  1. I'm doing this thread early because there isn't a UFC title fight before 2/7. I've declared @DreamBroken the winner of the 2020 contest. DreamBroken had Miranda Maverick winning the Invicta 125lb title in addition to Maverick winning her UFC debut. Although Maverick didn't win an Invicta title, she won her last Invicta fight at 125 and did win her UFC debut. He also had Weidman bouncing back and winning multiple fights. Even though Weidman only competed once, he remained 1-0 through the year. I also gave AxB credit for two as he correctly predicted Cerrone to go winless in 2020 and also that two UFC champions would retain with three defenses each. Just like the Weidman prediction, I'm giving credit to AxB for the first part due to the strange circumstances of the year. I went to a tiebreaker to determine a winner and DreamBroken won the tiebreaker by correctly predicting five current UFC champions (Stipe, Volkanovski, Figueiredo, and Nunes 2x) to AxB's two (Figueiredo and Shevchenko). So congrats to DreamBroken. I will PM you once I figure out how I am going to configure the prizes for the contest. Anyway, here are the rules for this year's contest: RULES: You get five predictions. Your five predictions must be different from everyone else. In the case of someone posting duplicates, whoever posted it first will get it. Can't be super vague. (ex. a UFC belt will only be defended twice. However, the UFC middleweight title will switch hands twice is acceptable.) I am not going to try to figure out what you mean. Simply saying "X will fight for and win/successfully defend the __________ title" or any other variation is prohibited. If you want to do that, you can just put that in your tiebreakers like any other year. Predictions of events that are pretty much a foregone conclusion will be automatically disqualified. I will ask you to substitute or add on to that prediction. Examples would be: A UFC or any MMA fight or event will be canceled or postponed due to covid. (Fighter X) will test positive for covid. Jon Jones will move up to the heavyweight division Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will negotiate to fight in the near future. UFC will have fans in attendance this year. Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno will have a rematch at some point. Weird stuff like drug tests, injuries, deaths, or COVID positives, we will stay away from because of obvious reasons and it lacks creativity. First one to three or the closest to three correct predictions wins. The tiebreak, if needed, will be the UFC champions on January 17, 2022 (Martin Luther King Day). No two people can have the exact same twelve champions on their list. Remember, I will generally side with the more specific ones especially if two or more people get three correct. If both have two or three quality correct predictions, I will then go to the tiebreaker. An amendment to this is going forward: you have to pick champions for EVERY division. I noticed AxB didn't pick a Women's Featherweight champion last year. I don't want someone to miss out on a tiebreaker just cause they didn't feel like picking a champion. So again, going forward, the tiebreaker should include a predicted champion for every division. HW (265lbs): LHW (205lbs): MW (185lbs): WW (170lbs): LW (155lbs): FW (145lbs): BW (135lbs): FlyW (125lbs): Women's Featherweight (145lbs): Women's Bantamweight (135lbs): Women's Flyweight (125lbs): Women's Strawweight (115lbs): 2014 winner: grizzlyedwin 2015 winner: Hail Sabin 2016 winner: DreamBroken 2017 winner: AxB 2018 winner: Hail Sabin 2019 winner: Setsuna 2020 winner: DreamBroken The contest deadline will be January 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. CST, which is the start of UFC on ABC 1: Holloway vs. Kattar. The first (1st) place winner will get one free month of ESPN+ and also one (1) UFC on ESPN+ PPV of their choice in 2022.

(ex. a UFC belt will only be defended twice. However, the UFC middleweight title will switch hands twice is acceptable.) I am not going to try to figure out what you mean. Predictions of events that are pretty much a foregone conclusion will be automatically disqualified. Examples would be: There will be multiple title fights on UFC 226 in July Ronda Rousey will not have a MMA fight this year and instead be at Wrestlemania. A UFC show will be canceled/postponed/delayed/moved to another venue. Rafael dos Anjos will get a UFC welterweight title shot. Basically, X will fight Y who we already know is lined up to fight for a title anyway . I will let you know if you posted something like that. Lets avoid that because it's boring. Now if you altered one of the above examples to make it interesting, that would be acceptable. - GSP will come back for the New Year's Eve show to challenge the winner of Tyron Woodley and Rafael dos Anjos contested in the summer. or - Daniel Cormier will beat Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 and then come back down to light heavyweight to beat Alexander Gustafsson. Those two would be deemed acceptable because that is not knowledge we already have. Remember, I will generally side with the more specific ones. A new rule going forward is no predictions regarding death. If you make a prediction and/or alter one before the deadline that comes true, that will count unless I catch you making changes AFTER the contest deadline of 2/9/2018. Then, your entire set of predictions will be thrown out for this year's contest. First one to three or the closest to three correct predictions wins. The tiebreak, if needed, will be the UFC champions on February 3, 2019 (the day after next year's SuperBowl weekend). No two people can have the exact same twelve champions on their list . So that's February 9, 2018 at 8 p.m. CST. This year's prize is a short sleeve t-shirt of the winner's choice from UFCstore.com. Good luck.

Predictions of events that are pretty much a foregone conclusion will be automatically disqualified. Basically, X will fight Y who we already know is lined up to fight for a title anyway . I will let you know if you posted something like that. Lets avoid that because it's boring TBH. Now if you altered one of the above examples to make it interesting, that would be acceptable. - Tony Ferguson will sit out due a contract dispute which will allow Khabib Nurmagomedov to challenge for the LW title and win. or - Tyron Woodley will fight and defeat both Stephen Thompson and Demian Maia to go 2-0 in 2017. Those two would be deemed acceptable because that is not knowledge we already have. Remember, I will generally side with the more specific ones. - Ronda Rousey will not fight in 2016 because she will be pregnant and on maternity leave/be offered another mainstream movie role/get injured in her return to training and delays the Holm rematch. or - Ronda Rousey will change her mind and end up fighting Holly Holm at UFC 200 because of _____________________________. Those two would be deemed acceptable because that is not knowledge we already have. Remember, I will generally side with the more specific ones. So that's January 29 at about 3:45 p.m. CST. Once I think of a halfway decent prize for winner, I will let you know. Good luck.
  7. Once again, congrats to grizzlyedwin for winning this year's contest. However, his winning predictions have led to reform in the rules of the contest. RULES: You get five predictions. Although this doesn't reflect my attitude on last year's predictions (trial-and-error), we're going to automatically disqualify predictions of events that are pretty much a foregone conclusion. Examples would be: - UFC will go to court - Jon Jones/Daniel Cormier will fight Alexander Gustafsson for the UFC light heavyweight title - A UFC show will be canceled/postponed/delayed/moved Basically, X will fight Y who we already know is lined up to fight for a title anyway. I will let you know if you posted something like that. Lets avoid that because it's boring TBH. Remember, I will generally side with the more specific ones. First one to three or the closest to three wins. The tiebreak, if needed, will be the UFC champions on December 20, 2015 (the day after the last UFC event of the calendar year). No two people can have the exact same champions at the end of the year. If the UFC moves an event to a later date, it will be the champions the day after that specific event. HW (265lbs): LHW (205lbs): MW (185lbs): WW (170lbs): LW (155lbs): FW (145lbs): BW (135lbs): FlyW (125lbs): Womens BW (135lbs): Womens StrawW (115lbs): I will close the thread and save the predictions to a Word file once the FS1 prelims for UFC 181: Jones vs. Cormier begin. So that's January 3 at 7:00 p.m. CST. Good luck.
  8. The Natural's post in the MMA Talk thread reminded that I need to probably post a predictions thread. Basically, here is how you win: You get five predictions. Your five predictions must be different from everyone else. In the case of someone posting duplicates, whoever posted it first will get it. Can't be super vague (ex. a UFC belt will only be defended twice. However, the UFC middleweight title will switch hands twice is acceptable). The person who gets three specific predictions right (or closest to right) will win. The more specific it is, the better your chances of winning. The tiebreak, if needed, will be the UFC champions on December 28, 2014. No two people can have the same champions at the end of the year. So I suggest you get creative. HW (265lbs): LHW (205lbs): MW (185lbs): WW (170lbs): LW (155lbs): FW (145lbs): BW (135lbs): FlyW (125lbs): Womens BW (135lbs): Womens StrawW (115lbs): I will close the thread and save the predictions to a Word file once the prelims for the first Fox card (Henderson/Thomson) begin.
