  1. PWInsider are saying that Chael Sonnen will be part of GFW as an announcer. He's the special guest for today's press conference.
  2. Billy Corgan (of the Smashing Pumpkins) has joined TNA. He'll be doing producing, writing and talent development.
  3. So, that's 3 TV tapings and 9 house shows from June through October (with several more house shows to be announced). Quite ambitious of them to start with so many shows. Especially for a promotion that isn't on TV yet. Interesting. Looking forward to the roster finally being revealed. It better be good and have some proper stars on it because all these shows need all the help they can get if they hope to draw a decent crowd.
  4. So, it's just been announced by both parties. Taz is officially gone from TNA. Yay!
  5. So, get this. Joker's Wild 3 aired last night in the UK and since that show was taped after the EC3/Spud hair vs. hair match if you watched the Joker's Wild show the outcome of the yet-to-air-on-TV hair match was spoiled for you (since one of the guys came out with a shaved head). On the brighter side though, I got a big kick out of those two moments from Joker's Wild (don't click the links if you don't want to know the EC3/Spud hair vs. hair outcome): http://i.imgur.com/UfSyROT.gif http://i.imgur.com/g8IK6uo.gif
  6. TNA Gutcheck PPV results (featuring a cool little cameo after match 7):
  7. Since TNA are already promoting Drew's debut on their website I think it's fair to assume it's more than just a one shot deal. Anyway, I haven't seen any of his recent work but I've been hearing nothing but good things about Drew on the indies so I'm looking forward to seeing him on TV again. Velvet out, Mickie in. Nice trade off!
  8. Jeff Hardy, Gail Kim, Kenny King, Manik and Awesome Kong have signed new TNA deals.
  9. Well, how about that. Apparently a surprising name is backstage at TNA tonight. No word if said person is working tonight's show, but I'd imagine so.
  10. Dixie, Mr. Anderson and Chris Melendez are the ones going to the Television Critics Association conference today.
  11. The thing that annoyed me the most about Striker is that he kept dropping all these random references to stuff and it just came off as him trying to show off as opposed to him enhancing the action. The marking out comment was cringeworthy, indeed.
  12. Well, that was an excellent show. Definitely better than last year's Dome show. This was the 12th year I've been watching the January 4th show, but the first time I've watched it live. It was definitely worth it. Nakamura/Ibushi, Tanahashi/Okada and Ishii/Makabe were the matches that I liked the most (in that order). Those three were just great. The last few minutes of Nakamura/Ibushi in particular were on another level. The post-match with Okada was quite emotional. And Ishii and Makabe destroying each other was all sorts of fun. I enjoyed most of the other matches too, just not as much as those three. It was disappointing that they didn't go all out for the entrances like they did the previous two years. Nakamura's was great though. I thought the English commentary was okay. Could've been better, but also it could've been worse. JR marking out big time for Okada's dropkick was great. The 42,000 number is from the days when they were still announcing inflated attendance numbers (the real number for the 2012 show, at least according to Meltzer anyway, was 23,000). That policy has since been dropped and they've started announcing the real numbers. 36,000 is a strong crowd. But as mco543 stated, guys like JR and Jarrett were suggesting a significantly bigger number and so I can see why someone would be disappointed with 36,000 if they bought into the pre-show hype.
  13. Roode is featured well in the best 20 TNA moments in history countdown. Both of Roode's title wins and his title loss are in there: 20) Samoa Joe defeated Kurt Angle to win the TNA World Title at Lockdown 2008. 19) Austin Aries defeated Bobby Roode to win the TNA World Title at Destination X 2012. 18) Motor City Machine Guns defeated Beer Money to win the Tag Titles at Victory Road 2010. 17) Jay Lethal and Ric Flair had a hilarious "woo off" promo on Impact in June 2010. 16) Amazing Red won an Ultimate X match to retain the X Division Title at Bound For Glory 2009. 15) Bully Ray [Aces & Eights] defeated Jeff Hardy to win the TNA World Title at Lockdown 2013. 14) Gail Kim won a Gauntlet Battle Royal to win the Knockouts Title at Bound For Glory 2007. 13) Jeff and Karen Jarrett renewed their wedding vows on Impact in March 2011. 12) Bobby Roode defeated Lashley to win the TNA World Title on Impact in October 2014. 11) Sting defeated Hulk Hogan in a street fight for control of TNA at Bound For Glory 2011. 10) Sting and Kurt Angle had the first ever TNA Empty Arena match on Impact in February 2009. 9) The Wolves defeated The Hardys & Team 3D in Full Metal Mayhem on Impact in October 2014. 8) Taryn Terrell defeated Gail Kim in a Last Knockout Standing match at Slammiversary 2013. 7) Hulk Hogan signed with TNA and made his long-awaited Impact debut in January 2010. 6) Magnus defeated AJ Styles for the undisputed TNA World Title on Impact in January 2014. 5) Aces & Eights crashed the wedding of Bully Ray & Brooke Hogan on Impact in January 2013. 4) Bobby Roode defeated James Storm to win the TNA World Title on Impact in November 2011. 3) AJ Styles defeated Christopher Daniels & Samoa Joe to win the X Division Title at Unbreakable 2005. 2) Jeff Hardy joined forces with Immortal and won the TNA World Title at Bound For Glory 2010. 1) Bully Ray powerbombed Dixie Carter through a table on Impact in August 2014. #ItHappened Overall it's quite a crappy selection though. And it's clearly meant to put the spotlight on the last few years.
  14. It appears Rob Terry is gone from TNA as he has been moved to the alumni section on TNA website along with Team 3D and Brittany. Coincidentally, The Freak is no longer listed as a member of the Menagerie. EC3 and Abyss have signed new TNA deals.
  15. So, Destination America have added yet another TNA show to their line-up: Between Impact, the Impact replay, Unlocked and now this there's going to be at least 7 hours of TNA every week on the new channel. That's a whole lot of TNA...
  16. By the way, Mastiff vs. Joe, Aries vs. Dar and Grado vs. EC3 can be seen here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2ct872_tna-british-boot-camp-2-redemption_sport Also, the poster for the Glasgow show:
  17. Live show on January 7th (Wednesday) and then the following week Impact's moving to Friday nights: http://www.impactwrestling.com/news/item/6252-DESTINATION-AMERICA-PINS-DOWN-DEBUT-DATE-FOR-IMPACT-WRESTLING And there's going to be a 12-hour TNA marathon leading straight into the January 7th debut. Impact's also getting two weekly replays, one being on Saturday morning with some exclusive content thrown in the mix.
  18. And the winner is... So, my least favorite person of the final six ends up winning the contract. Kind of a sour end to an otherwise very enjoyable show for me. All the final matches were indeed fun little TV matches, as were some of the other matches during the course the show. Anyway, congrats to Andrews. He's a good high-flyer and has some charisma to him but IMO there were several other people on this show who I would've picked over him.
  19. Turns out the other three finale matches will be airing after all. I missed it, but apparently Mastiff/Joe aired on Xplosion tonight. I guess that means Grado/EC3 and Dar/Aries will be airing as well.
  20. By the way, it appears last night's eliminations were filmed after all six possible matches for the finale were filmed (only three of those would be airing, obviously). In other words, it wasn't the 8-person tag that determined who goes through (even though it was portrayed that way on the show), but rather TNA decided who the final three were going to be after seeing all six in singles matches against TNA wrestlers. It's a shame we'll probably never get to see the Joe/Mastiff and Aries/Dar matches that they taped. Those were the two finale matches I was looking forward to the most.
  21. Rampage Brown, Mark Andrews and Kay Lee Ray are the final three. One of them is winning the contract next Sunday. Andrews and KLR picked over Mastiff? Damn! That's just wrong. I'm hoping Rampage wins, but I have a feeling he won't. Hope I'm wrong. Also, it's been announced that all six finalists will work the TNA UK tour. Grado vs. Al Snow in Glasgow.
