  1. All of you are thinking too hard as to who else they could use if not Moolah. It should be named after Stephanie McMahon. It is totally something she would kayfabe do and either a heel would get easy heat thanking trophy Steph all the time, or a face would get great heat smashing the darn thing.
  2. I'm not much of a Nia fan either, but I think it is the time to pull the trigger on her as it feels like a legit "now or never" deal. She's this big beast yet hasn't won the belt and seems to always lose the big match, at some point you either take your shot with her or risk her being damaged in a Bray kinda way. Timing it for Mania is... unfortunate, and I don't think it is ultimately gonna work, but it's probably the right move to make.
  3. I finished up A Voyage to Arcturus earlier today and yeah, it's definitely good stuff. It really leans heavier and heavier towards its philosophical notions as it goes on but they are so fascinatingly constructed that it feels like doing anything else would have been an error. I'd say more than of a particular genre (I mean, it is clearly sci-fi/fantasy) it is a novel of ideas, the kind that aren't thrown your way all that often. I'll definitely chuck Devil's Tor onto my to-read list, which probably means I'll get to it around 2025 or so >_>
  4. You know... if we go from 6 free games a month to 2 they'd better adjust the price or something >_>
  5. That kind of Challengers show likely wouldn't draw much on its own, but if it allows the ppvs and "normal" FS1 cards to be a bit more packed in terms of legit fighters and known names it would likely be a fair trade. It also allows another level to better separate the wheat from the chaff, giving them a better idea who to invest in and who is less likely to pan out. The thing you'd lose from TUF is hyping up the eventual coaches battle, but I think that has lost much of its effectiveness by now regardless.
  6. This is a very salient point. Back when UFC started its hot streak with TUF those cards were relatively stacked due to their being so much less of them. It gave them a better opportunity to sell a number of fighters at the same time as long as they had at least one marketable fight already in play. I'm pretty sure that Liddell/Couture II ppv that piggybacked off of TUF 1 was many peoples introduction to GSP, there was a second title fight on the card that ended up being a rather memorable one for Hughes, etc. Of course now I don't think you could pay me enough to sit through an entire season of TUF...
  7. I've been picking away at A Voyage to Arcturus by David Lindsay after some people elsewhere were talking it up as a personal favorite of theirs. It is a very unusual book, technically it would be sci-fi yet at the halfway point I'd say it is primarily concerned with various philosophical examinations and viewpoints. As it is from 1920 the science bits lean towards the fantastic, really the whole thing is very creative and fantastical when it comes to the planet and various creatures that inhabit it. Also if there is body horror then this would be its more curious cousin.
  8. I would say less try harder and just try something, anything different. The approach they've taken for the last few years really hasn't produced anything and like... they've got over 200 fighters under contract I believe. Even by dumb luck a few of those should connect but it seems like since TUF has gone cold they are kinda frozen and unsure what to actually do other that heavily focus on pretty people and hey, that produced interest and moderate results! It being hard doesn't mean you should just shrug your shoulders and hope something falls into your lap, if success is unlikely you put as many eggs in as many different baskets as possible.
  9. UFC can't just snap their fingers and make someone a star, but I think it is safe to say that they could be trying a lot more than they are and have been for years now to do so. For a company with shows on broadcast tv, worth a few billion, run now by a talent agency and with several shows in recent years that drew tons of attention due to Conor and Rousey you really could not have gotten less in terms of star making out of the whole thing if you tried. Part of it is due to the fact that it ain't scripted and people lose but hell, that ain't an excuse to not even try and there is little evidence that they are. I'm pretty sure Dana has trashed more champs in recent years than he's propped up...
  10. Oh no @ Jarek 1:20 getting a WWE tryout. He seems to be a solid magician but as a wrestler he's... a solid magician.
  11. I feel kinda bad for Gulak, he sure seems to be stuck working a lot harder for a much smaller reaction.
  12. So Rockhold is saying that he may be moving up a weight class in the immediate future, and Romero has to lose three and a half pounds within a couple hours or else I assume even if he wins the fight he can't win the interim interim title (I know it's not really the interim x2 title). Perhaps middleweight just is destined to not have a champion.
  13. Anders was just so poor at various things throughout the fight. While Machida generally has above average footwork and movement Anders appeared to barely realize that there are ways to cut off the cage, and even when Machida would sometimes just stop the horizontal movement and stand still in front of him near the cage Anders would just sorta stand there and look at him. His activity level in general was just poor, Machida wasn't doing a ton himself but he's basically 40, I can at least understand that. The fact that he still managed to win a couple rounds points more to how limited Machida appears to be at this point (I hope he calls it a career, he doesn't appear to have much left).
  14. As far as I am aware most of the odd logic quirks have been sorted out with a few exceptions, although it seems like every other patch introduces new ones that need to be fixed. BTW I beat match 50 in Mission Mode earlier today, fun fact about it: although it says you have to earn a match rating of 100%, what it means is that you have to win the match with a 100% rating. I learned that the hard way...
  15. I mean, most of the people in that thread called out the guy for that statement so... I don't get how that's on FPA?
  16. For me, either games are a legit creative medium or they are not. If they are, I'd rather have the ending they wanted to make, as crappy as it may be (and everyone has assured me that it is quite crappy), than something they felt pressured to add on because people were yelling at them. If it wasn't left optional I'd have likely never even bothered to pick up the Trilogy pack.
  17. See, I look online and a bunch of places suggest that while the number got patched down, without the extended cut DLC it is still impossible to get without some external help. Without is 4000ish, with is 3100 and the max you can theoretically get purely solo is maybe 3700? Like I don't care if I get the best ending, if I make choices that result in things going wrong then I am more than fine watching everything go wrong. I played through the first two games FAQ-free and making whatever choice seemed most fitting for my Shepard and will likely do the same in 3 and Andromeda (well, sans Shep in the latter). I'm just bothered if it is impossible for me to get anything other than a bad ending because I didn't play multiplayer or download an alternate ending, which here says isn't a worry but the rest of the internet says is?
  18. This is actually one of the reasons I don't want to play ME3 without at least some DLC, as far as I can tell (and please correct me if I'm wrong) if you don't DL the new ending you still have the original "space points" or whatever the heck they are break point number that is too high to go solo, leaving DLC or co-op as the only viable ways to cross that point.
  19. I just watched the Rock/Foley parts of this recently and I don't recall that happening, perhaps I just missed it?
  20. FWIW I enjoyed the sleepmakeswaves album a good deal. It is very post-rock but I was in the mood for that.
  21. I don't think I actually watched any of the Mass Effect 3 trailers as I got into the games a bit after the fact but I did get the impression from the commercial that they were at least teasing the battle being brought to Earth itself, likely by the reapers. Is that about the extent of it, or does Andromeda go into more than that?
