I thought the launch episode was good and a good idea in general to throw off the obvious just a bit. It also helped set up what we got here in episode 2. Loved this episode. I always enjoy the Federation being called out on some of its hypocrisies or issues in general. I also just enjoyed how Una's friend clearly set up so much. She clearly knew what she was doing from the getgo once she accepted the case. I loved how even the judges and prosecution were clearly impressed after her final statements.

I agree. And they needed to start with a big adventure episode to reset the table and grab potential new viewers.

THEN drop one of the best Trek episodes ever.

DAX HARWOOD WON A SINGLES MATCH

Tony Khan is making himself a character at house shows as an authority figure! That stinks worse than when he's appears on TV in bad pretapes, at press conferences, and hyping Dynamites.

  4. I loved that it was Jimmy who turned first. It plays off the origins of the Bloodline, when Jimmy returned wearing an " Nobody's Bitch" shirt and at first wasn't bending the knee to Roman like his brother did after getting beat by Reigns in HITC.

The 30 for 30 on the Mets is just great and pretty much everything you thought it would be.   Went from the beginnings to their World Series run to why it only lasted a year.    Some thoughts:

    1.  While most people assumed the star would be Strawberry and Gooden, the true star on this is Keith Hernandez.    Just a strangely fascinating person who is so likeable and hateable at the same time depending on the person he was talking about.  At times talking while playing with his cats.  Brutally honest about his relationship with his dad, his , his drug issues and involving in the cocaine trial, and more.  The story of him  telling Jessie Oroscco that if he throws another fastball in the 16th inning of Game 6 against Astros he will fight him on the actual fight.

    2.  The Mike Scott talk was great.  I remember him being completely unhittable in 1986 but forgot that everyone thought he was scuffing the balls.  And then you see the actual balls from those games and man those balls were scuffed like crazy.  Like how in the world did nobody notice these.  I guess it was because of how hated the Mets were

    3.  The scene of them winning the division is insane.  There are probably 100 people on the field and the ball hasn't reached first base yet.  The field afterward looked like a checkerboard with so many chunks taken out.  People trying to steal home plate in front of the cops.   Fans today will never realize the days of the 70's and 80's how easy it was to celebrate in the crowd.

    4.  The Plane Ride from Hell after winning the 86 NLCS.   Thousands of dollars in damage and Davey Johnson looking at the bill to the players and rips it up and says Fuck them we will make a shit load of money

    5.  I loved Gary Carter as a kid but apparently Mets players hated him because he was so different than him.  Even his wife was kind of treating him like he was this lovable dork.

    6.  Of course the game 6 of World Series is awesome.   Had no idea that they actually announced in the game that Bruce Hurst was the MVP and congratulated the Red Sox for winning.  Nice to see they got Calvin Schradi for it.     All the players going to Bill Robinson the 1st base coach saying "I am not going to the last fucking out"

    7.  You know Dwight Gooden has a major drug problem when just days after Len Bias death he is telling people to give him that Len Bias shit.

Lots of other great stories like the George Foster controversy,  Roddy Piper cutting a promo at MSG talking about how the Mets will still win down 2-0, and of course Lenny Dykstra being himself.

I'm just catching this now, and it's great. Dykstra is such a mess.

  6. We just had our first Little League practice with my new team for this season. I have four returning players, including my nephew, and eight boys new to my team. I loved what I saw, we got some talented kids and by the end of the night the boys had all made friends and started acting like a team. It's gonna be a good season.

Just a reminder that Hunt and Liddy were evil mother fuckers.

Right. Which is why it's funny watching them being portrayed as buffoons. Hunt is portrayed as a family man who's at least a complicated piece of shit. Thus far Liddy is a total maniac.

The White House Plumbers HBO show is bizarre and hilarious. Missed the first episode but it should be great. Liddy is played as an absolute nutter with absolutely no self-awareness of such and Hunt seems to be squirming constantly. I noticed in the credits that Kathleen Turner was in the show, just found out that she played Dita Beard and was absolutely unidentifiable. It may have been a bit of makeup, and I know she's old now, but her as fat and elderly was wild. And hey, Kim Coates got a role!

Justin Theroux is hilarious as Liddy. And I had no clue that was Turner! I'm really liking this show thus far and I wasn't sure going in.

I started reading some of Dean's old reviews in the DVDVRs and it inspired me to start writing some reviews. Whether or not it will stick is another question but I wrote up reviews of a couple matches last night and really had a lot of fun. Might do a few more tonight.

But I agree, a Dean DVDVR tribute issue, an ongoing thread reviewing his favorite matches or whatever would be really cool.

Dean’s daughter is posting on Reddit if any of you have accounts there and want to say anything to her. I told her about this thread but she’s scared to come here and see DEAN’s sex jokes 😂

We're worse than Reddit? Dean would be proud.

He was OUR FRIEND. All of us, our FUCKING FRIEND.

I'm putting some Husker Du on the thumb drive for the car tonight.

I mentioned that Dean used to request songs on that old show I did. One time he asked for the Dead's Box Of Rain from the Virginia 84 show where the Dead brought it back. They hadn't played it since 1974, and his wife was at that show, and I think was listening.
I found it really fast, cause...of course I did, and before I played it I said something about how awesome the moment was and that it was cool she was a Dead fan.

Dean then told me that it freaked out his wife because Heads were losing their shit and some were running around naked in joy. 😀

I'm pretty sure this was before Dean quit drinking. It'd explain why he liked my show.
