    True Detective spoilers

Well, I like how they wrapped it up. I had a real groaner moment when they has the wispy singing of "Twist and Shout" in the soundtrack, and no idea why they had the music come on AGAIN at Tsalal. Like last episode this was one long info-dump. Guess it only matters if you liked the info.

Could this have made a neater movie, or miniseries? Did it need six whole hours to tell the story? I dunno.

Someone is gonna have to clue me in about what the supercure was in the permafrost. Cure for cancer? All I've heard is people potentially digging up superflus from the ice, in real life.

    Spoiler

Pretty sure Clark turned the music up to mess with Navarro and Danvers when they made it up to the facility.

My only gripe was that it didn't seem like they were anywhere near the facility when they fell into the lower section of the ice cave, then suddenly they find the ladder to the lab.

I thought they were going to go with the angle that instead of a cure the scientists found something that could be weaponized which caused Annie to destroy the research.

I do give the second and third leeway for personal reasons: 2 was technically an Italian Exorcist ripoff, which rules, and had a basement full of zombies and Burt Young. 3 has probably the all-time best non-Final Destination/Omen accidental death in a film ever with the burned-to-death-in-a-car moment which is just tremendously jarring/shocking for a film so crapulous. And the goofy monster was some prime '80s FX action (Hellraiser III in fact is probably a nadir for that: incredible effects of the compleat KNB/Bottin/Winston/Johnson/Screaming Mad George/John Carl Buechler vintage in service to a film that, scriptwise, is utter trash). That original sure can take a hike though.

Also, I have no idea how bad (let's not even contemplate the possibility of quality) the other ones or the remake are, so I'm just talking those three movies I guess.

The remake was one of the better 2000s horror remakes.

It had plenty of CGI jumpscares.

Easily right there with TCM, IMO.

EDIT: Coulda been worse, I guess. When I fell asleep they were showing the Amityville Horror movies. Imagine how frustrated you'd be if you were a follower of those; they never made ANY good ones...

Amityville 1 has a house that is booked to steamroll over the Lutz family (plus the priest played by Rod Steiger).

Amityville 2 has Burt Young hamming it up and taking out his rage that he had banked from the Rocky films, and a questionable angle with the lead brother and sister.

Amityville 3 is the best of the early 80s 3D craze. What other film has a stuffed marlin flying directly in to the camera?

The rest are at times unimaginative messes.

I mean there is a SpongeBob version on Nickelodeon right now

Holy shit that was such a ballsy 4th down that Dan Campbell just got an erection.

Well there's a mental image I did not foresee.

    And will (hopefully) soon forget.

Mongo McMichael’s getting indicted in the Hall of Fame with Devin Hester and Julius Peppers

I had no idea there was an investigation.

Hopefully, Stephen P. New can help them with the case.

Are Bret and WWE on the outs again?  I can't see why he's not on there.  Also, why is Andre doing the Duggan taunt?

Seems to me that Andre is preparing the Samoan Spike for Lesnar in the first illustration.

In the second, he's going to let Cena suck his thumb.

I'm pretty sure it was current day but I could be wrong.  I Googled it and apparently, in that part of Alaska, it still does get sort of light, like dusk, a few hours a day during the dark season.

I really like the show.  The only bad thing about it is Billie Eilish's edgelord marblemouth sexy baby voice music.  But that's why the good lord above invented "skip intro."

I think the Eilish song is perfect for the show, but I admit I'm biased towards her.
