  1. There are a lot of teams in the NBA that would have rolled over at multiple points in this series, and SVG would always manage to get them to keep fighting. Everyone in the organization should be commended. I think this Detroit team has a lot to look forward to. Drummond is way more skilled than he gets credit for. Truthfully, he's better offensively than Howard ever was, he's just so bad at one thing that he becomes unplayable. Jackson is good, although he is neck and neck with Jeff Teague for the talented PG who makes the most baffling decisions out of the PNR. I think the Detroit roster really depends on whether KCP can make another mini leap and whether Morris will decide to be a good boy for another full season. Oh, and signing, like, 5 new bench players. I think they have some money to spend. It will be interesting to see who they end up giving it to.
  2. Punk was fresh off a a tag title run and was viewed mostly as the leader of the Second City Saints at that point. Up until that point, he hadn't really won a singles feud with the exception of Raven. He had lost to Joe in under 15 minutes less than a year before, lost a match for the number one contendership to Danielson, lost a couple falls to Homicide, and lost in the finals of the Pure Title tournament to Styles (and lost the subsequent rematch). He had a distinct "always the bridesmaid" feel to him as a singles guy. Leading up to that title match, Punk had dropped his last four singles falls, and the title match against Joe didn't go on last because Gabe wanted it to be be a surprise that Joe would get pushed in what people felt would be a walkover. The main event was some Ultimate Survival Tag thing I think.
  3. I know there are a bunch of fans of power pop on this board, so I figured I'd share the new album by Nice Try, out of Blooimington. I'm not often charmed by music, but this album makes me want to sit next to a girl I like during summer and touch shoulder to shoulder: https://nicetry.bandcamp.com/
  4. I'm calling it now: Curry is out until the Clippers are up 3-0, then the Warriors reel off four straight because Clippers gonna Clip.
  5. Just a quick note: The Cavs in the next round will play Atlanta or Boston. That series might be a little less interesting than the Cavs/Miami.
  6. Brother punched a dude in the face. That's pretty cut and dry. Also, did anyone else catch Andre Drummond's Misawa elbow on Lebron last night? There has been a lot of rassling moves in the playoffs thus far.
  7. So in Hunter's ongoing fantasy rebooking of Golden Age ROH, who gets the Punk role of midcarder who pushes Joe to the limit with a couple hour long draws? In this analogy, Balor is "Xavier with facepaint", which actually works surprisingly well.
  8. I don't know if they stole it from somewhere else or thought of it themselves, but the current meme on FTS (the Cavs blog) is putting a picture of Green next to a picture of Donkey from Shrek and typing "Braymond" and I laugh every time. I can't help it. It's so stupid but so perfect.
  9. Bogut legit tried to put a Fujiwara arm bar on Dwight, and Dwight ended up getting a technical for it. It was unreal.
  10. It's a good move, although a lot of Browns writers have been saying that grabbing an O Lineman and sticking him at RT after letting an established, above average RT leave in free agency would lessen the value of the trade. I think because of this, they may start taking calls on Joe Thomas so that if they do draft a blue chip tackle, at least they can maximize his value by playing him at LT.
  11. I like how three of the Air Raid failures that EVA listed are Browns first round draft picks. Couch got a bad rap. He had a pretty decent season the year he got them to the playoffs, broke his leg and was never the same. Butch Davis wasn't interested in getting him back on the field, and he had an offensive line that was so bad it seemed like any pass play could result in the death of Tim Couch. That 2002 season, he was actively pretty fun to watch, and if he had stayed healthy, I think he could have developed in to a pretty decent starter. I would say the same thing for Courtney Brown as well, who was an absolute monster for the 35 snaps he would play a year before some part of his body would explode.
  12. I will say, I think it's going to be sad how much people will end up shitting on Harden's career. I think his peak will probably end up being pretty short, considering he plays a ton of minutes, gets fouled at a historic rate, and has, let's say, an active night life. The dude is a great basketball player, and I'm sure a generation from now people are going to be like "Harden? He was like a slightly better Michael Finlay but with no defense. That guy sucked, how'd be ever finish second in an MVP vote?"
  13. This isn't even an opinion, it's just incorrect. It's like saying Earth is the biggest planet not named Mercury. It's wrong on like, multiple levels. Nattie can't structure a match that builds to her finish, routine fails at athletic spots she insists on going to, and has horrifically failed multiple times at simple match finishes. Nattie trying to finish a match without screwing something up is like watching Jon Lester try and throw to first base. I know, wrestling is hard, but she is actively bad at it in a way that even mediocre people like Paige and Summer Rae are not.
  14. This Rockets team is awful. Any normal team would be winning this game by a million.
  15. I can't wait for the Browns to take the shittier QB with the number two pick in what is charitably described as a week QB class. They're going to field one of the most talentless teams in history. Just draft best available this year and get the kid from Clemson next year.
  16. There are just as many failures of people who didn't have the look. Let's not pretend that there is some magic formula for success that the WWE is willfully ignoring because Vince likes muscles.
  17. I really need a photoshop of James Harden falling through the wall and his glittery storm trooper helmet hitting the floor.
  18. I think they've said the suit is only for about $18,000, which is nothing to someone worth as much as Shane. It's being put forth by a single shareholder. I don't know much about this type of stuff, but it doesn't seem like this will really make waves. Feel free to correct me if I'm missing something crucial.
  19. I actually think the Bulls match up defensively better than a lot of people are giving them credit for. Rodman would be a great cover on Draymond, and Pippen would have the size to make Klay's life really hard. No one can guard Steph, but at least Jordan and Harper can foul the shit out of him. Luc Longley and Andrew Bogut would probably kill each other by the end of the series. I know we've been conditioned now to think size doesn't matter for today's NBA game, but the Bulls had a lot of guys who were above average size for their positions. Kukoc was 6'10"! Rodman was considered undersized for his position and he was 6'7". Pippen was 6'8" with one of the biggest wingspans ever. Those guys could all run, too. Stuff like that makes it harder to shoot until you get used to it. Also, I hate to agree with Kuetsar, but I would never put down money against Michael Jordan in a basketball game. I never liked Michael or the Bulls, but I feel like we've forgotten how inevitable he made things feel.
  20. Part of me thinks this leads to an invaders trying to destroy Evolve angle, which Gabe has love doing at every stop. I wonder if this sort of implies that WWE has decided thanks but no thanks on Thatcher?
  21. I don't understand why people are concerned about Roman Reigns having a heel turn. He is a heel. HHH was booked as a face for the majority of that feud, and now his first challenger to the title is one of the most over faces on the roster. Even if AJ Styles brings in Bullet Club, they will get cheered for beating down Roman and he will still get booed for Superman Punching his way out of it. He gets a dedicated heel reaction no matter what. Why do they need to show him stealing candy from children and tying women to train tracks? Why have him cut some lame promo about having scorn for the WWE universe? His mere presence is more heel heat than the writing staff could ever hope to get out of a dastardly turn in front of the sea of contrarianism that is the Raw audience. Enzo and Cass are great because the gimmick doesn't rely on them winning matches in order to stay over. They are goof balls. They say awesome catch phrases, they clearly like each other, and even if they lose, they're still going to say awesome catch phrases and like each other. I actually thought Bubba really added to the segment by clearly being entertained by them and not knowing what to make of them. That did more to put them over than anything the Dudleyz have done with the Usos or New Day.
  22. I don't think this was a good show, but I do think it may go down as a somewhat noteworthy or important one. I don't think any of the finishes were arbitrary or bred out of incompetence. I think everything was calculated to take back the show from the audience. Daniel Bryan was a great performer, and the fans getting behind him led to an all time great moment. That being said, it also led to a subsection of fans deciding that they can throw temper tantrums and consistently change the program based on their whims. Fans should certainly have a voice, but it shouldn't be the only voice, and I sort of think that last night's Wrestlemania was proof that the narrative and creative process from within the WWE will take precedent over fans deciding they ironically like Ty Dillinger this week and he should be champion or whatever. Please note: This is not a criticism of wrestling fans and we've had that discussion to death. I have no interest in having it again.
  23. The best thing about the Celtics win is that now their fans will be extra dumbfounded when they lose in the second round of the playoffs.
