  1. Eh, the guy had about 30 matches with him. Which one do you choose? I ask that ironically. I know someone has that definitive Goldberg-Jerry Flynn match ready...

  3. Wasn't that pretty much the routine for every heel in WWF circa 1974-1989? Heel wins first match via CO/DQ, face/heel wins 2nd match in controversy, face wins 3rd match convincingly, moves on. Once SNMEs came on you couldn't do that as much, and especially once RAW started. But it's not as if Hogan started the three match series. As far as the answer to the original question, since Hogan and Rhodes virtually never cleanly jobbed on TV (and I'm talking "1-2-3" in the ring no controversy) they are probably tied at 2-3 pins. Even's Andre's televised pins on Hogan are suspect since Hogan kicked out at 2 at the Shea show, and Monsoon intentionally fast counted Hogan at their MSG match. If 1990 counts, then Rhodes wins easily. He probably did more jobs from Sep-Dec 1990 than in the entire 1980s.
  4. Probably because of how loose/convoluted Japanese copyright laws are, WWE legal couldn't figure out who to pay royalties to so they just said "fuck it." Considering there's only about 50 of us left who actually subscribe to Classics, I wish they would just say "fuck it" and air everything unedited. I doubt the people with power would actually notice. I have to think the Junkyard Dog TNT "questions from the audience" was a total rib on JYD. Everybody asks him about his training regiment and how much food he eats, and this was around the time Dog pretty much said "fuck it" to his physique. So his answers pretty much are "I don't" and "a lot."
  5. That was pretty much a tweak by necessity though, since he had to wear some kind of facial mask after Mabel legit crushed his orbital bone.
  6. I absolutely agree with this. Watching those segments I couldn't help but feel that the SummerSlam finish may hinge on what the ratings turn out to be today. And while not as business-exposing as all those Bubba Ray gifs were, I loved the bit where Fandago realized he was too far away to take Cody's moonsault and had to leap into position at the last possible moment.
  7. Casey replaced B. Brian Blair who had quit. Coincidentally Blair had replaced Junkyard Dog who had been fired. So Casey was actually the THIRD stringer for that match.
  8. I love how you treat Heel Cole merely as a "phase" when his bullshit was ruining WWE TV for almost two years and probably still would be today if Jerry Lawler hadn't almost died on live TV.
  9. One of the bright spots in a total shit InVasion angle was how awesome Tajiri was treated: his great debut match against Crash Holly with Regal's great facial reactions, his dual title reigns as US and Lt Heavyweight (or Cruiser, I forget which), his tremendous interactions with Steve Austin (Austin being the one guy who could understand him), and then getting an angle where Torrie Wilson fawned over him. And as much disdain as I have for HHH in this era, I give him props for taking Tajiri's mist and selling it for half the show. Unlike Taker who took it and just looked mildly annoyed that he got spat on.
  10. I'm with you. Provided they don't blow the momentum, this could be the first PPV I've gotten since MITB 2011.
  11. They should replace the "Ric Flair vs a broom" phrase with "Rick Rude vs a snake." He had a more compelling fifteen second match against Damien on the LA house show than most of the filler matches on RAW.
  12. According to Meltzer, apparently the Jericho/Van Dam was only supposed to go 14 minutes, but they cancelled the Daniel Bryan/Wade Barrett match and gave that time to Jericho/Van Dam which is why the match went so long (and why RVD ran out of gas.) I thought this was one of the better RAWs in a long time. This is one of the rare times where the matches they are booking are all fresh, and all ones I want to see.
