  1. It rained for like an hour right as the Super Bowl ended here and everyone freaked the fuck out. There were so many news stories about how dangerous it was out. People were actually refusing to leave the party I was at because they didn't want to drive home in the rain. It's hilarious.
  2. Yea, getting ride of love handles is all diet. It doesn't matter how many ab exercises you do if you're not eating healthy enough to burn that last little bit of fat (which I have pretty much given up on doing, because I just don't care to diet that religiously for long periods of time). My diet now is pretty much all veggies and protein. Eggs or yogurt in the morning, mid morning snack of some kind of fruit, something carby for lunch (usually something small like half a sandwich) and a bunch of raw veggies, nuts mid afternoon and a hunk of protein with roasted veggies (it's amazing how crispy, roasted broccoli can satisfy a craving for salty snack foods) for dinner. I do this all week and then eat pretty much whatever I want on weekends (sensibly). It's created a yo-yo effect where I'll lose about 5-6 pounds throughout the week, then rebound up 2-3 with weekend eating which leaves me at about 2-3 pounds lost per week, which I'm totally happy with. It's certainly not the most efficient diet, but it keeps me feeling relatively healthy and stops me from the eventual binging on a whole pizza because I'm craving it so badly.
  3. Funny that this topic came up, because we just bought a new (used) car this afternoon. We've had my '97 Toyota Corolla and her '95 Infiniti for forever. I've never been much of a car guy so my philosophy has always been drive our cars until they burst into flames on the freeway and we're pretty much forced to buy new ones. They were both totally paid off long ago, so having no car payment is pretty nice too. But within the last month, both of our check engine lights have come on and we're looking at over a grand on each car so we decided it's time. So we found a 2010 Corolla with 22,000 miles on it for really cheap (was on a 3 year lease but they got into a fender bender and had to replace the bumper so they couldn't turn it in when the lease was over.) Now we're having a bit of a battle as to which car to get fixed and keep because we each irrationally love our shitty old cars.
  4. It's perfect for the Rumble so we don't get the awkward trying to catch everything going on in the ring and new entrance camera work.
  5. Seriously. If a goodbye scene set to "Come Sail Away" sung by freaking Aimee Mann doesn't get to you, you're dead inside.
  6. Work is FINALLY buying me a decent laptop for video editing so I can stop trying to do it on the collection of under-powered pieces of crap I've been doing. Of course I am so far behind with a 50 video backlog to get through because of it, but at least they've approved me for a ton of overtime to catch up.
  7. But despite the fact that they will spend $2K on a laptop for me, they still can't give me more than a 3% "raise." This especially pisses me off after talking to our special events coordinator and finding out that they charge three times what they pay me per hour for me to work during events.
  8. I'm pretty sure I've heard Regal use that term at least a couple times over the years as a derogatory term.
  9. I haven't actually seen Blackfish, but I'm thinking The Cove winning Best Documentary in 2010 could have something to do with it. It covers some of the same ground (dolphins rather than killer whales, though) and maybe the Academy was like "been there, done that". It's not even that great of a documentary, especially when you start getting into interviews by other former Sea World trainers about how full of shit the whole thing is. I'm glad the Academy didn't throw a nomination its way just because it was the most recognisable name on the list of nominees.
  10. I've gotten the hang of A Link Between Worlds now. Completed a couple dungeons last night. Fairly challenging and a lot of fun but I agree with everyone whose said it's a little weird having every tool you need at your disposal right away (by the time the shop opened, I had more than enough Rupees to rent everything).
  11. One week in and I am an absolute believer in DDP Yoga. It's insane the increased flexibility and overall reduction of stiffness and pain in such a short amount of time. It's shocking to me how quickly his workouts (and I've only done the Diamond Dozen, Energy and now Wake up every morning) get me sweating and my heart rate up by doing so little. And I don't feel totally beaten up like the start of pretty much every other workout program I've ever started. I'm gonna have to try ramping up to some of the other workouts next week but from what I've heard from a few people is that those really start to kick your ass. And cardio theater sounds horrible. It's tough enough to find an open treadmill at my local 24 Hour Fitness, I'd go inane waiting as people walk at 3mph for hours to finish whatever terrible movie is on.
  12. I'm really, really terrible at video games. I've been walking around exploring in Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for the last two hours unable to figure out what the hell I need to do to get to certain areas I need to get to. Eventually I check a walk through, because I'm weak willed, and it turns out I bought the Smooth Gem I needed in the village 2 hours ago and just blanked that that was what I needed. I need to learn to save at better points so this doesn't happen more.
  13. It's not my recipe, but Alton Browns soft pretzel recipe is so good and so easy to make (especially if you have a mixer); http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/homemade-soft-pretzels-recipe/index.html Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are the work of the devil. Use thigh meat. It all boils down to what you prefer. I have no beef with boneless breast meat but thigh meat won't cost you as much and is equally good. The batch I made tonight was thigh meat btw... James Any time I need chicken for some kind of application like this, I'll buy a whole chicken and just boil & shred it. You get a mix of the light/dark meat that gives a creamy texture that chopped up baked chicken never will, plus you end up with tons of stock leftover to freeze and use in whatever.
  14. Just giving up on the 35 with 25 seconds left with the wind at your back & 2 time outs left? Wow that's terrible.
  15. That was probably worse than the first hit that was called a penalty. He just happened to miss by a bit this time,
  16. So the Saints should just punt on 1st down and not bother playing offense, then?
  17. Put him under a mask designed after a satellite dish and have him only be able to perform dives from the top rope when facing an unobstructed Southern view. Otherwise he just climbs to the top and freezes like a rusting piece of junk.
  18. So I assume that "for purchase" would be included if you bought the Season Pass?
  19. I just browsed the thread quickly, but I didn't see Animal Crossing: New Leaf anywhere. Just the fact that it was a brand new Animal Crossing game it enough for me, but I also found they added a ton of replayability to an already addictive game by you becoming the Mayor of the town giving you so many more responsibilities. I haven't missed more than a couple days of playing since release date.
  20. I've started concentrating on getting Krustyland done now only because the Christmas stuff is basically done, I have 30+ extra boardwalk tiles (and a HUGE boardwalk already) because of the tile glitch and every building bought aside from premium and the ones that cost $1mil+. After 55,000 cards I finally have everything on the wheel aside from the Plow King skin for Barney (which I really don't care about because I'm never going to accumulate enough donuts to purchase the Bowlarama).
  21. I drove all the way to fucking South Gate for this, got my car broken into and was convinced I was gonna get mugged on my way back there from the venue all for a 20 minute "dream match" draw. 12 years later and this still pisses me off.
  22. Man looking at the quality of these videos, I really need to rip all the Rev Pro tapes I have sitting in a box in my garage. So much good stuff on those. Dragon was always the guy whose matches I would show to my friends to trick them into coming to a couple shows (Look! He's the guy on the flyer! Look how awesome he is!) with me before they eventually got creeped out by one of many sleazy aspects of those early events. Then they'd nearly get taken out by a flying Rising Sun and I'd have to find someone new to come with me.
  23. And when he finally does get into the ring, like he did with Bryan on Monday, it actually has a huge deal feel to it. They've done an awesome job with that.
