Dolfan in NYC

Recommended Posts

While I feel like they've been doing a real good job with the three man booths lately, it'll be nice and cleaner with just two people doing the announcing.

My first choice for NXT probably would have been to bring Nigel back, since he's already there doing Level Up.

Though most importantly is the triumphant return of Queen Cathy. Hunter really getting the band back together.

Never heard Kevin Patrick. Kind of happy Saxton isn't doing commentary anywhere. He has just never been good, and I weirdly enough think he makes Graves worse. Wade making it to the big show is cool, but I will miss him in NXT. Would have rather they brought back Nigel for NXT. He was good and worked well with Vic. Didn't hate Smith, but he just was not good. He managed ok chemistry with Graves, but he always had trouble keeping up.

But...  he has another offer already!

I heard about this on either Luke Thomas or Jimmy Smith's radio show last year. Sean Wheelock actually did porno PBP.

I've been a Jimmy Smith fan since his Bellator days, thought he was the best and most natural guy for that 'voice of RAW' role they had in years, sad to see him gone so soon.

Never liked Vic Joseph much but thought he and Wade had developed a solid chemistry. Weird thing to randomly mix everything up so much.

Glad Cathy Kelley is back.

Like Kevin Patrick.

Shame about Jimmy Smith.

Miss Nigel McGuinness on the big shows.

So apparently Nigel McGuiness has been released.  Or he requested his release.   He was pretty much wasted in NXT-UK but you could argue the entire NXT-UK was a waste.   Personally I  think he would be a better option than Booker.

L.A. Knight is back.

Zelina replaced Elektra. Guess Elektra needs more time in NXT.

Some Rabbit in the crowd.

Fans were really into GUNTHER vs Sheamus.

While Smackdown's setup is the same, still doesn't rule out if Raw's setup and etc changes.

Solo/Ricochet was short but nice. As was Raquel/Shotzi vs. Sonya/Xia.

Legado coming to Smackdown was good to see. Kind of torn on Zelina replacing Elektra. It doesn't feel right with the family feel they kind of build in. On the other hand Zelina is way ahead in the ring and on the mic so it makes sense, not that mic work matters too much as Escobar is pretty sold on his own.

The return of LA Knight was neat to see.

Bloodline vs. New Day/Braun was solid. DUg how the Jey/Sami was played here.

GUNTHER/Sheamus wasn't as good as the first, but still good. Dug Sheamus's weapon of choice coming back to haunt him in the form of a shillelagh lariat at the very end. The faux tapout did hurt things a pinch. Could have been better executed or left out entirely.

GUNTHER doing the Sakuraba fake tap-out deal (IIRC in Pride you had to tap three times for it to count, Sakuraba would do it twice to mess with people) popped me but given how I'm not sure that specific rule even exists here it sure seemed like an odd choice.

MAN! I'm late.  Let me explain.  My neighborhood appears to have become a feral cat colony,  A cat had kittens underneath my house a few weeks ago,  as I discovered two kittens two days ago but the mother was sort of hanging around so I let them be.  Today, these two kittens were wandering around my front yard so me and my youngest son gathered them up before they were CRUSHED by a car or eaten by a hawk or coyote and pitbull,  My youngest daughter came over and took a look at them and noticed they weren't weened yet and did all these things to them to keep them alive and took them home with her.  AND my youngest son has a good job in the city, working for the man every night and day!  So I had to drive 25 minutes to pick him up in town when he got off work at 10.  So it's 11:15 and I've got four hours of wrestling to BULL THROUGH!  FUCK YEAH!  BUSY!  And it's Ricochet versus Solo Sikoa.  NICE Tope by Ricochet.  NICE Lionsault by Ricochet.  Then Sikoa beats the life out of him.  Sikoa does a Nerve Hold!  Ricochet gets in a second flurry of offense!  Ricochet goes for a Something Off The Top but Sikoa grabs him in midair and Uranagis him for the win!  SHOTZI'S TANK!  I assume Aliyah is injured.  Shotzi assumes the role as Raquel Rodriguez's Partner.  Sonya Deville is fucking awesome.  Xia Li is pretty good.  Rodriguez makes the hot tag and destroys Li and Deville!  The easiest gig in the WWE is Partner Of Rodriguez.  It's the New Day and Braun Strowman versus the Usos and Sami Zayn.  I hadn't really seen Strowman until this run and I dig him.  He likes to tell a little story.  The New Day do a GREAT Tandem Over The Toprope Plancha thingy!  Kofi Kingston is our face in peril.  Jey tags Sami like Akira Hokuto tagging Shinobu Kandori so this is completely awesome.  Meanwhile, Strowman is on the apron.  Strowman makes the hot tag and rampages through the Bloodline!  Jey and Sami yell at each other as Jimmy gets beaten to death.  Strowman tags in Kofi and CRUSHES Jey and Sami at ringside.  The New Day get the pin!  That was good.  Hey!  It's Sheamus versus Gunther!  I imagine that this will be okay.  Sheamus goes on offense to start it off.  GUNTHER goes all Memphis by punching to transition to offense, just replace the word "punch" with "chop".  Then they start beating the fuck out of each other.  GUNTHER puts an end to the section by German Suplexing Sheamus.  They go back to beating the fuck out of each other.  I'm trying to think of a more violent match on TV.  Maybe Finlay/Regal or Finlay/Benoit?  Either way, THIS IS FUCKING GREAT.  Toprope Air Raid Crash by Sheamus!  SUWA Dropkick by GUNTHER into a Powerbomb!  FOR TWO!  This match is fucking great as GUNTHER hits a Superfly Splash!  GUNTHER taps but doesn't tap?  Huh?  GUNTHER with a Shillelagh-assisted Lariat for the win!  The non-tapping out section mars this but this was fucking great.  Not as harrowing as the match on PPV but the most violent match to appear on TV this century.  HHH! HHH! HHH!
