  1. I enjoyed that period of time where we were being led toward Low Ki vs. Kevin Nash for the X title. My GOD, what might've been!
  2. Is Abyss in anyone's deadpool? I can't imagine he's got much longer ....
  3. I will admit to irrational love of Steiners vs. Dudleyz in TNA.
  4. "Kind of?!" I'd have put a restraining order on her.
  5. My daughter was 3yo and struggling to sleep one night so we were watching TNA around the time of one of Sting's visits. My daughter, who was nodding off, just blurts out, "You're a bad clown, go away." Not like she was scared, like she was offended by said clown's tactics.
  6. Steiner had his moments as BPP; the Goldberg match at Fall Brawl 2000 was shockingly good. He had great chemistry with Goldberg. I remember a match they had on Nitro that was pretty awesome. It ended with a Nash run-in but it was a fantastic power match before the run-in. Those matches with Goldberg were the kind of shockingly great that I would liken to when Kevin Smith talk about Jason Mewes in Dogma. All these great, a-list actors and comedians on payroll and Mewes turns in such an unbelievably fantastic performance that one day Matt Damon looks over at Smith and says "who'd have ever thought THAT motherfucker would walk away with this picture." Same general idea. Who'd have ever thought those two motherfuckers would have the chemistry they had... But ... well, that's a very telling analogy.
  7. Sabin (TNA) Sheiky (WWF) Homicide (ROH) One name I'm wanting to omit, due to the week that was (WWF) Rick Martel (AWA) Justin Credible (ECW) Tommy Rich (NWA) Ron Garvin (NWA) Jarrett (TNA) Shamrock (TNA) Miz (WWE)
  8. No Hobo Army? No Bunkhouse Buck? No no nonono, that post doesn't make any sense at all!
  9. Play the one where he uses an anklelock to get out of a guillotine choke.
  10. Sorry about that guys I didn't intend to overstep any boundaries on what was acceptable to discuss. Certainly didn't mean to ruin the thread for everyone. Yeah, what jae said. I think, by history, it's easy to have a hair trigger as an admin, ESPECIALLY in sensitive times such as these. That's why I was waaay emphatic about not meaning that suicidal folks were "selfish" etc. (even though I said it) because that wasn't quite the point I was making. My "we can't have nice things" is a personal catch-all response for whenever anything is taken away; I blame my mom.
  11. RIP "RIP Warrior" thread (2014-2014) We can't ever have anything nice ...
  12. I dug those Hulk Vs. short films that came out some time ago.
  13. Face/Off Con Air Dark Knight Blues Brothers Hudson Hawk
  14. I'm not accustomed to seeing an Oscar winning film referred to as "underrated." Not trolling, seriously; are there other examples of such a thing?
  15. Sometimes - to be a bit selfish for a moment - it's okay when things happen that remind me that I don't occupy this "silly wrasslin forum" thing with a hundred soulless spambots, that deep down behind our sigs and avatars we are all relatively decent people scattered all over the mudball.
  16. Another thing that's been in my head - and not to trivialize the man's death life or legacy in any way, hopefully it won't come off that way - has been the overall context of his death in the wrestling landscape of which he was largely a part. We have a moment in time in this thing we enjoy where the past year has almost been largely a goodbye to expected norms, tropes, eras ... The start of the network. The movement of the least likely major player into the center stage (Bryan). Punk - he who would be king - who allegedly is one of wrestling's most negative influences and drains (while unfortunately also being good at what he did) pulls up stakes and disappears. Pulling the trigger on the Streak. JBL's denouement of the Attitude Era. You have the "Mount Rushmore" moment prior to WM 30, itself an event signifying three decades past the business' first major boom. One year after bridges were mended with Sammartino. The next year, Warrior comes along to repair his relationship with the company and the fans who helped him build him to where he was, surrounded by the people who were able to voice how they appreciated aspects of who he is, and on the day after a Raw which gave a lot of people (read: us) optimism for the future of this unifying entertainment, Warrior's number gets pulled, and another representative of the sport dies. But, unlike numerous tragedies before - Guerrero, Benoit, Savage, and numerous other ODs and suicides - this passing isn't quite the same. Like I said, not trying to say dumb shit like, "First the Streak, now this," but just to reflect on the overall context of where we've gotten just in the past 6-12 mos.
  17. There is no good death, or bad death. Death is what it is, an event that simply exists for the interpretation of others. And if I were ever able to choose the context in which to go, Warrior's was relatively kind, compared to how it might have been. For his children, I'm certain they would have preferred him to be as immortal and as invincible as his alter ego. I cannot begin to imagine their take. So I choose to not. Edited to add: I'm just glad my initial impression was incorrect.
  18. Talking to a friend of mine, and I think I'm getting a more positive vibe from this. I mean, what a great last couple of days this dude had, y'know? Sets the record straight on his professional legacy, is recognized by his peers as one of the greats, surrounded by friends and family, gives his own eulogy in a sense to his fans, then passes the veil to Destrucity, going quick without the debilitating, lingering wasting away misery that death can sometimes be. It's almost enough to make a person envious.
  19. You know, I'd absolutely enjoy a thread of transcribed Warrior promos. Fuck that; an e-book. That's why this era of information tech was invented. Someone should work on that.
  20. I have read an assload of these as well. Dumbasses; suits are fucking hot. Of course dude's gonna sweat.
  21. I'm glad to hear that. I mean ... you know what I mean, I hope.
