AUGUST WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD
DreamBroken replied to RIPPA's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
Kurt says he's going to rehab now: "I am blessed to have the support of my family, my friends and my company. In light of recent events I will immediately be entering a rehabilitation center. I realize that this is a pivotal time in my life and I ask for your understanding as well as your prayers and continued support. I am confident that in taking these steps I can begin to address necessary changes in my life." -
Had heard it once before but didn't know who sang it, loving that Bonnie McKee song!

I still want to see Mason Ryan become a top guy someday. Always liked Leo Kruger, entertaining character. Went back and watched some of Summer Rae's matches, she strikes me as very good and surprisingly on level with the other more experienced girls. NXT continues to have a much stronger divas division than the main roster.

Great opening with Aries and liked the promo exchange with Roode. Loved Roode going back to his old ways that got him the title in the first place, thought that worked really well. Park/Bradley was fun. Sabin/Manik felt really not special at all despite the champion vs champion hype, did like the delayed superplex though. Gail/ODB was pretty awesome, Gail shined great as usual and it's good to see ODB in a featured match again.. should be another good feud for Gail. Really enjoyed Aries/Styles, it was a match I've wanted to see for the past year+ so it had that 'dream match' vibe going that they pushed a little bit. Some great spots throughout, great strikes towards the end. Finish wasn't the best but I hope maybe there will be a rematch if they make it to the final 4 in the series. Definitely the match I would've liked to have seen headline BFG. The big reveal definitely fell pretty flat. I liked Tito's bellator debut last night but this seemed pretty awkward, especially ending the show on that with him just standing there while everyone is stunned. Seems like a very strange way for him to debut with those videos since his past times in TNA was just a guest referee 7-8 years ago. -

Always enjoy the Bellator shows since coming to Spike..crazy fast KO in the main. Loved the wrestling segment style debut for Tito.. "My opponent will be... this man!" -

I always enjoyed Rodney Mack, watched him on the indys where he was a top guy in Texas promotions and thought he'd be a star when he got signed. Shame he didn't get much of a chance. Still enjoy seeing him in the ring wherever he pops up. Felt the same about Lance Hoyt, who was a top star in the same area for years....thought it was crazy that he got released so quickly.

Agreed, I would've preferred Aries winning it again. Aries/Styles as a 'first time ever in TNA' match could've been a stellar BFG main event too

TNA acknowledged Adam Pearce tweeting about August1 and Bob Holly tweeting that it's not him. It's not Dave Batista! -
Personally thought Lethal came off grating and terrible after the amusing Flair impersonation, couldn't stand him in those segments they aired with his family. Regular guy Jay Lethal was never going to be anything special I don't think. Regardless, always thought it was a hilarious booking decision when they had him go over Flair on PPV via figure four and then the following impact, he gets squashed by Hardy in under 5 minutes. Actually that whole period, he was on some crazy win streak pinning practically all of Fortune... Styles on PPV then Kazarian, Wolfe, Morgan, culminating with the Flair match. Then has a string of losses, pushed back down the card, and was suddenly back to just X Division champ again. About Taeler Hendrix, she's clarified that the being told she was "too heavy" comment didn't come directly from Dixie but just that it was said to her after her last Impact match with Mickie by someone there. Ridiculous either way.. always thought she was one of the more attractive girls around. Shame she never got to do more than a few matches there. Also Jesse Sorensen had his first match in wrestling since the injury in a tag for NWA Florida Underground this past weekend. Good to see he was able to make any sort of comeback. Loved his last TNA promo in the neckbrace at Destination X last year, too bad he never got to return for TNA after that.

Enjoyed the show a lot.. looking forward to the next episodes. The what's to come teaser at the end looked like lots of entertainment. This episode was pretty interesting and had tons going on.. flew by pretty fast. The way they showed their match being cut was exactly how it came off at Mania, expecting to see that match and then all of a sudden Cena just comes out with no special WM entrance. Hadn't realized Justin Gabriel was 32 til they mentioned him being with 19 year old Jojo.

Well big for a knockout like reports said Tara supposedly had in leading to her "cost cutting" release, and how Christy Hemme's always been reported as having a bigger than necessary contract. Thought I remembered reading something similar when Velvet left for a couple of months last year during their contract restructuring disputes before she signed a new one and came back. -

Pretty good Mickie/Gail and Joe/Daniels matches. I wish they'd let Velvet go during this cost cutting since she's probably got a big contract and is useless. Mickie/Gail/Taryn with ODB thrown in the mix should be good. Ultimate X was just kinda there but the teased superplex off the cables was a cool visual. Hardy/Styles was good stuff... weird to see Hardy tap out rather quickly to the calf killer as it's the first time he's ever tapped in TNA and is someone who's lasted several minutes in the ankle lock while Kurt always escaped the calf killer in his matches with AJ. Still doesn't feel like Sabin's really coming off as superstar world champion. Sabin/Manik seems like a very odd 'champion vs champion' caliber match. -
Excellent video! Extremely well done
-
ha, laughed out loud at this.. gonna think it any time I hear her now too.

I will forever wish that Riley's face push continued. His initial turn on Miz was amazingly well done, he was over quick, delivered in the ring and I always thought he came off like a star alongside Cena & Orton in a couple multi-man tags. Shame it seems like any hope of another major push for him is gone.
-
Liked Alberto/Sheamus a lot especially the smart finish. Bryan/Cesaro was incredible. Awesome seeing them get so much time in a near main event spot. So many amazing spots and sequences. Cesaro's uppercut rush and then flipping Bryan with the short arm lariat ruled. Unbelievably good finish too. Definitely high up there on my fav matches of the year list. Also that divas Miz TV segment was really bizarre with Eva Marie's apparent random heel turn.

I've caught a little bit of him there... is he still face or did he go back heel?

The Old School Questions thread
DreamBroken replied to Mr Harms's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
For whatever it's worth, in his Timeline WWF 1989 shoot (and I think at least one other interview in the mid 00s) Beefcake claimed Warrior was given the title after throwing a tantrum backstage.. and that he was supposed to then win it from Warrior but the office kept making excuses for why it never happened. -
Agreed 100%, was really liking Mason Ryan's push towards the US title before he got pushed aside and dropped off TV completely.. and Ryder's reign/'push' was complete nothing anyways.

Yeah he was hurt last summer when they wrote him out of TNA and he left there shortly after. Haven't heard of any other movies he's done besides that one and the only match I know he's worked since was against Morrison at a PWS show in April
