  1. Naughty Dog is pretty good about announcing a game/setting a release date relatively quickly. I know with The Last Of Us there was a delay, so you are probably right.

Recently, they were tweets from people involved showing actors in mocap suits for UC4. So I think it's still on track for a 2015 release date.

EDIT: It's also rumored that God of War IV is coming from Santa Monica Studios. I wouldn't be surprised to see the announcement trailer in December at VGX.

  2.

Tonight's episode is probably the best Dr Who episode in a LONG time.

No more Space Boyfriend for Clara!

    Really?

the moon is a giant egg?

Ridiculous premises for Dr Who has been the norm since the show begin, so I was willing to overlook how ridiculous what was tagged in spoilers.

It's simple compared to most of the 11th Doctor's run.

  3. IGN's review of Alien Isolation is up: 5.9

That franchise just can't get a good game made.

    Some caveats about IGN's review:

    1) The reviewer admits to playing the game on Hard Mode. Then it complains about the game not being very good (well, reviewer play it on Easy Mode like all the other game reviewers).

    2) The reviewer is also the same person that really enjoyed Titanfall for their preview saying stuff like "it's too much for my eyeballs." He also seems to be trying to please Microsoft (for a job there maybe?)

    3) It's IGN. They slap scores on games after playing it for maybe 30 minutes to an hour tops.

What I've been doing is using the "Live From PlayStation" feature to watch streams of this and DriveClub. Based on what I've seen of both: Wait on getting those games.

  4. Trophies and cheevos are one of those gaming things I just don't understand the appeal of at all.  Different strokes, etc.

I still have a couple of weeks left on my sub, but my WoW experiment is pretty much officially over as I haven't felt the urge to log on in several days.  Maybe it'd be a different story if I knew other people who played, but the basic gameplay just isn't enjoyable enough for me to use my limited gaming time on it.  I'd much rather play almost any single-player CRPG than WoW.

    I didn't either....until I Platinum'ed Sly Cooper & Thievenus Raccoonnus from the Sly Collection.

Then it was downhill from there and now I have 27 Platinums.

It's basically OCD planning/collecting about everything.

  5. Dear studio formerly known as Criterion Games,

What the fuck were you thinking when you designed Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit? Every car handles like shit, when you drift the car just loves to spin around and not actually fuckin' drift, and the fuckin' AI either stop dead in their tracks for fear of "OMG you might hit me" or rubberband even if you get in 6th place.

And review sites gave this 8.0 out of 10, or 4 out of 5 or such shit like that? Did they just play the game for 30 minutes before handing out the review score?

  6.

I was listening to a Who pod today and had a horrible vision of a Young Doctor tv show a la the new Gotham show, with teen Doctor, teen Master, maybe young Romana, and the struggles of becoming a time lord.

Oh Jesus Christ, this Whovian Divergent Maze Runner Percy Jackson Giver Harry Potter tween shit can kiss my ass.   I don't give a fuck if they are the new demographic hotness.

:Let them acquire the taste the same way we did.   This easily digestible portion approach to sci-fi makes me angry.

The problem is, it can work, but I don't really want them to do it either. Having teen angst would be a crap idea for Dr Who. Someone in Hollywood is probably floating the idea of J.J. Abrams-ing Dr Who.

I think Dr Who though needs a 'giant reboot' and get back to square one as far as what the show is about (and I don't mean Clara/11th Doctor romance subplots). Maybe have it be about the adventures of the First Doctor (in other words, he had other adventures before he went to Coal Hill with Susan Foreman). You see every other Doctor that came after (before?) him in him and you would get a glimpse of what the first Doctor would later become.

  7. You are wrong. Dead is dead. Anything you need any kind of revive/respawn from is a death.

I can confirm this to be true. When I did Flawless Striker trophy, the first few tries I had people I did the Devils' Lair strike with dying on me and at the end no trophy. Then I did the run without anyone dying and *ding* trophy.

So I guess the thing to hope for is for Bungie to raise the level cap by introducing more gear that goes above lvl30. Then whenever anyone does the Vault of Glass, they can cakewalk through it.

  8.

I wish I could get into the Assassin's Creed series, but everytime the story goes to the present I turn off the game and never come back.

That's a legit gripe.  I hate the present-day stuff as well.  I can't even fathom why it's still included.  There can't be more than 5 people on the entire planet that think that stuff adds to the games.

    *raises hand*

I liked how similar Assassin's Creed Brotherhood modern day section is to the main game.

  9. For the first time in my life, I traded in a game to Gamestop and it is Destiny. It may have been against my better judgment to do so, but it's for the best. I'll pick it back up later whenever Activision/Bungie get done counting the money and realize that 'oh shit, we have a HUGE problem right now.'

I'll just keep an eye on this thread but not comment anymore on it -- I think I have long since beat that drum about my dissatisfaction. Those who enjoy it, hey have fun.

  10. The Queen's Bounties are a joke unless you are under lvl20. The only weapons available to trade in are rare weapons (which this game seems to have plenty of rare weapons, so....they aren't really rare?) and you can do a Kill Order to replay a mission at lvl24. For people above the level cap, this is small potatoes. You get legendary items like armor shaders, cloaks, etc. but no legendary armor or weapons.

  11. Beat the main story. I liked the final boss/level a lot (the music for that section is incredible) and the ending is

    obviously saved for DLC.

I would keep this to earn a Platinum, but it would require me having to earn Titan & Warlock subclass mastery. Ugh.

  12.

There were people camping the Treasure Cave this morning.  That is going to get hotfixed really soon.

I did the same this morning.

When it does, I'm going to trade in my copy of Destiny. The loot drops are unacceptable. If Bungie is going to hotfix that and not give players better loot (which is why people were doing it in the first place), then their game is beyond hope. No amount of marketing and name cred will save them at this point.

The frequency of loot drops doesn't bother me because if everyone has special gear, it isn't special anymore.  If this game had a player-run economy, it would already be fucked thanks to item glitching.

The problem with this game is the stranglehold it has on Glimmer.  Every enemy you kill should drop Glimmer even if it is one or two units.

Having only certain enemies drop glimmer or having to item farm or complete bounties to get it is bullshit especially since Glimmer isn't just used solely as currency.

That too. The amount of Glimmer drops as well is ridiculous.

This is our future: video game design by committee.

  14. Saw Time Heist and the story was one of the better ones although a lot of the elements of it are confusing and degrades it. It felt like a bad Matt Smith episode.

Can't wait for Steven Moffat to leave -- maybe the stories will get better and be worthy of Peter Capaldi's acting caliber.
