  1. I liked this match quite a bit too. It should land nicely in the top third of my matches when I rank things. Babyface's open offensive flurry was great. Fiera's flip bumps over the top turnbuckle to the floor were good. The working of and selling of Fiera's shoulder was nice throughout. Fiera's splat onto the floor in the third fall was amazing. I thought the third fall meandered a bit at times, but overall it was a lot of fun.
  2. I think I'm with Matt D on this match. It had some nice touches, like Mascara getting wiggly in the legs to block the surfboard (or whatever the plan was), and Jalisco collapsing trying to get back into the ring on the third fall. There was a fairly botchy roll-up attempt in the third fall that didn't look too great. One could claim they were exhausted, but it wasn't that long of a match, and they weren't selling exhaustion otherwise. Mascara thinking he won with the abdominal stretch was a bit far-fetched, but the tombstone piledriver looked good to finish the match. The crowd seemed fairly well into the match, which was nice. The dives were fine as well. Not enough heat though to get this out of my bottom half, most likely.
  3. Lizmark was pretty fun to watch. The first-fall pin was surprising with the one foot. I also liked the hug followed by a headbutt. I thought the third fall meandered a bit. I didn't catch the first few foul attempts at the end of the match, so I was kind of confused, but at least they replayed it five or so times. Lizmark's dive was cool. Overall, I don't think this will end up in my top half, although it did have some nice moments.
  4. I thought this match was great too. Great, intense action from the get-go when Perro attacks Chicana as he tries to get in the ring. The towel punches, fighting in the seats, and dives were all excellent. I only wish we got to see the head-shaving. I think I liked this more than MS-1/Chicana because it was more back-and-forth, and Perro's offense was more varied here than MS-1's offense was. I could see this in my top 5 or 10 as well.
  5. Solitario's wings were indeed awesome. Wagner taking over brutally during the second fall was pretty compelling. I agree that this match would be higher ranked for me with better filming, less clipping, but it's still a strong mid-range match for me.
  6. It was fun to see Mascaras chase Chicana around the ring. I too loved the lady bullfighter taunting Chicana. Was this match two straight falls for Mascaras's team? The clipping and camera work hurt this, although it was pretty fun while it lasted. Bottom half for me.
  7. I thought this match was great and a lot of fun. I'd love to see these two teams again, but especially Espanto and Santo. The matwork and reversals in the first fall were crisp and nice. The huge slam on the floor was amazing. The third fall's chaos was delightful. I had no problem with the DQ. Santo kind of reminded me of Hulk Hogan, self-righteously punching and shoving the ref, even though the ref was a big weasel. I loved the ref trying to hold Santo back and then holding Santo while Espanto kicked away, and then fouled him. I had no problem with Eskeletor; he took his lumps just fine. This could be in my top third easily.
  8. I kept waiting for this match to become awesome, and it did a bit by the third fall. The first fall seemed a bit awkward at times, due mostly to Talisman's kind of weak offense, just kind of bumping into Rocca instead of really hitting him hard. But some of the matwork was kind of cool in the first fall. The second fall was quick, and Rocca sold his back extravagantly to begin the third fall. Was Cota the second for Talisman? His head is oddly shaped, but I liked the vigorous towel waving after the dive/plancha sequence (which was bordering on awesome). The final submission was good; I liked that Talisman tried to hold out, but there was really no escape. Overall, this was kind of meh without much hate and will probably end up in my bottom third.
  9. Matt D picked up on what really bugged me about the first fall. It was the designated rudos-beat-down-the-other-team fall, and Fiera, Faraon, and Egipico looked really listless and sluggish on their offense throughout, often seeming to stand around or quickly slide out of the ring after getting a half-hearted blow from one of the Infernales, whose strikes did not seem very brutal in the first fall. I kind of expected a quick DQ victory for the other side when the kick-fest commenced, but that was not the case. The second fall was better, and the action between Morgan and Egipico outside the ring with the wooden Corona sign was sweet. The posting was epic also, but no blood? Fiera's catastrophic dive begged for a rewind. I really liked Faraon's dive, where he didn't sell being hurt too badly. I don't think the diver and the divee need to be equally injured on these dives. Faraon's dive seemed to hit the target, and he shook it off and was ready to get right back up. The powerbomb ending was good, but I didn't think that team would win. The first fall's "action" was hard to overcome, so this ends up mid-range for me.
  10. I have not been a huge fan of El Faraon so far on this set because his offense seemed kind of one-dimensional. However, I was nicely surprised here. Faraon used some fun counters during the opening matwork. Atlantis's flopping around was a bit much, I agree, in the first fall. Faraon's arm-selling in the second fall was indeed great, as was his missed senton from the top. I liked the fact that Faraon took a while to submit at the end of the second fall. Usually it is a pretty fast process. Atlantis's dives in the third fall are good, and I enjoyed how the final pin played out. This match, which ultimately will end up mid-range, made me want to see more Faraon.
  11. Yes, Cota stole the match with his antics, which are well-documented above. The other three played their roles well. Climax looked pretty low-rent in his get-up, but he had some nice moves and could take a toss into the corner. The final submission was wacky, but I can live with that. The video quality will probably push this down to mid-range for me, although there was nothing wrong with it and a fair amount of cool stuff, mostly from Cota.
  12. I thought this match was pretty fine. The first two submissions were indeed gnarly, as people have mentioned. Things did meander in the third fall a bit, and I don't like the pulling up the opponent after a two-count either, unless it leads to some sort of hubris payback. Which didn't happen here. The double-pin was an interesting ending. The head-shaving was quite a spectacle, especially Dandy's attempts to stall. I wasn't too bothered by the lack of blood. Villano III v. Chicana made up for that. In the end, this probably will be mid-range, but I don't recall being annoyed by this at all.
  13. I thought this was a lot of fun as well. Rayo's dancing reminded me of Mr. Wrestling II's inane but awesome footwork. Mocho Cota was indeed awesome throughout. I kept looking for him throughout the match to see what he was doing. I'm glad Log highlighted the crotch-face move by Cota. That was indeed brutal and made me groan out loud. Cota begging off at the end of the first fall with his hands in the air was excellent as well. I think Cota might have done one or two too many fingerless hand-in-the-air poses of triumph, but who can blame him, I suppose? I liked the pacing and variety of this match. It was a lot more unpredictable than matches where the technicos get beat down throughout the first fall but then come back suddenly to win the second fall. This match seemed to have more back-and-forth action. Good times!
  14. I think I enjoyed this match more than the much-beloved Chicana-MS-1 match. Villano III's offense is more interesting than MS-1's offense was in his match with Chicana. Chicana's tope was breathtakingly fast. Once Villano III was shot in the head after the second fall, it made sense to go to the end fairly quick. This match was indeed sleazy and gross. I had to rewatch parts of it to figure out what was going on. But I definitely loved it and will remember this for a while. This is top 10 or 20 for me, I'd think.
  15. I thought Atlantis was pretty weak on the tecnico team. I didn't perceive the early injury issue. I just thought he kept getting distracted and one-upped by Satanico each time they faced off, early on in the match. It made Atlantis seem kind of useless. I thought Ringo was much more effective offensively, especially early on, like when he dropkicked MS-1 off the top turnbuckle as MS-1 was perched up there. I also liked Salazar's suplexes that turned into tosses in the third fall. However, I didn't get it when Salazar came in the ring and just kind of stood next to Atlantis as Satanico was trying to remove Atlantis's mask. Salazar didn't even touch Satanico. Not sure what was up there. The match felt a bit disjointed, even though it was easy to see the animosity between certain wrestlers in this match. This is bottom-half material for me.
  16. The action before the final match-up took place was a bit confusing (I didn't know the rules) and disjointed. Faraon didn't do much for me and relies on his high kicks too much. At one point also he seemed to just let go of a submission and wilt to the mat. I did love Chicana's 100 MPH tope prior to the eventual Aguayo/Chicana match-up. Their match was very solid and hate-filled. I liked that quite a bit, and the ending was very effective. I'm not sure this will be in my top 20, but it's definitely top half.
  17. I was confused by the structure of this match, and didn't know who most of the people were until toward the end of the match. Dandy's sentons were indeed awesome, and I also liked the spot when Dandy jumped down on Cruz as the was stretched out across the apron. Ouch. Dandy's sell at the end of the match was nice as well. Otherwise, I didn't connect well with this match, and I think it will end up in my bottom half when the rankings are done.
  18. I loved this match, more than the Perro/Villano match. Satanico's punches, especially the combination shots on occasion, are superb. The mask-mangling and blood were great. Astro was on offense for so little of this match, but it still held together and kept my interest, mostly due to Satanico's sadistic offense. I too loved the pop-up headbutts and the gourdbuster in the third fall. For a mostly one-sided bloody beatdown and brawl, I think this rivals the first Sangre Chicana/MS-1 match-up.
  19. I liked this match quite a bit, even though I thought all the pulling the opponent up at the two-count was dumb. It was cool to see a dive from Perro in the first fall. I also liked Villano's dropkicks to Perro's legs after Perro missed the double foot-stomp from the top. I'm not the biggest fan of the double-pin, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the match, or the fine post-match beatdown of Villano.
  20. I liked the fact that this match was condensed. It still included a lot of dramatic and impressive moments, even if it didn't include super-long beatdown sequences like the first match. I was thinking MS-1 was fairly limited on his offense (kick, punch, choke) until his dive and then some moves in the third fall, like the neckbreakers. The bump off the dive at the end by MS-1 was super-impressive, as everyone has said. I also really liked the opening bit where Chicana takes several MS-1 kicks but the catches his leg and decks him. Great punches indeed! Excellent selling by both throughout. Definite top-half match for me, and it may not even be far behind their previous match when I do my rankings.
  21. I enjoyed this match. I liked the way Satanico tried to roll Cochise off of him in the first fall, but Cochise hung on. I think Satanico's first fall looked fairly effortless, which corresponds to the idea that Satanico was pretty relaxed in the first fall but then became more desparate. The third fall seemed pretty long, but it was full of very interesting action. Cochise's wriggling out of Satanico's scorpion/Boston crab attempt was nice. The ending was great as well. I don't think this will rank quite as high for me as it will for some of you, but it's definitely a top-half match and a fine performance by Satanico.
  22. The video quality was an issue for me, and this match probably will end up in my bottom half. I did enjoy it, though. Satanico was very effective in taking a lot of abuse during the first two falls. He kind of reminds me of a condensed Wahoo McDaniel. I thought it was odd that it took one of the partners quite a while to get to the ring in the beginning while his partner was being attacked for a while. The mask-ripping was good, and the missed dive was indeed jaw-dropping. I really couldn't tell what was going on with the finishing move. It was nice to see Faraon trying to revive his partner at the end. I wish there were some tighter camera shots in this match. Nice action throughout, from what I could tell.
  23. I really enjoyed this match. I liked the fiery start by Shiro. I also loved the kicking Satanico used to escape Shiro's holds in the first fall. That looked brutal. The successive pin attempts toward the end of the third fall were very exciting. I agreed that the both sold the exhaustion great by this point. I thought this was one of the best Koshinaka matches I have seen. The "low blow" was shenanigans on the part of Satanico, but he did it well, selling it as if he was making a case for that occurring, rather than actually being in severe pain. Satanico showed some nice viciousness in the second and third falls with his stomps and cut-biting. This should be a top-half match for me.
  24. I think I side more with Yo-Yo than the folks who really loved this match. I liked Lizmark's quick and painful-looking opening submission attempt. The first-fall sequence where Lizmark stands on his head with his legs around Satanico's head was odd but cool. I loved Guerrera pulling Satanico out of the ring at the beginning of the second fall to rub his neck some more. The crowd reacted great to that. Overall, this was a solid match, but it may not be too memorable for me. I also didn't totally dig the ending. This probably will end up in my bottom half.
  25. I thought this match was a lot of fun, and every fall had a lot of good things going for it. One great thing that hasn't been mentioned is Estrada choking an opponent with one knee, then the other, then the other, then the other, until the ref has to pull his hair to get him to stop. The timing of Estrada's dropkick in the third fall as he fights off one of Santo's teammates during the unmasking attempt is great as well. The post-match brawling seemed really out of control. I loved the money tossing at the end and the kids running in the ring when the wrestlers left. This match will do well in my rankings, probably a top 30 or so match.
