  1. Pretty sure I was even as well at 3 each. Had to make a comeback to get even to that.
  2. Too many quotes, but I'm late to the party. Last night was good stuff. I can barely see today, but it was worth it. I will never have a custom horn, precisely for this reason. Every time I take a hard turn I'm leaning on the horn already. Having to hear a custom horn every time that happens would piss me off to no end. That was the one thing I was hoping for in that race - that I'd get to run over a scooter in that tractor. I'd kill for a way to get video replay on some of these deals. Misanthrope somehow found a vehicle even slower than the tractors. Stout and I waited by the finish line to give him time to finish the race. I went through the finish when he was about 50 yards away, and he still nearly got a DNF. I had no idea that Mark was not in the lead until we were almost at the finish line and I threaded nine needles to avoid the boondoggle of your piled up cars near the finish line. And then it turned out that he didn't even need us to farm one out since he won one legit at the end of the evening aka the clusterfuck where I kept running into the accidents you assholes caused seconds earlier. What pisses me off is that we bet on him to win, he won, and we still lost money. What the fuck? I was not fond of that painball map deathmatch map, but the experience was not as horrible as I thought it would be. If I thought about raising a body count rather than my overall K/D ratio, I'd probably win more solo deathmatches. The deathmatches at the mansion and in that construction site were right up my alley, though. I do much better in Team Deathmatches than I do in Normal ones. Rippa thought he was going to back door his way into a Deathmatch win, yet he turned out to be the Top Killer. No one turned on Owned+Pickups in any of the deathmaches. Nobody in the crew wants to see me get my Scoped Out platinum medal for sniper rifle murders. I got almost to the finish, and the realized I was in the lead. Stopped right by the finish, so I had a perfect view. Mark came past me, then I see JT fly by right on his ass. I had no clue who won until the leader board came up. All I can think of in that race is that maybe they have something in place in cases where everybody bets on the same guy, and then he wins. And most of those accidents you ran into were just me after I hit inanimate objects on every damn turn. I have the same problem with regular deathmatches. I worry too much about getting killed, so I don't take enough chances to win most of the time. The construction deathmatch was funny. Rippa saying we'd carry him to victory, then carrying us instead. About halfway through he had 6 of our 8 kills. We gotta keep you around, man. You flying 5 of us in the Titan for an airborne assault on another crew in free mode while simultaneously cutting a hilarious promo had me laughing my ass off.
  3. I would definitely go for another garage. I want to get at least one of the new cars, and I've got the money, but I'm going to have to sell stuff to make room. I'd also like them to fix things when they say they're fixed. I still don't have any hair after removing a mask, for example.
  4. That other guy was my fault. I was tracking tank boy by the bounty you put on him. The other guy had one on him too, and I killed him after I mistook him for tank boy. Pretty much exactly the same thing I did to you a few minutes later - I was a little trigger happy by then. After that he decided to go after me, not realizing a.) it would turn into 3 on 1 b.) that he was really, really bad
  5. I've done plenty of bug duty, including later that night when a tank showed up. It's nice to occasionally be the windshield. JT's inner gun nerd is shining through. You know more than me, and I've owned 3 Sigs - still own one.
  6. Had probably my best solo run in a public server yesterday. Started by grabbing a Jackal, one of the cars on Simeon's list, with the intent of doing the ignition bomb deal. Took it over to LSC downtown, but of course there's somebody already inside. I'm driving past when somebody pops up from hiding and shoots out a tire. I drive past him a little bit, stop, and take the guy out. His buddy pops up nearby and I take him out too. First guy spawns near me, and I have no cover, so he gets me. I spawn and get them both again before the first guy gets me one more time. At that point, a green maker pops up for a high priority vehicle. I locate it, take out the first guy one last time, and leg it over to grab the car for Simeon. Nobody interferes, so I grab the car and take it back to the same LSC as before. I plant the bomb figuring I'll get one of those two that got me, but they're apparently gone. I'm starting to worry that nobody's going to come after me, but I drive over to the LSC near Simeon's dock spot, hoping somebody will go after me there. I finally see somebody trailing me as I get to LSC. I can't get in, of course, so I just stop nearby then head back out the way I came. The guy takes me out on the ramp back up to the road, but annoyingly doesn't take the car. He races off down south towards the docks in his personal vehicle, and I just start running up the road north. Next thing I know, I'm flying through the air, as the guy hit me from behind with his car. I'm back up before he can get out, and he eats some shotgun rounds. I toss a sticky on the back of his car, find his spawn just north of me, and shoot him again. At this point I see that I'm boxed in on all sides, so I hunker down and the guy takes off. I trigger the sticky bomb on his car, taking him and it out before he gets too far. Then I notice that somebody else is right on top of the high priority vehicle. Sure enough he jumps in, and another explosion goes off. I'm still boxed in and hiding when the guy I sticky bombed drives right up to my hiding spot. I still have no clue how people locate you like that. He runs right at me, so I take him out one last time and head out towards my apartment. Before I can get to my apartment, an armored car pops up headed towards Simeon's dealership, so I head that way. By the time I get there, there's already 3 people there fighting over it, 2 of them in a purple hearse. One goes down from their fighting. I roll in, take the other two out, grab the money, and take off to lose the cops.
  7. Good Lord man, you're pretty much the Grim Reaper of GTA. How many LSPD tints is that for you now? I've been spamming deathmatches for a few weeks now, and I've barely managed to get two, and the easiest two at that (combat MG, advanced rifle). Only other weapon with any tint is the shotgun.
  8. I really need to quit blowing people's shit up. It's an expensive habit, and I'm trying to save up for a new toy. But yeah, about a minute after you left last night Stout, I stole a baller and got a bounty on me, I was taking it in to the LSC in the middle of town (I know, poor choice on my part). $9k bounty, and as soon as I step out of LSC from selling that baller, some asshole shot me and hightailed it back to his pad. I got in another baller, stuck a bomb to it and drove it right in front of his garage door. As soon as he came out, he died. I think he learned his lesson, he didn't bother me any more after that, not even when I took in the I/E car to Simeon. I need to concentrate less on warring in freemode for now and spam some missions to get my money & rp up. I just really hate tanks, so any time I see one now I grab one of my own. If I manage to take out the other one, I'll go ahead and dispose of mine. Sank one in the ocean over the weekend after collecting the bounty on a tanker. It drove underwater for about 15 seconds before it finally died. The rolling thing is a pain in the ass. I know how to do it, but I haven't mastered it well enough to be effective. I've run into people in deathmatches that have kicked the shit out of me using it. Somehow I managed to be up about 2 to 1 on nighthawk. Favorite kill was when I was on top of the downtown LSC and he kept zooming through the parking lot in his personal vehicle trying to taunt me and stout. After about 4 times of that I tossed a sticky bomb down there, and luckily managed to time it right. For some reason he stopped doing that afterwards. Favorite kill of the weekend overall was after grabbing the high priority vehicle for Simeon. I head down to LSC with misanthrope alongside. He goes into the LSC, and I see somebody else roll up on me. Guy tries to get an angle on me, but can't. He drives past me and I shotgun him in the back of the head for his trouble. I hop into LSC and tell misanthrope to clear out. Set the ignition bomb and head back out. As expected either the guy I shot or another player is waiting for me and takes me out immediately. I was already laughing before I even respawned. Only downside was I didn't actually get to see the explosion go off.
  9. That's why I keep trying to find a way to turn off all those automatic invites. If a match isn't going to make or is one of those that really needs more players than will be in there, then I'm bailing out. Same thing for the usual crappy suspects, or any melee deathmatches at this point. Plus I got kicked several times due to server wierdness. Got thrown into one match that I'd never done before. Looked good - lots of people and decent settings. Then I get a server error or something, and next thing I know I'm in that weird netherworld you get into sometimes, but I'm also underwater. I swim to the surface, and suddenly I'm falling through a brown sky. A parachute opens automatically. When I get close to landing, suddenly I'm back under this weird brown water again. Over and over for about 5 minutes before the game finally figure out whatever the hell it was doing. Probably should just do a party if we're on at the same time, so I can warn you if I'm not going to stick around. They really need to allow you to block certain matches/races automatically from the random list. As it is now, the game and I have a very dysfunctional relationship. My typical attempt to find a decent deathmatch last night was basically this: me: give me a random deathmatch GTA: ok, how about Prison Thugz? me: Thanks but no. Something else please. GTA: Here's a crowd pleaser - Seal Team 6 me: Sorry, no. GTA: Ok, let me think. I got it - Saving Ryan's Privates. me: Same problem as Seal Team 6. Can I have something different please? GTA: Are you sure you don't want to do Prison Thugz? me: I'm sure, let's find something else GTA: How about this, then? I've got a melee set in the prison, but it's not called Prison Thugz! me: uh-uh. GTA: how about this exciting user created match on top of a building? everybody has baseball bats! me: no melee. GTA: Seal Team 6! No melee in that! me: Seriously? We've been over this. GTA: here's a user created match with an enormous map and one other person in it. me: I'll spend 15 minutes in there to get 2 kills. GTA: are you absolutely certain you don't want to do Prison Thugz? me: you/re starting to piss me off. GTA: come on man, let's do Prison Thugz! Everybody loves it! me: Go to hell. I'm gonna go put in Skyrim. GTA: Fine, be a loser. I'll put you in Classy Construction. me: thank you.
  10. Late session last night was a mess with all the damn tanks. We'd jump into a new session, and within 2 minutes it's "Shit! Tanks!" again. One tank was rolling around downtown in passive mode, which is something I'd never seen before. I couldn't steal a car without pickup a bounty. About the only thing I did accomplish was to find one tank guy's personal vehicle, so that stout could take out his frustrations on it. melraz did get the LSPD tint for his heavy sniper, something that would take me roughly one dodecadillion hours to accomplish. Herby is probably going to be the only Austrian with a southern accent after a few weeks playing with melraz, jstout, misanthrope & myself.
  11. I did tell y'all about the amount cover on that one. Might as well have been in a maze
  12. Just bring Private Pyle (melraz) with you. Pretty much assures you're on the windshield side. I've got a bunch of kills on people he's pissed off so badly that they're totally focused on him, and not paying any attention to who else might be waiting out there with a shotgun. With free mode, you just can't expect it to be something it's not. Sure, it's mostly a Darwinian nightmare, but that doesn't mean doing your bit for natural selection can't be fun. If I'm in by myself I mostly follow the Golden Rule, unless they come after me. Then all bets are off. If I'm in with crew, it's more wait till somebody goes after one of us, then kill everybody. In one server last week, we had run off all but two people. The last two poor bastards had to know they were doomed. We had 3 helicopters inbound on their location, plus 2 more folks on the ground. The exceptions are tanks and people that are obviously glitching. Fuck those people. One free mode question for those who might know. Several times recently I've been hiding in an out of the way place, and in good cover, when I've had somebody drive right up to me. Clearly they knew exactly where I was, though my dot should've been obscured, and there's no way they could have eyeballed me. Any idea how that happens? Using Lester to reveal my location, or maybe somebody spotting from an apartment?
  13. One of the notes that Rockstar sent out a few updates back said that they had reduced the bad sport impact of destroying personal cars. And I've seen at least one note about fixing the timer on the dunce pool, so I guess you can get out eventually if you ever wind up there. Last night must've been a bad night for stupid level 19 players. I was checking out the tattoo shop up by Trevor's place, and when I got out there was a player dot nearby. Decided to hang out there for a while to see if he would go after me. He stayed put, but I see another player screaming up the highway towards me, so I got to a good cover spot - staying visible. I look him up, and he's level 19. He was the king of subtlety - just drove right up to me. He was circling all around me but couldn't find a way to flank me, so he finally has to come from the front. I shoot him in the face for his trouble. He respawns, I drive over to him, hop out and shoot him again. Rinse, repeat, over and over. Finally the heat from the cops got too bad, so I drove off. Couldn't shake them, so I drove back the way I came, shot the guy one more time, and took off for better cover down south. There was somebody in that session named kronicsniper - combining my two least favorite naming themes in the game. I thought about hunting him down just for that, but somebody with a girl's name was already killing him about every 10 seconds.
  14. Abandon unwitting crewmates in Prison Thugz, one time and you're branded for life. Stout picked the right time to ignore my invites. I probably only did 20% of them. At this point unless I'm with crew I bail out for these: I see Prison Thugz, Ryan's Privates, Seal Team 6, melee only, vehicles & matches that clearly won't have enough people to be any good. That covers most of the matches I drop into randomly. Tried the car bomb over the weekend on somebody that clearly knew what he was doing. I had my car wedged up against the LSC door, but he managed to ram it out of the way. On his way out, I hear an explosion, and his blip disappears from the map. I didn't get the message that I got him though, so I just stayed put. After a minute or two, he shows back up on my map. He couldn't find me, and I couldn't get a shot on him, so eventually he just took off.
  15. I don't really know how the deathmatch pay is determined. I think it's mainly based on how long the match takes. I've seen some 15k+ payouts, but only for ones that took 15-20 minutes to complete. After you showed me how to pick missions from the list, I went through the full list to see which ones I hadn't done yet. There were a couple of low ranked ones that I went ahead and did solo, and a couple that require 2 or more players that I still haven't done. The funny thing is that it still shows that I haven't completed Coveted, the mission that I'd done more than any other even before we started intentionally spamming it. Looks like we're taking advantage of a bug or two here.
  16. The playing field is level already. High level players (except RP Glitchers, who should be banned for being stupid) earned the right to have superior weaponry and armour by playing the game more and better. But if you insist on everyone having the same gun, Locked Only levels the playing field. Locked + Pickups steals Bullets and Rockets we paid for, and favours whoever memorised the map. Which, on user created Deathmatches, means the creator and his friends. Has anyone noticed that you can be shot through cover now? I was hiding behind the edge of a construction barrier, killed someone but took some hits and had low health, so I ran along behind it to recover my green bar, was covered up from head to toe behind it... and was shot and killed by bullets coming through it. It's been that way for a while, at least in some cases - corners of some buildings for example. I've been hit by bullets that had to pass thru several feet of concrete multiple times. I am the world's most inconsistent deathmatch player. Played 2 team matches back to back. The first was 2 kills and 6 deaths. The second was 11 kills, 1 death. I guess it mostly comes down to whether I'm familiar with the map.
  17. Working from home this afternoon, so I left the XBOX on with a car bomb percolating in a Baller. Just heard a bigass explosion coming from the other room. Sure enough victim #1. I'm now officially 1/20 th as evil as JT.
  18. I still can't master JT's car bomb technique. I tried it again last night with no success. I'm gonna keep at it though. On the way to drop off the rigged car last night I picked up a tail. He took a couple shots at me so I shot him in the face for his trouble. While I was waiting for the heat to die down, I look him up and notice he's level 8. That was ambitiously stupid on his part. Had fun helping spread chaos across free mode last night. Five us were going after some guy with a bounty holed up in Ft. Zancudo, when the asshole interrupted my doomed attempt to jump an 18 wheeler off the side of a mountain into the base. Pissed me off - I was almost at the jump when he got me. Went after him with a sniper rifle to get my revenge, going on somebody's guess that he was on top of the control tower. I couldn't see him he was so far away, but I did see muzzle flashes after he started shooting at somebody else, and that was enough. By far the longest shot I've made in the game thus far.
  19. I'm guessing most of us are in that same boat. I loved watching it back in the mid 80s.
  20. Yeah, I have learned the difference between hard rank and soft rank. I've come across Rank 100+ guys in firefights that barely know one end of the gun from the other and some Rank 50 and below guys who are fucking monsters. Lots of people got a high level by spamming races like Criminal Records or Down the Drain back before Rockstar changed the rewards. As a result, they got really good at those races, and often suck at everything else. I still remember doing a Boneyard survival with a level 200+ guy - the first time I ever saw anybody that high. He died early in each of the first 3 rounds and rage quit. Just shoot in amongst em. I'll be on tonight, but probably not till late. I had a bunch of car problems the other night. I got my personal Baller got stuck in a train tunnel on Mt. Chiliad, and it got dragged for probably half a mile. I really should have taken a picture of it. One door was bravely hanging on for a while before it finally fell off with the rest. The frame was so bent it was barely recognizable. Then jstout got annoyed with my choice of SUV to carjack, asking if we were taking the kids to soccer practice. At least I amused myself by getting the Mile High Club award during our shared flight out to Ft. Zancudo.
  21. Once again the board delivers - I had no idea the NAB challenge was televised here. Of course I'm wiped out to day after staying up till 4 watching Western Bulldogs vs. Saints last night.
  22. Forgot to mention a really weird deathmatch encounter. I was playing a team match out at the beach. I'm sitting up on top of a building behind a little ledge with 2 other guys waiting for anybody to be stupid enough to make a run at us while we're in cover. After a couple minutes of this, I look over at the other two and notice that the one furthest from me is on the other team. My teammate is right next to him and completely oblivious. I blasted the other guy before he figured it out. I guess all 3 of us were so intent on watching the open ground that we never gave each other a second look.
  23. I clearly do not have JT's car bomb skills. I tried it out a couple times on my lunch break. First time I'm pretty sure I got too far away. The second time I tried placing it right in front of the Los Santos Customs downtown. I left it just outside the the little barriers before the garage. I also tried to stage it to look like somebody got in the car by shooting out the driver's side window. People just rammed it out of the way. I'm guessing I either need to set it right outside the door or try using a remote triggered one.
  24. After getting several of JT's carbomb and ladies messages in the game, I'm now picturing him as part Desmond Llewelyn, part Smoove B.
  25. I was wondering how he did it, and I honestly have no idea. I was on the opposite side of the chopper from him, and couldn't see what he was driving. When I respawned he was driving past in a POS 80s Cadillac. Made it easy to get the first revenge kill.
