  1. Which overlooks how think the Smackdown roster was at the time. It was Eddy or Undertaker, making a new star was the right choice./ Why is a short fat guy calling himself the Yeti? During JBL's reign there was no shortage of talent that could have filled the main event role. Taker, Eddie, Angle, Booker T, Mysterio and RVD would have made a better main event scene vs. what actually happened. Granted Eddie was on the decline and Angle would eventually be out for some time, but having JBL outside of the WHC picture at the time isn't completely unreasonable and he would have served as a good hand in the midcard.
  2. Barrett is hurt. I doubt he will be in The Rumble. So yes, that leaves 6-8 spots (depending on how you feel about HHH being a 'surprise' entrant) for the match.
  3. WWE has a chance to setup something interesting, but its not going to happen. I have no interest in Reigns making it to the final four and WWE should really get rid of that Royal Rumble trope. Having Reigns get eliminated within the first 15 minutes will definitely set the stage of 'anything can happen'. The 'shocking' end will most likely involve HHH/Brock/Reigns with Reigns eliminating Brock and then HHH tossing Reigns or HHH dumps Brock/Reigns to the outside and both of their feet touch the floor at the same time. At this point it really comes down to which contrived and overly stale ending WWE decides to go with, because there is no other ending.
  4. Me and Yeti must be the only ones who see #SO as the new J.O.B. Squad? Granted, I like #SO and I think some good stuff can be done with them, but at the same time- let's call a spade a spade. Adam Rose's entrance was over,Axel has never been over outside of the brief AxelMania run, Bo was over in NXT and for a while in WWE until WWE threw another bucket of ice water on him, Slater has been amusing and gets laughs here-and-there, but he has never been over. Hopefully these guys can make something work like New Day was able to get something going. #SO has a lot of potential and hopefully they get a real chance.
  5. Stephanie McMahon is a heel and yet everything she said to Jericho backstage had me nodding my head in agreement. Jericho has worn out his welcome and I am not sure how anyone can defend him in 2016. Is there really ANYONE on the roster who can benefit from trading wins with Jericho or even rubbing elbows with him at this point? If there are some people like that on the roster (and I have no idea who that would be), Jericho doesn't want to work with them. Jericho's last run (and this one so far) have been a too Inside Baseball for me to give a shit about. Factor in that he is stale as shit and its just boring T.V. Hopefully Jericho has his retirement match this year and never appears on WWE TV again. I know what WWE was going for at the end there, but it doesn't work when most everyone involved in cold.LoN are barely over and The Wyatts are in the process of getting re-heated. Lesnar is over and Reigns can still go either way depending on the city and/or his opponent. If everyone in that final segment was protected, it would've been explosive. Random Musings: Alicia Fox needs to stop wearing weaves. Outside of Namoi, Fox's is the most obvious and is the worse. There is nothing wrong with going natural. A paradigm shift is needed. Natalya needs new gear. I don't like the middle-aged soccer mom dominatrix look on her. Toss in the drag-queen like makeup job and its just a loss all around. The New Day funeral was good. Everyone worked hard in that 8 man, but the crowd could not haven given a shit either way. Those are the types of matches WWE should probably save for Smackdown where WWE is free to pipe in as much crowd noise as possible. I didn't get the same 'the white man got the pin' feeling like some, but meh. The Vince/Stephanie stuff was just bad and didn't need to happen. Its segments like that (and the Stephanie/Jericho backstage encounter) that reminds me that Raw is 3 hours long and WWE has no idea on how to fill it. The show moves at such an awkward pace. Becky needed that match and promo on Monday. As its stands right now she is one of 2 faces going into The Rumble hot. Naomi needs to think outside the box and hopefully quickly come to the conclusion that acting/dressing 'ghetto' is something that black women need less of on national TV. I am not sure how much of that is her and how much of it is WWE, but its something I would like to see changed.
  6. Happy MLK day everyone! www.complex.com/sports/2016/01/sunny-former-wwe-diva-uses-n-word-twitter?utm_campaign=complexmag&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&sr_share=facebook Re: JBL I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. JBL's title reign was much like JJ's TNA reign. A good hand who should be the 2-3 matches away from the main event, thrust in the main event for 'reasons'. I have always contended that if JBL was U.S. champion at that time and worked with the mid card Smackdown talent (Rene Dupree, Paul London, Billy Kidman, etc.) it might have been a god run to set him up for the world title (if WWE wanted to continue going in that direction).
  7. If WWE had that mentality toward the latter half of the year (when business is down anyways), then it could potentially curb a lot of injuries going into the Mania season. I am all for Lame Duck champions, etc. post SummerSlam. R-Truth having a 3 month title reign would have been more fun then Sheamus holding the gold and that would allow people like Cena, Reigns, etc. to take it easy (maybe wrestling 3 times a month instead of ten) and allow for the top guys to do more promo work to build to the PPV matches. An approach like that will solve several things: 1. The product being stale. 2. Assist in curbing injuries to top stars by reducing their schedules. 3. Allow WWE to test the drawing point of its entire roster during a period where historically ratings, etc. go down anyway. I know its not going to happen, but a man can dream.
  8. There are players I like more than the teams. I was a big Timberwolves fan because of Garnett. When it was Garnett, Sprewell, and Casell...things looked good. As soon as that fell apart and Garnett went to the Celtics with Pierce and Allen...The Celtics became my favorite team. I don't follow non-combat sports heavy enough to really care about the local teams, etc. But if there are players I really like- then I hope they do well wherever they go and I will be rooting for those players/the new team.
  9. One of the things that confuses me about WWE is not (for the most part) the stories that the company chooses to tell, but WHEN those stories are told. As mentioned, if this company had some solid guys at the top* then the title going back to ADR wouldn't be THAT big of a deal as people would recognize that ADR winning the title back is most likely the end of Act 1 in this three act story structure. *Let's be real here. Cena is the only top guy who can be considered 'over',Reigns is still lukewarm, no one gives a shit about Sheamus (as the dead crowds serve as proof), and both Taker and Brock are working part-time. This is not a good situation to run a hot-potato angle with any of the titles. Again, I hate to keep saying it and come off as Chicken Little but WRESTLEMANIA FUCKING 32 is right around the corner and the fact that WWE is gearing up to potentially have Taker, Rock, HHH, and Jericho in feature roles are both glaring and problematic.
  10. I made an edit to the photo I posted earlier. Its a photo of Santino's breakdown of his A.P.P.L.E. stable.
  11. Balor, Joe, Corbin, and Bayley are confirmed for that show. No one else as of yet.
  12. Mauro is great. I am a Mauro mark so perhaps I am bias, but holy fucking hell he is working with Saxton and Lawler? WWE just will not give up on Lawler huh? Completely unreal.
  13. I never liked the guy prior to NXT and even once he got there I was still not warmed up to him. Its only been the last few months where I started like him and it really comes down to this: 1. He looks like a cool guy (action hero/ladies man) 2. The demon persona for big matches is always awesome (putting on the war paint before battle) 3. His promos are solid and believable. I know these three things are not the end-all-be-all for people, but its enough to get me on board with Balor. The fact that he has been working top programs with Joe, Owens, etc. also doesn't hurt.
  14. I thought this Smackdown would be different. Looking at the photos from the event, it looks like business as usual. I guess a new commentator, but everything else looks the same. I highly doubt WWE would actually film this differently than the episodes of Smackdown/Raw from the last 5 years so I am not sure what the hype is about.
  15. I don't know why I think that in 2016 TNA is going to surprise me and do something fun. Its the same stuff. Same format. Nothing has changed. And I don't care what anyone says, TNA needs to get rid of its KO division. The majority of that division sucks and that fact shouldn't be sugar-coated. the division has been the shits every since TNA decided to emulate The Divas division more and push real talent (Taylor, Sarita, Hamada, Flash, Daffney) to the background and eventually out of the company. There are absolutely zero matches I want to see in the division and I know a broken clock is right at least twice a day, but I don't believe its worth it at this point. KO's are BARELY having better matches than ROH's WOH division and that's pretty fucking sad because if TNA wanted to it could. I am glad I am not the only one who thought Estrada returned to the ring ( I saw the screenshot first before the actual show). TNA really needs to give some of its talent a monthly stipend for fashion. If Mike is SUPPOSE to be a big deal, he needs to dress like one and that doesn't mean wearing something off the rack. Not many people in TNA are running the 'suit and tie' gimmick right now so it shouldn't be that hard to make sure EC3 and Bennett stay nice and sharp. Since Roode is now the 'money' in 'Beer Money' again, he should be tossed some dough as well. Also, I am a bit sad that Storm is teaming with Roode to 'have some fun'. Can this company stop sucking off the worst of WWE tropes.
  16. Dana Brooke has nudes that are now online and the reaction to all of this in 2016 is still disturbing to me. I was on one forum earlier in the day and all I read was 'she is in so much fucking trouble' and things like that. I know WWE likes to pretend taking the high ground in situations, but I really hope Dana's nudes get nothing more than a 'meh' from the office if ANYTHING at all. Any 'punishment' of any kind is flat out bullshit. This isn't Dana doing some crazy R. Kelly shit. This is simply a situation of someone taking a nude photo of herself. Why she did it can be anyone's guess (is it really THAT crazy to assume that someone who is into fitness, wants to accurately track her results). I am not sure if this comes down to slut shaming, but the 'oh she has to answer for this one' mentality is just fucking nuts and completely annoying!
  17. How did he, a teenager, afford multiple shows across multiple states? That's an interesting question. Only reason I care is because I remember seeing him on tv back in the day and it was always a "hey didn't I see that kid before" thing. Yeah I remember seeing him on one of the WCW shows CLEARLY mugging/turning it up for the camera. Good seats all the time.
  18. Who are those girls? I can't pinpoint any of them.
  19. I understand loyalty and all, but FUCK! Get Lawler off of commentary in 2016.
  20. The Slammy Awards is something that should never be three hours and shouldn't be something that takes up an entire show (if it TRULY is not dedicated to itself). Michael Cole running down the winners during nothing matches and break between matches is fine. A scroll at the bottom of the screen works as well. The big winners (and there should only be no more than three actual aware presentations [one each hour] should be for the highest honors and should actually lead to something or maybe some forced narrative. Maybe have the guys who were nominated in the OMG category compete in a NHB match later in the show. Maybe the Superstar of the Year gets a shot at the U.S. title that night. Maybe Comeback of the Year has to face a surprise opponent (this is when WWE can use its connections and bring in someone like RVD for one night or someone completely ridiculous like Buff Bagwell). Something that keeps the show moving and fun.
  21. Maria K. living the gimmick? Here's the thing...Mike and Maria are smart. TNA is a sinking thinking that bringing in new personnel is going to fix the problem. TNA is most likely over paying both of them and will not get any benefits. I wouldn't be surprised if both Mike and Maria were going to make close-to-if-not-slightly-over six figures each with travel accommodations included. TNA isn't running alot of shows in 2016 so six figures with less than 100 dates of actual work (and STILL most likely being able to do non-televised indy dates) is a good deal. I am also sure POP/TNA have something cooking now that they can both say they have a former Playmate and Celebrity Apprentice participant on the network. If people love Total Divas wait until TNA rips it off with Maria leading the charge.
  22. No Mercy 2006 has MOTYC between Angle and Taker, but that's a year out. I am blanking on 2005 and just had to look some the next 3 PPVs. Batista/HHH II, Benjamin/Jericho, and Angle/Booker T look to be some interesting ones coming down the pipe. *starts watching Backlash 2005*
  23. I cannot remember where I read/heard this from, but I am pretty sure HHH went on record stating that NXT is a loss for the company and the touring that the guys/girls do helps pay for NXT and the talent gets no cut from the gate. If that is truly the case (and stays like that), it would be interesting to see if NXT workers get 401K, healthcare, etc. in lieu of cuts of live gates, merch, etc. that the main roster gets while not reciving the 'normal' job benefits. NXT being a money hole for WWE makes sense and is overally a good investment for the company in more than one way. But yes, with TV rights in 120 countries, a number of house shows, and inking deals with two American networks in the past two years - I am sure TNA's bottomline is pretty patheic (in the grand scheme of things), but still much more than NXT.
