  1. I didn’t even realize this was Marty & Shawn until I started it, that’s wild. Rose looks like the default build (in my mind) of a wrestler from the 1970s appearing in your local armory hall. Somers is like a skinny and lanky version of Rose. Shawn Michaels looks like a high school student. Even in 1986 or whatever, Marty Jannetty looks 40 somehow. This is such a mismatch in styles, it’s weird. Shawn Michaels was selling his ass off even back then apparently. Match is only like 5 minutes in and he already has color, lol. The crowd (mostly women it sounds like… I wonder why) is really into this, though. So that’s always fun. I like that Somers just grabbed Shawn’s hand when he was crawling for the hot tag, instead of furiously attacking him like is the norm now - shows he’s in control and not feeling desperate to stop the tag. I’m already over young boy Shawn selling like he’s dying of blood loss though. Crowd is on fire for Marty, holy shit. Somer’s taking a ring post headshot in the ring is unbelievable, since he clearly has to make effort to do it. Meh. Did Marty just blade from a Buddy Rose bite or did I miss something? This match went bonkers real fast, everyone is brawling, two ref bumps and now I assume it’s a double DQ and some babyfaces come out to clear house. This was… okay, I guess. I think I came away from this thinking Rose & Somers were the better ones in the match, but it might be because I’m overexposed and used to Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty’s stuff. I read a review (411Mania, maybe?) that said this show had two of the best AWA matches that person had ever seen, and this was one of them. My question is, if that’s true… just how much did AWA suck?
  2. That’s Rogue, not Jean Grey. She’s the ref for their pickup game of basketball (and she’s pregnant)
  3. not me getting nostalgic and emotional at 9am on a Thursday
  4. I don’t know if anyone else is playing Helldivers 2, but hey… fuck them robots. Holy shit. Challenging difficulty with the bugs is one thing, but you go down to even just Medium on the robot planets and you get your shit stomped in. It’s great. I hate it but I love it. I’m also playing Madden ‘24 on Gamepass and I’m shockingly learning football through that game. It took me like an hour to figure out what rushing meant
  5. Easily my most anticipated Marvel project in forever. X-Men & Spider-Man animated series in the 90s were my introduction to Marvel, so I’m here for this. I know it’s streaming so you can watch anytime you want, but it feels like a missed opportunity to not have these episodes released on Saturday mornings. EDIT: Ohhh, the show has its own thread now. Ballin’. I’ll be in here every week, no doubt. Don’t care if it’s just me. TO ME, MY X-MEN!
  6. It’s blurry art, but I’m pretty sure that’s Lyndon B. Johnson on the LIFE cover from December ‘63. A period piece origin movie, ending with them in the current day MCU matches with what leaks have said for around a year now.
  7. Ebon as The Thing is stellar casting, I love that. I’ve only seen Vanessa Kirby in Hobbs & Shaw and the Mission Impossible movies but she was great in those. Pedro is Pedro, that’s going to divide the internet but fuck ‘em, I’m here for it. I JUST THIS MINUTE found out that Joseph Quinn is Eddie in Stranger Things and okay, I like him too. Now just don’t fuck up the eventual Doom casting, whether that’s for this movie or something else. Please. Hell, just get Julian McMahon back. Let him and Pedro just chew the scenery.
  8. I am addicted to Helldivers 2. Goddamnit. I’m never gonna get through Robocop and Immortals over on Xbox at this point.
  9. The trailer has become the most viewed trailer of all-time within 24 hours. sUpErHeRo FaTiGuE
  10. I’d shit a brick if Julian McMahon’s Doom is in this.
  11. Hey, that’s Patch to you mister! Secret Wars #5 (2015) in the final shot when Wolverine is standing over Deadpool Aaron Stanford’s Pyro from X-2 is in there. This is gonna be a great time for anyone who liked any of the Fox Marvel movies. I love Owen Wilson in Loki, but Matthew Macfadyen is such a level up type casting for the TVA agent that’ll be along for the ride with Wade & Logan. Oh my god, sign me up.
  12. Of course I haven’t seen it, it’s not from the late 90s or later hahaha. I’m at work at the moment, but I’ll give it a watch Monday night and let you know what I think. This is Yumi Fukawa versus Michiko Omukai, from sometime in 1998 in ARISON. I stumbled across this about two weeks ago over on Joshi Puro Island on Reddit and the highlights looked fun so I tracked down the entire match. I hope that link embeds, it does when I made the post but it doesn’t when the post is published. Weird. It’s on Frank Pozen’s Dailymotion channel and is a fancam if that helps you out any.
  13. AJ Styles separated his shoulder in the Rumble four years ago but I’m sure you won’t be saying he should’ve hung it up. Shawn Michaels broke his nose. Cena tore his MCL. Shit happens.
  14. I’m pretty sure Rock was pissed because Cody said Roman’s grandfather (Amituana‘i) and Rock’s grandfather (Peter Maivia) would be disappointed in them both. But Cody slipped and made it sound like he was saying they would ONLY be disappointed in Rock. Cody insulted both.
  15. I mean, their sister company is the UFC. It’s what I was trying to say in the Vince legal issues thread - ain’t nobody asking questions at this thing, it’s not that kind of press conference. They’ve done this before - but more straightforward - with WrestleMania 30. It worked better here, because all I remember from that one is Daniel Bryan trying to do a yes chant infront of the media and it bombed.
  16. I think the key difference here is that the Bloodline is still (somehow) over as an act, whereas nobody cared about the Authority shit.
  17. Alvarez’s idea of Two Man Bloodline versus Cody & Seth on Night 1, with Cody/Roman and Seth/EC winner on Night 2, is the best option as of right now. You could also run that tag at Elimination Chamber in Perth as a “get your feet wet” type thing for Rock. If I was him, I wouldn’t want my first match back after 11 years to be at Mania. I’d want a little warmup first. I could also see a real possibility of Rock/Roman happening Night 1, Rock loses, and Night 2 he helps Roman retain because he acknowledges him or whatever. And then continue on with the story of him being on the TKO board and using his pull to help Roman out when he can.
  18. Sure seems like the next evolution of this Bloodline stuff is to run with the idea of a two man power trip. Also I’m absolutely lol’ing at Punk on that panel, talking about fighting bosses and taking out eyes and biting. EDIT: For anyone that didn’t keep watching, Rock interrupted Triple H’s interview backstage and told him to fix this or “he’s fucking fired”. Yeah they’re doing a two man power trip.
  19. Do you remember the press conference for WrestleMania XXX? Yeah it’s gonna be like that. Entirely kayfabe. This thing even has a preshow for fucks sake.
  20. The Marvels is on D+ now. It’s not that bad. I liked it a lot, actually. Absolutely do not understand whoever it was here saying Carol & Monica gave off flirty vibes. Did we watch the same movie?
  21. Wait, Sara Del Rey is coming to AEW? Oh shit.
  22. I re-activated my GameFly account after like 7 years, and grabbed Robocop and Immortals of Aveum. Haven’t gotten the latter in the mail yet (which is weird, they were shipped the same day) but I got Robocop today and played it for a few hours. It’s significantly better than the Terminator game IMO, and I really liked that game. Shooting punks in the dick will not get old.
  23. As far as TK’s announcement goes, I’ll also accept a women’s Continental Classic type tournament, which heralds the return of Jamie Hayter and the debut of Mercedes. But it’s probably just Mercedes and/or the Boston themed show ala the First Dance.
