  1. I'm not disputing that, but NBC seemed to think that without Chevy Chase the show would be dead in the water. Of all the cast, his character was probably the least interesting, but despite him being abusive, racist, and insane, they decided to fire the showrunner instead of him. It almost seems like whoever is making the decisions at NBC doesn't even watch the show. Casting Chevy was actually Sony's demand. Harmon wanted Fred Willard. Well I would say Sony was smart on that one. . .
  2. yeah, go greg! I want Pettine to stay right where he is. . .
  3. The Red Sox have signed Grady SIzemore to a 750k contract. He's coming off microfrature surgery and miss the last two years(per 4 letter story). That's the kind of signing a defending champion can do, a relatively inexpensive lottery ticket.
  4. Just to be clear - everyone who had a shot of signing him had to offer him a similar contract so it's not like the Yanks were all wacky out of line with everyone else. They weren't. The suspicion is that either Ichiro or Kuroda may have convinced Tanaka to come over. That AND the Yankees offered him a full NTC and Theo's policy for the Cubs is no NTCs. As for the rooftops, that was inevitable. Ricketts pandered to those assholes all season and this is where it got him. In even funnier news, one of those rooftop buildings went up for sale as well. This has been a shit day, though. Whatever. Onward and...aw fuck it. You'll feel better when he has a era in the mid 4's and a couple of DL stints in a year or two. 20 million a year for an unproven MLB pitcher is insane. . .
  5. Yes, but with a good draft 2014 is going to be their year! (convincing enough? lol) That was the year of the illegal forward pass in Nashville too. . .
  6. And we still have no fucking infield. We're gonna be relying on K's and Fly outs. And in that bandbox? LOL
  7. Did they cover Hunter S. Thompson, "gonzo" journalism, and New Journalism in your high school journalism class? Thankfully, no. I don't have time for a lot of that stuff. They're the indie spotfests of journalism. I haven't read a ton of the "new" journalism, but I've read most of the good doctor's stuff. When he was on, he was fuckin' dynamite, but once the 1980''s came along, even his stuff wasn't as good as it once was. And Thompson was the master, everyone else,(from what I've read anyway) falls way short of that, so I think anyone doing that is playing with fire.
  8. I apologize for my ignorance, but what in the blue hell is a Red Black anyway?
  9. I think another consequence of this will be that someone is going to be going to grantland to hold Simmons on a much shorter leash now. Reading his column/explanation has it come across like the site almost is the inmates running the asylum. I still like Simmons as long as he's not giving column length blowjobs to the Celts or Pats, but he needs some one to reign him in a little bit.
  10. Only one of funniest movies ever made. . .
  11. I have only seen the season they showed on BBC America, but I agree Malcom is a god amongst men. . .
  12. Hey Kap, the niners are wearing the WHITE jersey's. . . .
  13. Cue the Benny Hill music, that's beast mode? LOL
  14. SF and Seattle work stiff. NFC WEST STRONG STYLE Seattle better have the NFl equivalent of the burning hammer warming up, because they sure are going to need it. . .
  15. The ideal situation would be for Manning to get hurt early on so we can watch everyone fall over themselves defending him. Maybe like a hangnail or a stubbed toe or something not too serious. I think the internet would crash if he somehow pulled a Thurman Thomas. . . .
  16. I forget who said it, but the point was made that if Peyton leaves the game with one SB ring--what, he's the sixth-best QB of all time instead of the third or fourth? He's still in the conversation! He'll still have his records, his championship victory, respect among anyone that actually knows something about the NFL, and more money in his bank account than some small countries. Peyton Manning: lose a couple of football games, win at life. Yes, just like Jim plunkett was a much better Qb than fran tarkenton or dan marino. . .
  17. If they win the Super Bowl, respect will come, but I have a harder time seeing it, as either the 'Hawks or Niners will be a much tougher opponent.
  18. With the way the Pats have been playing, 20-6 really isn't any different from 20-3. I know, its just ten minutes later Simms was still talking about it; they had to go for it, he's just such a hack they he needed to give them shit.
  19. Gotta love "Second guess Simms", rubbing in the Pats faces about the FG. . .
  20. Hope the Broncos enjoy this one, because the NFC champ is going to crush them. . .
