I'm going to Streetlight Manifesto on July 6th at the Stone Pony Summer Stage. Maybe I'll try to skank with my lady friend I'm taking. It might take a few drinks to get me to dance.

I saw Tyler Childers on Friday in Alpharetta. He was someone I got into right before the pandemic started, and the only show I could have made by the time I was aware of him was a show he and Sturgill did in Birmingham in February of 2020. I was pretty stoked about this one, and I don't think the show disappointed at all. His backing band is incredible, and you can tell they've been playing with him for over a decade now; however, the real treat of the set was the solo acoustic middle of Lady May>Nose on the Grindstone>Follow You to Virgie. I highly recommend checking him out if you're into that brand of Country/Americana at all.

The next tickets I have actually purchased are for the co-headlining tour  between Nathaniel Rateliff & the NIght Sweats and My Morning Jacket. I'm excited for both, but I'm really excited to get MMJ off of my want to see list.

I'm sure I'll maybe squeeze something in before then.

When it was announced about a week ago that the HFStival was coming back, people in the DC area was having  good flashback.  Well they released the lineup or at least the most important of it.  Not sure if this is going to get the buzz they thought but probably the best they can do.

Honestly, I'd love that lineup. Postal Service, JEW, and Death Cab were my highschool soundtracks and Girl Talk was constantly playing at college parties. The other bands are all ones I enjoy, except Tonic.

I've been lucky enough to see MMJ play some major hometown shows and they never disappoint.

One of my favorite things I've ever experienced live is the Jim James Rock and Soul Superjam at Bonnaroo 2013.

I went to go see Molly Tuttle last night. It was a solo show at a small auditorium. Despite the fact that she has now won back-to-back Grammys for Bluegrass Album of the Year, it wasn't quite a sellout.

But my goodness, did she bring it. She's an absolute phenom on guitar. I think my introduction to her was her collabs with Billy Strings, and at the time I assumed the intricate guitar parts were just his, since I didn't know much about her then. Hoo boy was I wrong. She is every bit as capable, if not more so, than any other top bluegrass guitarist working today.

It was my first time at one of her shows, so I don't know if this is common: the encore was a single song. But, it was a really cool experience. She unplugged her guitar, stepped out from behind the mic to come to the front of the stage, and had the crowd join her in singing along with Neil Young's "Helpless." My hundreds of listens to his Unplugged album paid off in this case; I probably fumbled the odd word or two but otherwise did OK.

All told: if you have any appreciation for bluegrass and its adjacent genres, you would be remiss to not go see Molly Tuttle should an opportunity present itself. I definitely plan on going to more of her shows in the future.

She played here at a nursery, which has become one of the unique venues in our small town. Can handle maybe 100 people in attendance. I regret not going to it. I just kept putting off buying the tickets for it.

Funny thing is, I almost did the same. Show on Tuesday, bought my ticket the Sunday before. Not sure why I've procrastinated on concert tickets lately, but it's been a bad habit.

I knew I was going to get my money's worth by the first or second song. Hopefully she comes around your neck of the woods again.

Missed out on seeing her Austin City Limits taping.  Put in for the ticket lottery, but no luck.  Hoping  to see her at some point.  Ideally with Golden Highway.

I saw the co-headlining tour for Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and My Morning Jacket on Saturday in Metro Atlanta. Rateliff sounds fantastic and is someone I wanted to see live. "I need never get old" is just a fun tune to just act out to in general, but I've been chasing the opportunity to see Jacket for some time. They are as incredible in person as has been stated in the past. I also got what could not have been a better first show setlist from them, and stuff like Wordless Chorus and One Big Holiday are just experiences live.  I'll definitely catch them again at some point.

I saw Ted Leo + The Pharmacists last weekend for the Shake the Sheets 20th anniversary tour.  It was awesome, which I expected, but I did not expect to hear him do a cover of the Ramones' Bonzo Goes to Bitburg.

I got tickets to two shows yesterday. October 26th is It Dies Today, Walls of Jericho, Eighteen Visions, This is Hell, Ringworm, Too Pure To Die, and Ender.

December 14th is Streetlight Manifesto.

Both shows are at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.

This past weekend, we did our first-ever full-family concert road trip. Drove to Cincinnati Friday to see Vampire Weekend. Little man had some trouble finding a good sightline, but we found a spot next to the soundboard and lighting guy that worked. Ended up being a great choice as the lighting guy gave us his setlist after the show.

Stayed the night there and then drove up to Cuyahoga Falls the next day for The National with The War on Drugs. WoD is probably my favorite active band. It was my fifth time seeing them, and they get better every time. The National's set was awesome, too. We had lawn seats and it was a gorgeous, cool night.

Both kids were troopers and had a blast. We're already looking for shows we can all go to again.

I was jamming out to Live Drugs Again on Friday night during my workout. Excellent stuff. "The Boxer" is one of my favorite albums, and I still want to see Vampire Weekend.

Vampire Weekend is a band I really love, but am still shocked at how awesome they are live. Just a super-tight band that still feels loose, somehow. They're just a really fun show.

I went to see Casey Musgraves last night who I've been wanting to see for a bit. Was really good but I wish she did more than two songs from her first two albums, although she did finish with rainbow which I love and was hoping to hear. Also the audience was about 80-90 percent female which was unusual for me! I'm more used to the slayer audience which is like 80-90 percent beefy dudes with beards
