A community board has just, half-unexpectedly, told them to go fuck themselves.   They have 3 years to pack their shit and find a replacement spot.

Now, this is non-binding but it is a very important advisory council.  The board with actual power meets in July.

So this is a long winded post to say... keep an eye on this.  Stuff may get interesting soon.

The Moynihan side is gorgeous.  For as much love as I have for MSG (mostly pre-Dolan), tear the fucker down and fix Penn (And the portal Bridge and add more tunnels between Penn and Jersey, but that's another argument, and I'm more a "Take the PATH from Newark to WTC" commuter).

I feel so old learning Arvydas Sabonis has a son playing in the NBA.

If it helps you feel any younger, he's only been in the league for seven seasons.

Was that a Robert Moses project? I have no idea about NYC, but that book by Robert Caro is amazing.

No.  But, also yes?

The Pennsylvania Railroad Co. actually ordered the demolition of the original Penn. They wanted something new there and had been bitching since the '50s to get a new building.  Coincidentally, Moses was *extremely* unpopular by the '60s.  He was trying at that point to carve up Central Park to add parking lots and run an elevated highway over Greenwich Village through SoHo.

Penn Station got demolished and he was 100% percent blamed for it, even though he actually didn't have anything to do with that in particular. The idea was his "development at all costs" mindset had cost NYC one of the greatest treasures in American building history.   Basically every other project he had for the city died at that point.

Then he fucked up the World's Fair badly and was all but powerless a year later.

Well, I don't know I've watched an NBA game since the era of the NWO Heat, in whatever year that was.

Sheppard saying he wanted to bring everyone back probably wasn't good for his job security

That being said - Ted is usually WAY more patient than this

Giannis is officially out for game 2.  Fuckin' basketball.

Also Mike Brown is your unanimous coach of the year.

Unanimous seems a little excessive, but only a little.

Ian Eagle just called a bucket a "Konchar deuce." Sounds like some kind of weird sex thing.

I have no idea. Was Nurse good or was he just lucky to get the job the same season Kawhi took his foreign gap year?

The new CBA was officially ratified

If folks missed the official lists of "changes" - they can be found

Probably the biggest thing that doesn't related directly to salaries is that the Mid season tournament will now happen (most likely starting next season) - all games but the Final will count as part of the regular season

Also - the league will no longer test for marijuana use

Raps fired Nurse, who was supposedly going to the Rockets, with Udoka supposedly going to the Raps.

Rockets sign Udoka.

So what happens to Nurse and what happens to the Raps?

Crazy times. I thought Masai had Udoka locked down.

Well if Bleacher Report is to be believed - the Raptors are going bold and have asked for permission to interview Becky Hammon

Gonna leave this here because there is no OtherLeagues thread.

Huge EuroBasket brawl between Partizan and Real Madrid, including a killer Yabu suplex. Brock Lesnar like.

Damn. Poor Dante Exum.

(Also, the way so many players get to the NBA so young makes things really weird. Exum played seven years in the NBA, this is his second year playing overseas, and he's still only 27.)

People listen and take rumours seriously too often. Ujiri and Udoka know each other and Nurse was on the hotseat so someone wrote some clickbait. People in the know say bringing in Udoka probably wouldn't have been approved by the ownership board. Jerry Stackhouse is the guy a lot of people are wanting to come in

Giannis may not be a failure, but a journalist who asked him the same question last year and then had all the time to come up with something better, but didn't?  Yeah, maybe *that* fucking guy is a failure.

This is probably 100% related to the RSN collapse, so I don't know about all these flowers they're giving him, but...

Shams is reporting that the Grizz have informed Dillon Brooks that they will not be bringing him back next year "under any circumstances."

Lol.  Lmao, even.
