  1. This place has had two gimmick posters that I know of. One is gone and the other is still in residence (hint: He LOVES lucha), but I can't think of any others. But yes, I agree, the labeling is getting insane.
  2. This was actually a really fun show. Everything I saw worked for me. Full disclosure: I had the first 15-20 minutes on as background noise while I searched for music and something (dishes?) had my attention during The Miz match. I have to be honest, but I am not a fan of "goosebumps" Rock. If he is having a match, I am fine with that, but if he is popping into places to just say 'thank you' and take up TV time, I'm just not entertained. If the roster (and Rock's material) were stronger, perhaps I wouldn't have a problem with that but making fun of Show (A guy who is getting 'boring' and 'please retire' chants across the country), outing Lana as a slut as she smiles and nods while making Rusev look like a goober, and signaling out Byron Saxton by his skin color and Byron's terrible performances (though they have been smoother as of late) was just all bad. After all the 'thank you's', comedy, burials, and other non-sense outside of the New Day all we are left with is that Rock is going to be at WM. As if that is enough? Again, if Rock is wrestling, great. If he is coming in to be on the show to cut another 'goosebumps' promo, no thank you. Does anyone else feel that The Usos are just one Philly crowd from being shit on by the rest of the country? Remember New Day were de-facto faces when they came in but the crowds for the most part were very cold for the act. Philly (?) started the whole "New Day Sucks" stuff. I feel its bound to happen to The Usos. These guys are over, but BARELY. Having the 'Love to Have Fun' gimmick is running its course and I can hear it in the crowds and its been going on for months. I wouldn't mind seeing Jericho/Styles II at Fast Lane and Becky/Sasha/Charlotte at Fast Lane. Its been reported WWE wants this show to be more than a Lame Duck and these two matches will definitely help ensure that it will be as far from a Lame Duck as possible. With the main event of Ambrose/Lesnar/Reigns, this is shaping up to be a hell of a pre-WrestleMania card! Re: Taking the title off Reigns It was pointed out earlier in this thread how much it doesn't make sense and the whole thing just makes undermines The Authorities presence and entire mission. Neither The Authority nor Reigns come out looking good and then of course Lesnar was tossed into the match just because.
  3. If Ambrose won, there would be two questions. Who would he face at Mania and what will happen with the IC title. Ambrose would relinquish the title on Raw and thus setting up a tournament (with Semi and Quarter Finals happening at Fast Lane) and then have the finals of that tournament go down at Mania. This new spot could be used for Zayn/Owens or for an excellent showcase for Styles against a good worker like Rusev.
  4. Also, WWE needs to continue to work on closing logic holes. Some of the things that happened during this RR bothered me (and have for years). Aside from the mentioned 4, is there anything else that should be closed up? 1. A wrestler is only considered 'entered' into the RR match once that person steps into the ring with both feet. 2. Only eliminations by a wrestler or wrestlers still in the RR match can be counted as a valid elimination. 3. A wrestler cannot eliminate his/herself (The Macho Man elimination always comes to mind and I thought it was stupid then and think its stupid now). 4. Anytime there is a situation where two or more wrestlers (within the final 4) touch the floor at the same time: The match automatically becomes a one fall match and the winner of that match is declared the winner of the RR.
  5. So we are 16 pages in and NO ONE has mentioned those weak strikes Braun Strowman (B.S.) was throwing against Lesnar. I never want to hear about Big Cass having terrible hands, Strongman was fucking ridiculous out there. NXT has a striking coach to keep people from having a striking performance like B.S. had tonight. Just fucking terrible. And yes, WWE should have went with the less predictable and still logical angle to end the show. Ambrose as champion would have felt fresh and been exciting, all the while letting WWE still run HHH/Reigns at Mania. A good narrative can still be surprising and remain logical at every turn. Re: Styles debut Keeping the camera on Reigns was smart. When Sting debuted at SS, I knew it was him as soon as I saw the crow on the Titantron. The delay between the obvious (based off the graphics) and the commentators chiming took away from the moment. With the camera squarely focused on Reigns, the viewers at home found out, not when Reigns found out, but when Reigns was CERTAIN and the commentators sold that moment. Reigns, the commentators, and the viewers at home were all synced as we were clued in at the same time why everyone in that arena was losing their collective shit.
  6. I'm trying to put my 'TNA' hat on for a moment and I can't come up with a logical reason for releasing a statement like that. Its bush league X 1000. TNA just doesn't come off looking good at all. Its the worse PR possible EVEN IF IT IS TRUE. Again, TNA had Joe, Aries, Styles, and Doc Gallows and pissed them all off and didn't want to renew contracts. TNA wanted to be cute for years and not build its own brand. Well all the guys TNA didn't want anymore are now in WWE and TNA is getting all pissy because it wanted to waste the Hogan years focusing around 90's wrestlers and do an ECW show? The chickens have come home to fucking roster and TNA needs to stop embarrassing itself. Sometimes taking an 'L' is the best thing to do in a situation like that. Chris Hero, Brian Cage, Trent?, and others could still potentially come in if offered a COMPETITIVE CONTRACT (that still allows them to work non-televised indie dates, etc.). TNA could still try and work out some type of partnership with PROGRESS. There are still other options to come off as relevant, competitive, and professional rather than making a long childish post that can be summed up with "Na-Uh! We had them first! Give them back!".
  7. Why not Sable? I am not a big fan, but she definitely helped the WWE business progress into its hottest era and was outdrawing Austin on Raw segments. Sable is an interesting character because of her duality much like Moolah. Both moved women's wrestling forward as well as backwards at the same time. If Lita can get in surely Sable can passed off that 4 year run. If a shitbag like Moolah can get in, I see no reason why Sable shouldn't be inducted.
  8. To Add some context to the Becky statement above (Pulled from various Tweets): Backing out of a signed deal of any kind = breach of contract with huge legal and financial ramifications. Not even worth an eye roll emoji. What I mean is if any of what is being said is true, wouldn't TNA be taking immediate legal action? Wouldn't the lawyers be the ones talking. This is the company that let me in on my contract status via Twitter tho so I guess nothing comes as a surprise with them anymore.Last thought...LOL at TNA flattering themselves; the only q's anyone is asking about AJ, Drew or Karl are about the RR & Bullet Club in WWE.TBH I never planned to speak publicly about my TNA stuff as I'm very old school & believe issues like this should be kept behind the curtain. But seeing them try to put those 3 guys on blast just set me off & them trying to leech off Bullet Club's success for attention makes me ill.
  9. The problem with a WWE sitcom is that WWE will incorrectly cast everyone just like they do on the main roster. Not only that but Vince and company will think they are making As The World Turns or some high-end art and so because of that we will get Dolph Ziggler 'acting' in supposedly serious scenes, that turn out to be some of the worse acting since Y.K. Kim in Miami Connection.
  10. I was in the mall today and came across this! During my shopping I was surprised to see that this same poster is in at least 4 different spots. Not sure why the image flipped and I am too lazy to adjust. Cheers!
  11. My girlfriend finally saw the show today and said..quote, "Paige got her boobs done!". I guess this is one thing we aren't living in the bubble about.
  12. One would think. It makes sense. However, its clear WWE doesn't want tons of people to truly being over, etc. 50/50 booking and all. The BRAND is the draw and not any wrestler. With that said, WWE knows that it doesn't have to put any effort into Smackdown and people will still show up for the tapings, the ratings will remain stable, and the sponsors are going no where. Smackdown has been floating for years as its WWE's 'guaranteed' money from the hardcord fanbase as Raw is made up of more casuals and fair-weather fans.
  13. My favorite thing about Bayley's reign is it reminds me of a certain WWF champion in the mid-90's that didn't really have top talent to work with all the time, but functioned as a 'touring' champion taking on all comers. Bayley is a nice transition point for NXT as Asuka, Alexa, Dana, Jax, Athena and Billie Kay are the 'New Generation' post Bayley's exit (and hopefully Emma gets called back up).
  14. She took that all on her shoulder? That doesn't look good at all.
  15. Angle's last opponent being Lashley is a smart thing. I saw both of the previous Angle/Lashley matches and they were really good. Hopefully these guys are given 30 minutes to do their thing in the ring and there is no TNA tomfoolery for Angle's last match. The double turn was nicely done, but its sucks because it puts EC3 in a role where he doesn't excel and can't live up to his true potential. There are guys who should never turn and EC3 is one of those people. I have a feeling I am going to have a real problem with Matt Hardy's wife. I have been able to avoid her work for years, but all good things must come to an end. Kong's weave looks terrible and I have no interest in a 2016 Kong moving at half-speed, a stale Gail Kim, and 5 women who are terrible workers. TNA should realize that the company has no obligation to keep a KO title/division around and its okay to send people papers. It still amazes me that TNA, years ago, was having a REAL revolution, but they pissed it all away to be more like The Divas and now The Divas are trying to be a little more like NXT...you know...what TNA was YEARS ago. I am glad Raquel is going to be on my TNA and I am just disappointed that TNA didn't give her a nice Brazilian first and last name. KOs going by one name only isn't as bad as it use to be, but I would like to see that element removed for some time as it makes the KOs come off more as "Candy" from the strip club instead of "Cher" the superstar. The new Beer Money commercial is cheesy and not a Phantasio kind of cheesy.
  16. So I am on the internet earlier today (SURPRISE!) and for some reason I ran across Phantasio's WWF debut. The guy was in shape, solid in the ring, and could do magic. I thought it was interesting/cool as a child and I still think its cool. So I just typed in 'magic' into Youtube and saw a video featuring The Masked Magician. I am familiar with his work and the 'controversy' surrounding him revealing Magician's secrets. The first video I pulled up had a WWE tie-in. My love of pro wrestling and magic was found intentionally and unintentionally within a span of 20 minutes. Scary!
  17. I remember reading something (NXT Takeover conference call?) where HHH talks about what USA wants and that what you see on Raw isn't 100% WWE's doing. He specifically mentions the 3 hour thing, but doesn't mention anything else specifically. I believe the initial question related to the 20 minute opening promos and HHH's response was then translated (by some) as meaning that USA wants the 20 minute promos, The Authority, AND 3 hour Raws when in reality I believe HHH only mentioned the 3 hours Raws.
  18. Re: Henry Henry's one promo made winning The Rumble seem like such a bigger deal than all the scripted WM sign pointing and mid-match stopping to look at the sign could ever hope to active. Henry cut another money promo after he was drafted to Smackdown years ago. Ryback cuts one of the most logical babyface return promos in the history of the business a few years ago when he returned as well. MORE of this stuff and less of the scripted bullshit. Re: PrimeTime Players I don't know what is going on. They team together on house shows, but not on the main shows. Titus is doing his own thing and yet the team is still mentioned on the main shows with Titus even coming out to the Prime Time Players music. The less cynical part of me is hoping that the WWE is allowing Darren to work off any ring rust, etc. associated to his injury (if these reports or even true) on house shows and in pre-shows where it really doesn't matter and for the most part is swept under the rug, because WWE has plans for PTP and having a Darren Young going half speed, etc. would send the plan to shit.
  19. I thought all this time WWE was only focusing on making sure the Divas' stories were synced with the main product, but after watching the whole Ziggler/Nikki/Cena stuff, perhaps this goes deeper. We have all heard tales about how the backstage environment in WWE is both politicial and petty. If Ziggler were to do what he did in real life, he would be jobbing, far from a title, having meaningless matches, and bouncing around the mid-card with no real direction. However, that is EXACTLY what Ziggler has been doing. Granted, this is due in large part of WWE not wanting any real stars and loving 50/50 booking, etc., but this Total Divas angle works on both the meta and kayfabe levels as now Dolph's senseless direction can be pointed to the kayfabe reason of him fucking up backstage code and being de-pushed because of it, instead of the real meta reason (as noted above). WWE has indirectly (depending on how you feel about conspiracy theories), just synced the career trajectory of Ziggler with Total Divas. Total Divas has done everything WWE Proper was not able to do in regards to making me like Cena's personality. I like John Cena the wrestler, but John Cena the man (outside of Make A Wish, etc.) handles his relationship like I handle mine. Calm, cool, and collected. His response to Nikki was the right response. There is no reason for Cena to cause a scene and make a fool of himself. Both him and Nikki are grown-ups and he has his expectations of his woman. Good stuff. Back to Ziggler! Ziggler was great this whole episode! He knew the material he was given was hammy and he decided to play it up. With Dolph Ziggler walking around looking how he looks- I am sure the last person he is obsessing over is Nikki Bella. Nikki tried to bust out her acting chops, but Dolph was having none of it. He knows whats going on while Nikki is hoping to use this footage in her demo reel. AND WITH THAT SAID.... Best: Brie Bella This is a controversial choice depending on where you stand on the debate. I have read about too many wrestlers ending up broke, disgruntled, and addicted to drugs and/or alcohol after his/her professional wrestling career has ended. The WWE schedule doesn't really allow for much of a life outside of WWE/pro wrestling which is why its always cool to hear when someone has a back-up plan (like DDP always preaches) and ultimately WANTS to work for WWE instead of NEEDING to work for WWE. I have no interest in seeing Daniel Bryan die in the ring, spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, or pull a 'Benoit'. Loving wrestling is all well-and-good, but its also good there is some voice of reason he can come home to that isn't a huge mark for the business that is working with him and a team of lawyers to get Brian out of his WWE contract and into NJPW. Brie Bella can be VERY annoying, but I think she was right on the money in this episode. Worst: Nikki Bella The confrontation with Ziggler supposedly happened (if we are to believe the editing) on Mon. 6/29/2015 in Washington, DC backstage at the Verizon Center. Nikki decides to talk to Cena about it on Sat. 7/4/2015 in Tokyo, Japan after the event at the Ryoguku Arena. Five days and two continents later, she decides to tell Cena despite running into him multiple times in person and of course having all of his personal contact information? Between the initial encounter and the Cena dinner: Nikki flirts with her ex, brags about an unprovoked assault, is condescending to a member of the press, and avoids having an honest conversation with her boyfriend all for the SAKE OF THE BUSINESS! All around just flat out terrible. The fact that the majority of this episode involved Nikki speaking in her whinny voice made it all the worse.
  20. Since 12/15, Titus has squared off against Stardust 3 times in singles action and has won all three of those matches without question. Toss in the multi-men matches and it has just been a straight up sweep.
  21. It depends on how one views Wyatt, but I have to go with him. Strowman would also be a smart bet.
  22. Even when they were doing stuff with Michaels/HHH/Chyna, people wanted to see NOA join up with DX, so when it actually finally happened post Michaels- it was sweet. Any wrestler who is in the business purely for the art and NOT making money is the worse kind of mark. Banging up your body and having no health care years later for what? So you can pop in a tape (or whatever the fuck the new form of media is) in the future and brag about your 5 star match that co-mainevented an event that was held in an arena that has since been torn down? I'm with Road Dogg, give me an $80,000 check over a HOF spot and I'll be happy...which leads me too... New Age Outlaws? Are they HOF worthy? Six time WWE tag team champions, The cornerstones of the most popular act during The Attitude Era, and not to mention what those guys accomplished in each's respective singles career.
  23. It was a combination of three things: pushing him at the wrong time, saddling him with a narrative that no one believed, and having Roman go out and do those weak sauce promos. WWE is in The Reality Era and has constantly tore down the 4th wall in recent years in order to pat themselves on the back. Part of this is the non-kayfabin of wrestlers' pasts, etc. Bulldog's son and MDM's sons weren't pushed to the world title scene when there were clear holes in their game and/or while the crowd actively wanted other workers at the top. Going back to Roman's character for a moment, has WWE portrayed him as a ladies man? No. Has WWE positioned Roman as a guy who is ONLY where he is because The Rock made a few phone calls? Nope. However, in this Reality Era, there are a lot of people filling in the blanks as WWE has help us due in the past and continues to encourage us to do using 'reality'. This is both good and bad, but when WWE decides to do the dance between kayfabe and reality you get the Roman Reigns backlash and debacle. Outside of Bryan and the booking, Reign's poor narrative has been his overall problem.
  24. Roman is hardly the common man Austin was that made Austin/McMahon so friggin great. I This is really what it comes down to. WWE can make Roman as strong as the company possibility could, but at the end of the day the narrative just doesn't fit. With what WWE told us at the time Austin was fired from WCW (the enemy), spent some time in ECW (which was seen as cool at the time), and was sick and tired of being overlooked. When people looked at Austin they could see the factory worker, the textile worker, the truck driver, the guy who busted his ass for years and just wasn't getting what he felt he deserved, so all bets were off and he stopped being nice and playing the game. Naturally when THE MAN sees Austin's rise and success, he now wants to shower Austin and help him along the very same path that screwed Austin in the first place. Austin of course declined. We have been told since day one that Roman comes from a wrestling 'dynasty' and has the personal phone number of The Rock. He obviously has the body type that Vince loves and that works against him to the jaded/smark fan as they know that regardless of Roman's work/promos, Roman will get a hardcore push. When people look at Reigns, no one sees (despite what may be the real story) of a guy who had to work for everything he got. Reigns isn't the guy working 9 to 5 barely making it. He is the guy at the club leaving for 6 different numbers and a girl by his side. Reigns is the guy who other guys want to hang out with to learn gym and diet techniques, hear cool stories, and find out where all the hot parties are happening. None of what I just described can be assigned to someone 'fighting underneath'.
  25. My episode just finished downloading! Time to grab a comfy blanket, get a bowl of my favorite thin mint ice cream and light my barber shop archipelago verbena basil soy candle and enjoy Total Divas...like a man!
