Hoo Boy

So... news was getting out that US National Team coach Gregg Berhalter had been accused of domestic violence in his past. Berhalter - clearly getting out in front of it - issues a lengthy statement that was basically when he was 18, he was drunk and kicked his then girlfriend (now wife) in the legs. (There is a lot more too it obviously)

Well how did US Officials find out you ask?

Yeah - Claudio Reyna and his wife, Danielle, were so pissed that their son, Gio, wasn't playing at the world cup that they told them

Insane story. Claudio’s wife was Berhakter’s wife’s roommate in college.

"Soccer Mom tries to blackmail coach's superiors because she thinks they're not playing their kid enough" is something I expect out of a U12 team. Not a World Cup level Men's National Team. It is quintessentially Soccer Karen-Mom, however.

Former Chelsea striker and manager Gianluca Vialli has passed away at the age 58 from pancreatic cancer. This sucks. Condolences to Vialli's family and friends at this difficult time xxx.

It's only January and Chelsea are already out of the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and are 10th in the Premier League. Chelsea are knocked out in the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in 25 years.

I think the lifetime bans for coaches was the big part of it to me.

And here's a cross over no one had thought of. Lucha Libre and Soccer!

(sorry for the Daily Heil link)

Thinking about the tricks that soccer players can pull off, and the flexibility and agility of Lucha Libre... it'd be fun. Although Penta spamming cero miedo before taking a PK would get old.

But not PLAYING in Lucha Masks.

We all know it's because FIFA won't allow it*

The interfering with play rule was all about stopping an offside from a player who is twenty yards from play leading to a disallowed goal, which makes a load of sense. However, when the ball is passed to you, you almost stumble over it and your team mate almost collides with you to kick the ball, that has to be an offside. Defenders are moving to deal with you, goalies have you in their sight, all that type of stuff.
