Do you have a bucket list of wrestling venues/arenas you'd love to visit? Or just your favorites that you've already been to?
Freeman Coliseum holds a special place in my heart for sentimental reasons. Saw lots of wwf events there in the 80s, last one was when Sherri was managing HBK, around that time frame
Would love to make it to Japan and Mexico, see some of the historic arenas one day. Ecw fan in me would like to see the "ecw arena" just to say I'd been there once. Ditto MSG for my inner early 80s wwf fan
Favorites? The late, lamented Joe Louis Arena that I just talked about. Also, Arena Mexico and Arena Coliseo. A couple of pilgrimages that I was thrilled to make.

What era of WWF/WWE do you prefer and why?
Pre-1984
1985-1992
1993-1997
1997-2002
2002-2007
1985 - 1992.
Got to see The British Bulldogs go 25:00 with The Hart Foundation in Detroit (RIP, Joe Louis Arena) and even then I could tell that all four were just getting warmed up by the time the match was over.
The Jumping Bomb Angels were amazing.
Jake Roberts's DDT was a death spot - Ricky Steamboat made it truly look like The End on that one SNME.
Steamboat and Randy Savage being awesome in general, and at WM3 in particular.
Koko B. Ware's dropkicks and KILLING people with the Ghostbuster.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. If you'd like to derail this thread by bringing up more examples of special local food from around the world, that would be delightful.
If you're ever in the Washington, DC area, you need to get familiar with Half Smokes (smoked sausages that are half beef, half pork) and pupusas (El Salvador's national dish - thick griddled cakes made from conrnmeal and stuffed with cheese and beans/pork/herbs) with spicy fermented slaw.

According to the new BTS, there was a 1991 match in ST Louis with Sting and PN News over Hansen and Muta
This is 3/4 of a very interesting match.

Put Christian in Jeff's place, have him somehow cost Jurassic Express the match. They seem to be hinting a fallout with him and Jungle Boy anyway, just speed it up a bit.
And you've got the whole 20-years-plus rivalry between Matt and Christian that could easily lead to JE losing. Mistakenly of course....it wasn't his fault, you see...
EDIT: I have no idea how they would explain Christian challenging for the belts, but I guess it could be done to somehow kinda sorta make sense.

Ukraine looked tough against Scotland - they're a talented team in general, but they have to be playing with tons of emotion right now as well.

I'd want to watch Italy v Argentina if it weren't for the Scotland v Ukraine match.
Ukraine probably the better side so far, but could have also gotten a red card too.
I like that they're bringing back the Finalissima now that the Confederations Cup is no longer a thing. But yeah, Scotland/Ukraine is more important.

Scotland/Ukraine playing in Glasgow right now on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

I love that everyone was in position to catch him, and Eddy who wasn't in perfect position made sure that he got there. Tell me that you're a pro without telling me that you're a pro.

Johnny Gargano can be quite good at times when he's in with the right person. His NXT title match against Andrade was great, one of WWE's best matches in a very long time.
But I don't ever want to see him against Adam Cole again.
Cole's heel shtick wore thin with me years ago, and I'm not looking forward to him winning this tournament.
And I'm going to need Hayter/Storm again at some point soon, hopefully for one of the Women's belts.

Gotcha. Slater was a world class worker in the 1970s and early 80s who was viewed as the best Terry Funk not named Terry Funk. He had a serious car accident at some point that has been brought up in several shoots I’ve seen when his name comes up. Could be around that time frame you referenced.
He was also just banged up in general by that point and was on the decline in Mid South just before the ill-fated WWF run, IIRC.

Lots of great memories brought up by going through this thread. Barnwell was a good friend for a bit there as I was getting into Soccer - very happy for his ongoing success. The two of us watched the US/South Korea World Cup match at like 3 AM with Pete in 2002 and kept Pete's poor dog up all night.
I'll randomly bump into Schneider when I head into the office - at least, before the Pandemic started. Married life agrees with him.

@Pete: Just seen it now. Never mind Blue Moon, bet you turned the air blue. For those who missed it or want to relive it:
Oh shit.
I wasn't Steffen's biggest fan before this, but I'm definitely worried about him in goal for the USMNT at the World Cup now.

Also since it’s a WCW videotape, there’s parts of Havoc 91 which weren’t on the tape that I’ve never seen.
Wonder if the WWE would be able to do a stadium event in Scotland to finish the series of huge UK events.
I'm pretty sure - it's been a long time - that Steve Austin/Dustin Rhodes and Brian Pillman/Ricky Morton were the only things on the show worth watching.

I've found Raw to be unwatchable for years. Cody's not going to change that for me.

MLS continues to shit the bed in ConcaChampions. New England with a massive choke job vs Pumas UNAM last night, blowing a 3-0 home advantage and losing in penalties.
Massive choke job, indeed. With the away goals rule, all the Revs had to do was score one goal and Pumas would have needed five.

Going back to the Russian Leg Sweep discussion for a moment....my favorite use of it - besides Brad Armstrong, of course - was when El Samurai would use it in New Japan and keep his opponent down then swing his leg over for a ground cobra twist submission. Always liked that combination and someone should steal it for use today.

Marty Scurll's shtick pretty much makes the Bullet Club unwatchable by himself.
I still record ROH on the hope that a decent match gets on the show by accident, though.

As great as that Hennig gif is - and it's great - it's going to take a whole lot to get me to vote against Gordy scaring children and the elderly.

The worst-kept secret out there - October's WCQ in Orlando was announced ages ago, but this is just coming out now.
It's a news story when US Soccer actually gets something right.

With the UEFA Nations League basically taking European friendlies off the table, it's certainly in the best interests of the USMNT to play two Asian teams - one of which was the second-best team in Asian WC Qualifying (Saudi Arabia), seeing as how we've got the best (Iran) coming up in Qatar.
