  1. I would go and set all of her shoes and handbags on fire. Blood for blood. Ugh. Just her screenname shows she's needy and whiny. Literally a drama queen. And also probably trying to live like a queen while sponging off of her boyfriend/parents, which is why she has no problem destroying a $60 game. I would report the bitch for theft and destruction of property. Anyway, didn't have much time to play last night, and I will be housesitting for my parents for the next few days, so no gaming there. Hopefully the withdrawals won't hit too hard I did get far enough to unlock Chop. I had fun playing fetch with him, which in this case, meant throwing the ball on to the porch of a crack house and getting in a fight with the residents when I tried to get the ball back. I don't have clothing stores unlocked yet. I've come across a couple of them (I think) but I can't go into the buildings. I want to get a Hawaiian shirt to go along with the Max Payne 3 style shaved head/beard combo I have going for Michael.
  2. Pretty much what JT said. I don't get the direct comparisons between GTA and SR. Both are open world games but that's it. The first SR was a blatant GTA clone but it has since found its' own identity. If the games are like movies, SR is a goofy 80s/Hong Kong action flick, while GTA is more of the serious Scorsese/Michael Mann crime drama/action. Both are good in their own ways. You also have to keep in mind that GTAV had 5 years of development and a $250 millon+ budget. SRIV was churned out in less than a year by a studio that had its' publisher go bankrupt halfway through development. Yeah, it doesn't have the polish of GTAV, but no other open world game has, and that is why GTA is considered the gold standard of the genre. And I would still put SR2 ahead of GTAIV Anyway, I got to put in my first serious play session last night. I forgot I had the free upgraded weapons at Ammunation through the special edition code. Those really helped a lot with the cops, though both Franklin and Michael are both still pretty weak without body armor at this point. What I am really liking about the game so far - and this is a HUGE improvement over IV for me - is that the first act doesn't seem so plodding. Of course it is still a bunch of tutorial missions, but at least it doesn't feel like it. This might sound like a stupid question - is the iFruit app a real thing? I looked on the link given in the game and it's just wallpapers. I'm trying not to spoil too much of the game so I don't wanna click through random links on Google.
  3. Street Fighter has Sonny Chiba ripping off a would-be rapist's nutsack. And it shows said sack. That's all you need to know whether you would enjoy the movie or not. The later movies aren't as over the top or gory, but they are still fun 70s martial arts cheese/sleaze. You can get all of the movies dirt cheap, either stand-alone or in those 50 movies on 4 DVDs packs in Wal Mart bargain bins.
  4. I tried watching some of the TV at Franklin's house, but I did so after smoking weed. That shit must be shermed up because the screen effects got to be so much that I couldn't even see the TV screen. Then I drank too much beer and puked on the kitchen floor. It's starting to sound like my college days
  5. I like the shooting from what I've played so far. It's obviously cribbed from Max Payne 3, but that is to be expected. The cover and targeting is a lot better than in IV. I haven't tried to do drive-bys yet though. Overall I think the driving is better also - except for the camera lock-on when you are chasing someone, which is too confusing for me - it's just that race that sucks, probably because the car they point you to grab has crap handling and fishtails and/or spins out if a breeze goes by. I'm going to try and jack one of the good sports cars from the car lot and then retry the race tonight. As much as I liked Saints Row IV, the world was pretty dull and didn't really compel me to explore. This, on the other hand, is just fascinating. There are so many little details that it is fun to tool around and see what you can find.
  6. I'm assuming it's like San Andreas and driving isn't that great until you raise your stats up. I got stuck on the same race Gonzalez mentioned above and I usually never have problems with races in GTA games. I tried to do the first stunt plane challenge. That didn't work out well.
  7. I went to Gamestop after work to pick up my preorder thinking there wouldn't beva line... wrong. Even at 6 pm there was still about 30 people queued up, never seen anything like that. Installing now but I gotta do adult things before I can sneak in an hour or so before bed. The steelbook packaging on the special edition is cool but it sucks how the bonus map doesn't fit in it.
  8. Gotta love racist wannabe rapping 12-year-olds that can't read or follow simple instructions. It's also people installing the whole game so that it (supposedly) runs better - less pop up, drive noise, etc. That is what I gleaned from reading part of a thread at NeoGAF, but those are nerds who can supposedly tell when the FPS in a game drops to 25 versus 30. There is also the inevitable blowback (reviews were bought, game performs terribly, etc.) and of course the "I'm too cool to play GTA" crew.
  9. A bit of a learning curve if Vice City is the last GTA you played, but the game eases you into it. And I'll be damned if this isn't one of the best games I have ever played. Thank you. Anybody having issues with their game? The installation seems to be the main problem: https://twitter.com/RockstarSupport From what I read most of that is from people trying to install the wrong disc on the 360 version.
  10. not to mention the DLC codes, patches, online pass, etc. Hopefully I'll be able to get my pre order today after work, bu5 even then I probably won't be able to actually play the damn thing until tomorrow.
  11. My parents bought me Leisure Suit Larry for my birthday, when I was that age. True story. I'm pretty sure they didn't know what the game was about, though. I worked in the electronics department at Target when GTA3 came out. I would try and tell parents that they game probably wasn't really for little kids. Most of them would be indignant at the notion that they couldn't decide for themselves what was appropriate for their kid or not. Of course, many of them would come back demanding to return the game and threaten to sue Target and myself for selling to innocent children in the first place. A lot of people still think video games are Mario and Wii bowling. They really have no idea that a M rating really does equal (or in some cases surpass) an R rated movie. So when they actually sit down and watch what goes on in a game like GTA, they are pretty shocked.
  12. Kevin was an all-state wrestler in high school before he got hurt, which led to Mick Foley (yes, Mankind) taking his place on the team. Joe Rogan has said on his podcast that Kevin has always been pretty athletic and could lift a lot of weight, play good basketball, run, etc. but he had a shitty diet (like most comics do) that led him to getting a big gut.
  13. San Andreas would kill that notion. I just replayed most of it (up to the return to Los Santos final act) until my old PS3 died and even skipping most of the side activities, I was at 30+ hours.
  14. It's wasn;t really Donnie's choice to wait. Donnie was poised to be a big star in the 80s - he was under the tutelage of Yuen Woo Ping, who had helped a lot to get Jackie Chan established as a star. He had a big breakout role in Once Upon a Time in China 2 and looked ot be joining the A level. But he had long been his worst enemy - he didn't take direction well and pissed off people on the set. Hong Kong film-making is a small family, so if you piss off people like Yuen Woo Ping and Tsui Hark, it's gonna be hard to find work - which is why Donnie ended up doing small roles in western productions. I think doing these and directing his first couple of movies humbled him enough that he became easier to work with. He has also been able to adapt more than some other MA stars - like throwing in MMA style moves in Flashpoint and SPL.
  15. I played Pinbot a couple of years ago at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Vegas. It really isn't that great. It's way too empty in the middle so your balls drain a lot. I think it is remembered fondly more for the art and sound effects rather than the actual gameplay. Tabe - there is a demo of Diablo III up on PSN. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a pretty meaty demo. You can pick from all the classes, there is on and offline co-op and you can play to the (I think) first boss. You can also carry over your saves/charcaters to the full version.
  16. There's also yet another pinball game called Pinballistix - you get the first table free. A bit different than other pinball games because it offers a battle mode with an extra wide playfield so that two people (or one vs computer) can compete with each other.
  17. There is a free to play version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate called Core Fighters. I haven't tried it yet (waiting to download/install the file) but it is supposedly most of DoA5 minus the story mode and some of the characters.
  18. I want to see the movie, but I'm not going to support the US version, which was chopped by 20+ minutes. Wong Kar-Wai is an arthouse director best known for slow moving dramas. Even though I really like most of his films, I can see how they can be a chore to sit through at times. There's no shame in liking Ip Man. The story is total whitewashed revisionist history propaganda courtesy of Mainland Chinese censorship, but there's no denying Donnie Yen is a phenomenal talent. I'm glad he got his shit together and ego in check, otherwise he'd still be doing bit parts in western movies instead of being the new king of Hong Kong/Chinese martial arts.
  19. But really though the middle of SR3 is kind of a slog. It's a lot of "missions" that are gussied up versions of the side activities. It does pick up at the end though. I needed something new on my phone, so I got Gangstar Vegas on sale for $3. It's a stupid name, but it's not a bad open world game so far.
  20. For what I just spent on engagement/wedding rings and will spend on the wedding, I fully expect to be still playing GTAV when GTAVIIII makes its debut on the Playstation 6
  21. The PS1 version of Diablo worked surprisingly well with the controller. I put a lot of hours into it, probably more than the PC version. The only thing I didn't really like about it was that the load times were awful even by PS1 standards, so it was a pain in the ass when you wanted to warp to/from town. I finished Saint's Row IV and so to bide time before GTA V comes out, I am playing Vice City Stories. The graphics are rough, but I really like the story and I think the radio stations might even be better than VC. I also donwloaded After Burner Climax on my phone. It's not a bad version, especially for 3 bucks. The load times kind of suck though. It takes you out of a manic shooter mode if you have to wait for the next level to load.
  22. I've heard there's some spoilers in that article. At this point I am on a media blackout for this game. Normally, I don't care, but GTA is the closest thing to a big gaming event for me now. If I wasn't an adult with responsiblities, I would be taking the 17th off so I could get the game at midnight and play it all day.
  23. There is an option on the map screen to just see the collectable stuff, but I've come across a couple of clusters where I'm right on the icon and have tried all sorts of heights but still can't find them. I played through Episodes from LIberty City a little while back and it still holds up for me. Mostly because there are no bullshit tutorial missions and the characters are interesting. And it is still fun going through Liberty City since it feels like one of the most "alive" open worlds. The DLC shows how rich the city is, because just starting the characters off in a different section of the city almost makes it feel like a totally new game. As much as I liked SR 3 and 4, I still think 2 is the best because, even though the graphics are dated now, Stillwater is just much more interesting. There are actually different neighborhoods with their own flavor and you see interesting ambient stuff like the pirate vs ninja fights. Steelport is just bland by comparision.
  24. I beat the game over the weekend. It took about 25 hours which is about normal for open world games that aren't GTA, at least for me. The last set of missions were fun, though I did find the controls for the "skydiving" portion to be really unwieldy. I didn't die too many times during the game except for that part. It took me about 10 tries to figure out what I was supposed to do, which was pretty annoying. I'm on the fence wether to trade this in. I've been going around and cleaning up collectables, getting gold in activities, etc but I don't think that will hold my interest for too long. The superpowers are fun and the fully powered up weapons are ridiculous, but Steelport is just kind of small and bland.
  25. I was going to highlight this. In terms of stand-up comedy, this was not a meltdown. It is not unheard of for a comedian to walk off the stage when the crowd is shitty. We have a case here where there was five hours between when the doors opened and the headliner was brought on stage, which is way too long. By the time Dave (who was brought on stage while most people were moving around after intermission) comes on the audience is going to be restless and/or loaded. Almost every comedy show I've been to has either stopped liquor sales or limited them before and during the headliner but it sounds like here you may have had a lot of overserved people. So who knows what they were yelling at him. Dave is known now for a rambling improv style where he does do shit like chain smoke and rant about whatever for literally hours, not tight 25 minute sets. So he's not a good fit to headline a show like this. Also the mix of acts like Flight of the Conchords brings a weird mix into the audience. Dave did act unprofessionally, sure - he should have been able to turn the crowd around. But a lot of the fault should go to the promoters for shitty booking, and to the venue for overserving patrons and not ejecting rowdy ones.
