Yeah. Phil and I are discussing this. It is established that Rodgers is a moron and a weasel about this. Let's move on to how the hell the NFL even let things get punted this far. I work from home. I am the most inessential person in the company. If I get fired today no one notices. The company I work for is nothing. They could go out of business tomorrow and no one notices. I had to take a pic of my vax card and email to HR for them to track who was vaccinated. The NFL is a multi-BILLION dollar corporation. You could argue it is a top 10 corporation in America. The NFL could not build a database for the roughly (spitballing here) 5000+ players/coaches/staff members? And then demand pics of vax cards be sent to them so they have proof (even if it is a faked card) of yay or nay? The NFL punted this on the teams to track. How can a multi-billion dollar corporation punt that all on the teams when it would have taken minimal effort and money to track?

Yeah, like with 3B, the voters really have no clue with Catchers. But too, the Sabr community hasn't helped with the pitch framing nonsense. When McCann and Russell Martin retired, you saw even the Sabr set talk about both as HOFers because they framed pitches better than anyone has every framed pitches before and that is worth eleventy bazillion runs...and that feels...sketchy. If the bar with Catchers of the Posey era now is that Posada and Varitek (not naming them as actually being HOF worthy but not dismissing them as inferior to McCann and Martin either) are one and done, then the Posey issue is not quite cut and dry. My gut is Posey and Yadi are sure HOFers. And I feel they will get in first ballot. That's more because of the talking points - and as Phil mentioned, the weaker ballots. (Mauer is a completely different animal because he was basically Posey's equal as a hitter and catcher...but spent a lot of time being a mediocre 1B. God knows what the score will be on him.) Posey has issues with a short playing time and a lot of injuries. His offense, despite the batting titles, is not THAT eye-popping where you can put him in the upper echelon of catchers either. And for god's sakes, Johnny Bench was not a unanimous HOFer. Why would anyone think Posey would be one?

Absolutely. The Bengals have zero presence in the state once you get out of the Cincy-Dayton area. Funny enough, I recently joked with Phil the fanbase make-up in Ohio for pro football teams is: 1a) Ohio State (Don't kid yourself, Ohio State is a pro team.) 1b) Browns (1a and 1b can flip-flop depending on how good the Browns are. Generally the fanbase is the same.) 2) Steelers (Don't get me started on the cromags who flipped to being Steelers fans when the Browns left in the late 90's.) 3) Assorted fans of other teams (like me) 4) Bengals Heck, when the Bengals threatened to move to get their new stadium everyone IN CINCY laughed at that farcical effort. They only got the new digs because they piggybacked on the Reds ballot move. If the Bengals left tomorrow no one outside of the Cincy area would care. Columbus is just a sprawling suburban area with no real personality. Most people tend to be transplants due to Ohio State, insurance jobs and a love of artery-clogging fast food. Their pride is entirely towards Ohio State - and secondly the Browns. Shoot, the town's interest in the Screw and Blue Jackets only has a minor pulse when college football season is over. There would never be enough interest in a pro football team in Columbus. Plus, you know, 4 other teams in the NFL would never let that happen anyway.

Oh, no argument about the growth of Columbus. But Cincy, Cleveland, Indy and Pittsburgh were there first. They are not going to let some new shop open up and take from a dwindling population base in the midwest. Columbus was shut down before by Cincy, Cleveland and Pittsburgh when the Colts teased about moving there from Baltimore. And at some point when the Rams were moving around there was a rumor about them looking at Columbus only to have Indy chime in the chorus. There's no way those 4 teams are going to let another pop up smack dab in the middle. And that's sort of the point as well, not only is the population base in the midwest dwindling (Columbus' growth is based pretty much entirely from the flight of people out of NE Ohio but even that growth pales to the Southwest), the economics of the midwest is iffy at best. Five teams in within a 5 hour drive in the midwest wouldn't make any sense to the league with the midwest having economic downturns due to manufacturing issues. And Columbus seems to enjoy its cowtown reputation because they really only care about Ohio State. Which....yeah.

Not to old man this by replying to something way late...but here we are. Yeah. No. Columbus is NEVER getting an NFL team. There are 4 NFL cities within easy driving distance of Columbus that have shouted down any rumors of a relocate there in the past. Plus...there is only room for one pro football team in Columbus...and they play on Saturday's.

Boy. I really fell out of the loop with the whole card market until this happened. Now I am just catching all I missed. I don't need a tutorial on all that. Where I am fuzzy is - I am seeing A LOT of hate for Fanatics with the natural assumption they will corner the market on cards (obviously baseball is a done deal MORE SO because they were already in bed with the league). Basically, I am seeing Fanatics has a bad rap for quality especially and their customer service seems bad. I've never had the "pleasure" of dealing with Fanatics. Are they that bad?
