I stick to Mission Log for my Trek podcast.

Mission Log is great, but TGG is so funny.

edit: So on Twitter Matalas said all the clues are there as to who the big bad is in response to someone mentioning that Vadic told Seven it was appropriate she was there for the one on one with Jack.
Add that to Shaw saying in episode four that real Borg are still out there and they worship Locutus.....

  2. So, let's list who our final big bad boss might be.

    1. Pa Wraiths / possible Dukat

    2. Armus

    3. "Conspiracy " nubbin bugs

    4. Picard's brother

    5. Kevin Uxbridge

    6.  Nagilum

    7. Shelby

    8. Janice Lester

    9. Barcley

    10. Mark Twain

  3. I don't know if anyone else here is a fan of The Greatest Generation and The Greatest Trek podcasts, hosted by Ben Harrison and Adam Pranica. They're my favorite shows, and hilarious. TGG is the original show where they started with TNG, then DS9, and now they're in S5 of Voyager. TGT is their show on the New Trek shows. I wanted to share today's episode on this weeks episode of Picard. I was belly laughing in my truck today driving around.

I rewatched episode 8 of Picard again and, man, why couldn't this season what they had been doing from the start?!? Just do three seasons as TNG movies or something.

My hope is that they give Terry Matalas another Star Trek show to run after this. And not Starfleet Academy, which sounds like a Kurtzman thing anyway. I may disagree with the RLM guys on a lot, but I do agree that Starfleet Academy is pretty boring and they've been trying to do it for years.

Fuck it, just do Star Trek Titan, bring back Shaw and more people from 12 Monkeys. Holy shit! What's Emily Hampshire up to? She'd be perfect for Trek. Hell, bring in Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull while you're at it.

I'm down for a Titan show with Shaw, Seven, Crash LaForge, the Bajoran guy, the whole enchilada.

Changing the title reflect the content.  My main thing with this change....  use the spoilers tag if you're discussing things that haven't come out yet.  Otherwise...

Well, that was supposed to say boldly go... but Jean Luc acting like a half-gay borg works better.

Thank @Johnny Sorrow this was their idea.

  6. I know Avery is blackballed, but I'd imagine that these creators and the money behind New Trek don't give a shit about any blackballing situation. Maybe they did ask and he said, " Fuck off." cause he's holding a grudge. It's all conjecture but god damn do I want to see my favorite Captain one more time.

The more this goes on the more I get the feeling the Pah Wraiths tried to make their own Sisko and failed miserably for reason with Picard. Jack is just attempt no. 2. I wouldn't mind being wrong, but if we are really going the Pah Wraiths route I'm going to be so annoyed if we don't get a return of Sisko at the end.

      Reveal hidden contents

Kind of surprised to see Vadic and the Shrike already taken out. For some reason I figured they would make it to the final episode. Data and Lore kind of merging to osme degree was more or less what I expected, and I kind of like it.

Well, someone on twitter said that "If Sisko doesn't show up, we riot!"

Matalas tweeted back, "Get out your riot gear." So either he's playing people, or Avery Brooks wants nothing to do with it. Because I'd imagine they'd back up the Brink's truck to his house to get him. He also said Janeway is exclusive to Prodigy. Maybe he is trying to swerve us. 😀

Man, did the waterworks happen while I watched the new one. Denise Crosby appears and Everyone sitting around the table having their McLaughlin Group was awesome.

  8. I took the boys to a RAW in Denver last year and that was a blast, but there were more people at the house show.

I also took just my nephew to AEW Dynamite a few months ago.   He barely knows anything about it. He liked it just fine and had fun. His favorite act was Top Flight. The funniest thing was it was his first wrestling show where it wasn't mainly families and kids. At some point a chant with " Fuck" in it broke out and he was carefully kinda clapping along with a look on his face that said, " Am I allowed to do this?"

I’m gonna bring my boys to the next wwe house show that comes through here.

I've been taking my nephew and his friends to WWE house shows for awhile and they're always a blast. We just went to one in Denver a week and a half ago where 9000 people were there. It was awesome.

Got damn, Rhea/Charlotte was nice. Probably Charlotte’s best match ever and BY A MILE the best thing she’s done since…pre-pandemic. Seemed like she understood she needed to tighten her shit up vs. Rhea’s physicality, and we got what felt like a rare female hoss battle, as a result.

Of course, then she kinda had to shit on Rhea’s win by doing her usual passive aggressive “laugh and clap” routine, but whatever. Charlotte gonna Charlotte.

I think that was more Charlotte being real and knowing they just tore the house down while her face was swelling up from the bump that rug burned her.

I may be slightly drunk, but the was the show of the year. Rhea vs Charlotte fucking ruled, the storytelling in the main event is on par with Kenny/Hangman vs the Young Bucks, Mysterio vs Dom was great.

     Fuck man, does WWE rule?

Yeah, it does. Everything is on fire. And the Bloodline story stomps the Elite stuff's dick in the dirt. What a great show!

I've been trying to find that old Warner Bros cartoon where the 1812 Overture plays over the big bar fight, and all these pumped up dog sailors walk into the bar, only to get thrown straight back out again.

I hope they do that spot in Wargames with the BCC.

Pretty sure its proven that old Warner Bros cartoon spots and catchphrases have effortlessly translated to modern professional wrestling

Totally. Miss Atlanta Lively was over.

Pah Wraiths as the core fiends do not make much sense. Why would they go after the Federation? Because Sisko was human? I think that's a bit of a reach. Just looking at TNG, you could probably find 50 more likely culprits. And using Picard for their plot very likely has to have some personal history (and the Pah Wraiths definitely did not have any history with Picard).

The perfect resolution would mean that the man/woman (person, camera, tv) behind the plot would fulfil: (1) TNG character, (2) appeared more than once, (3) has reasons for hatred both for Picard as well as the Federation, (4) is still alive (both the character as well as the actor). I have to admit, it's hard to come up with someone fulfilling all criteria. They went through Q, Borg and Romulans in season 1 and 2 (and looking at candidates, the only somewhat character that I would give a non-zero chance would be the Romulan-character of Denise Crosby, Sela), the plot is not Klingon (and there are also not that many candidates, I mean B'Etor wouldn't work), there is no profit to make this way, so no Ferengi and I don't think there were any other recurring characters that I would categorize as foes

Hear me out. It's a Pa Wraith amalgamation with Gul Dukat. Heh?
I love how people are fantasy booking the reveal. I have confidence they'll stick the landing.

    THE BASTARDS GOT TUVOK!!!

Janeway is for SURE showing up.  At this point I'm amazed that Torres and Paris' kid hasn't shown up yet.

When Lt. Naomi Wildmon shows up to kick some ass I'm gonna lose it.

That Tuvok scene was fucking great. They swerved the audience with music. When fake Tuvok says he lost those games and Seven smiles, the Voyager theme swells up. That's telling us it IS Tuvok! Yay! Then ten seconds later the swerve knocks you out. Fantastic!

John Nord is highlighted on this week's Crime In Sports.

I just resubscribed to the Patreon. I'm listening to the one where they tear apart and make fun of Benoit conspiracy theories, complete with Billy Jack.  It's freaking hilarious.

My sister came over last night to show me the sex toy she found in our parent’s house (both parents are deceased and we’re cleaning out the house to sell).   I’m generally kind of stoic and unflappable, so sis greatly enjoyed watching me squirm.  I thought I was old enough to be comfortable with the idea that my parents had lots of sex -we’re a big family, after all - but my mother was a devout, no-nonsense Catholic, mostly conservative and buttoned-down.  She was a great mom and we had happy childhoods, but if I had to sum her up in a word, “matronly” might do.  She’s about the last person I expected to own a vibrator,

I was really weirded-out when sis showed me the batteries still work.  My parents were both in their eighties when they passed.  Trying hard not to ponder the whys of that one,

So, yeah, I already hate this week.

Your sister sounds like my kind of people.

  17. We just got out of the WWE Sunday Slammer Road To WrestleMania show in Denver tonight. Holy shit, it was great. The place was basically sold out and Denver lived up to its reputation as a hot wrestling town. We were on fire all night. My nephew and his pals had an amazing time and so did I. And, I had looked up what matches were being done on this tour and was expecting the same card. They gave us a different show than the rest of the tour.
    From memory the card was:

    1. Bianca BelAir beat Chelsea Green

    2. The Brawling Brutes beat Imperium

    3. Bronson Reed beat Johnny Gargano

    4. Charlotte Flair beat Liv Morgan and Sonya Deville

    5. Asuka and Mia Yim beat Damage Control

    6. Miz TV with Denver's own Bobby Lashley led to a three way match where Austin Theory beat Lashley and Miz when Theory pinned Miz.

    7. Cody Rhodes, Ricochet, and Strowman beat the Usos and Solo Sikoa.

The crowd went NUTS for Lashley. It was awesome.
Oh, and they turned down the crowd lights for the Main Event. It looked great.

WWE claims (and I don't think it's BS either) that they have created a lot of younger fans who now attend the shows with their parents etc.  Ticket sales look really good.  Ratings look as good as they've been in a while.  These people love Cody. Hell,  I like Cody too.

I've been going to lots of WWE shows in Denver over the last few years with my nephew and the crowds are all families with kids. Hell, I'm taking my nephew and two of his pals to a WWE show tonight.
