  1. It doesn't hurt them at all, the opposite in fact. The crowd couldn't give a shit about AOP before. They've got a chant now.
  2. Is OSJ a gimmick poster or is he actually Alan Patridge?
  3. Batista's great and it's a shame leaving again. I've enjoyed Evolution, they've been pretty hilarious as the three uncool, generic gay muscle men with their shit skeleton posing t-shirts. Sheamus/Cesaro was my favourite match of the night. The mains were good but a touch too overbooked for my liking. I find it hard to believe how good a job they've done with the Shield. Putting all three over strong was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting the Roman Reigns show. Funny how it took a face turn for Ambrose to start fulfilling his potential. I like all three guys (except Rollins when he's near a mic) but Ambrose as a modern day 80s All Japan Terry Funk hits all my right buttons. And he's gorgeous. I fancy the pants off that man, don't know why but I do. Them two meaty fucks Rusev/Big E slapping the shit out of each other was also delicious. And RYBAXLE! I've always adored The Big Guy but Axel's watchable now too. Love them with their condoms on their head, acting like jocks from some crap 80s teen film. I truly hope RVD fucks off for good now. The Bryan segment was better than I expected it to be. Steph is gold at the moment. So vile. Her CM Punk comment and that hideous fucking face she made when Brie announced she'd quit were priceless. Even Brie was almost likeable. She made Steph piss herself with that slap as well, literally! Talking of which, shame the divas are still positioned as the piss break segment with the commentators shitting on it. God I hate them three idiots. They annoy me to the point where I couldn't even watch the midgets match. You'd think they'd watch NXT and get a clue. Yeah, good show.
  4. It's always been a spotty style. But it's the when and why you do the spots that's important. I think that's the disconnect between us NikkySan, I'm pretty down on modern puro in general. I hate fighting spirit, forearm exchanges and matches that are generally uncompelling until the ending run of tedious spot trading. The stuff that looks like a dance rather than a fight. Kana can be guilty of those things but her style of work is unique enough to keep me interested. When she builds to the big blows they feel earned. And violent. She has an aura. There's too many bland pretty girls doing pretty stuff. Kana carries herself like she would fuck you up. I like Arisa Nakajima but she's overrated. I've only seen two matches of hers that I would consider great and while she was good in them she was clearly the lesser worker in both (vs Emi Sakura, vs Kana). I do think she is very good at working underneath. Her body language, facial expressions, bumping and disorientated selling are great.
  5. Aja certainly does. None of the other joshi workers have had that longevity, she's still one of the best female wrestlers in the world now. To be honest though, I've never liked her as much as everyone else. There isn't any Kong matches that I find blow away great. There's a disconnect there, I just don't find her very interesting as a worker. As the lead monster heel Bull Nakano was more dynamic and Dump was more entertaining and about 20 times more charismatic. Even during her first run with the red belt it felt like she was overshadowed by Bull and Hokuto, who were more popular, had more personality, better look and arguably better protection in booking. That's probably why I like her more in her later career. No longer in the shadows.
  6. Is she the GFOAT? I know that Chigusa and Hokuto are the only others that would make my general GOAT top 20. If she was more active during 91-93 I don't think they'd be an argument. That Wendi Richter match above is excellent and might be her best moment outside of the La Galactica series. Not much of her later stuff is online which is a shame as I would have liked to see some of the Lioness matches. I love this match with Bison Kimura and it has the novelty of her working as some sorta ninja heel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDXzzPjtWZk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4nGKiX1Myo
  7. ♫ Everybody knows I'm a super woman Everybody knows I'm a super lady ♫
  8. I'm not suggesting that she wrestles herself. Kana brings the best out of her opponents by challenging them to approach matches in a different way. Brings them out of their comfort zone. Her matches are more interesting than those of other workers because they avoid the trappings of the modern joshi style. Kana's opponent's best matches are usually Kana matches. There are some other good workers our there - Yoshiko, Arisa Nakajima, Io Shirai - but they're horribly inconsistent and are susceptible of some outright turds. In fact, with the exception of Kana, a lot of the best workers are the classics. It's doesn't speak well for the quality of the scene when old girls like Aja Kong, Meiko Satomura, Chikayo Nagshima etc. are still the best workers around.
  9. Kana. That is all. Nobody else comes close.
  10. There's a reason why they gave Cody a mask, a moustache and a Goldust; he's bland as fuck. Solid worker and a good, underutilised promo. But bland as fuck. Cesaro is; Cesaro.
  11. The 'Closing Chapter' NXT promo and the Bryan match are the high points for Bray. Cena had a better match with Bryan and several other good to great matches, not to mention some excellent money promos. Bray's a fun character but his aura falls apart when the bell rings unless he's in their with a super worker (Bryan) or protected in multi mans. He's getting better but he's far from best. Cena is best.
  12. Good grief. Didn't you see the posts where Matt D pointed out this is all subjective or when Jaedmc said you gotta do more than expect people to vote for something that you like or else they're idiots? People might not want to vote Okada no matter what he's achieved, not because "eeewww . . its foreign!", but because they think the New Japan style is dogshit. Or they might like the style and just think Okada is less good at it than others, despite the fact he holds the fake world title for the fake pretend fighting. Get over yourself. For the record Ambrose is my favourite wrestler in the world, so fuck Okada.
  13. Hard one this. Punk was shit for much of the year and the endless Punk/Heyman feud was awful and indulgent enough to put me off Heyman for life. The Taker match was good though and I agree he had the best Ambrose match so far. Lesnar is a hulking ball of glorious violence but he spent the beginning of the year sucked into the shit of HHH. He's also been dragged down by the Show and Henry mini feuds. I don't care how much you try to tell me, "These two guys are beasts! They killed three prelim guys at once! ACCEPT THEM IN THE MAIN EVENT", Henry/Show have zero credibility at this point and it's a waste of Brock. Ehhh . . I'll give this one a miss.
  14. I don't like Tanahashi anywhere near as much as Meltzer and his mates do but I don't hate him either. I really enjoyed one of the Okuda matches from last year. I like his silly air guitar dickery. Cool hair. His matches can generally be boring. Masters had a decent match with Archer but nothing else really notable in ring. Hash I'm afraid.
  15. I like Rollins but he is the lesser member in the Shield. Kana is the only joshi to come along in the last few years that is worth a shite. Her kicks and her general offence looks brutal. Rollin's kicks and general offence looks really poor. Excellent bumper though. It's Kana.
  16. All I can say is . . I CAN'T WAIT until the Shield comp.
  17. Watching loads of Abdullah the Butcher on youtube. Love the big, evil egg. His best match is probably this fantastic brawl against Carlos Colon in WWC. It's a desperate scrap from the start, expect tables, cinder blocks, lead pipes and, of course, The Fork. Also, lots of glorious nut shots. I enjoyed this match with Hogan too. It's easy to forget how big a star Hogan was, even in Japan in 1982. Hogan wins my imaginary award for the most blatant blade job I've ever seen.
  18. Been watching stuff on youtube of my new favourite wrestler, Abdullah, and this wonderfully random thing from Puerto Rico turned up. Unfortunately only a couple of minutes are shown, the tease.
  19. I'm a big fan of Serena, one of the best women's wrestlers in the world today if you ask me. Her vs Mickie was enough of a draw for me to check this out . . . on Desirulez (and I haven't watched anything TNA related in months). Decent match, although I feel both are capable of better. Cheerleader Flash/Gail Kim was a big disappointment. Skipped everything else, except Ivelisse. She looked like a good worker in her gut check match so I was gutted to see that they had stuck her with that useless shite Tapa again.
  20. I'm still waiting for Rebecca Knox to show up. I kind of wish the NXT Diva's could stay put to be honest. It's nice to see smart, nifty women's matches that get given enough time to tell a story in WWE. I can't see that happening on Raw, especially now they're pushing the Total Divas thing.
  21. The problem with NXT at the minute is that the babyfaces are all terrible (except Sami, Emma and Bayley). That became obvious in the eight man tag match from this week. Why would you want to cheer bores like Graves and Neville? How can you take TNA -style idiots like Xavia Woods and CJ Parker seriously? Ohno won't make much difference, he hasn't got it character wise yet. They should turn the awesome Rusev face and push him as a Big E type deal. Or wait for Solemn Crowe and his mate from that workhouse vid to come up. They look like fun.
  22. I hate what they're doing with Show at the moment, that was the one negative about Raw (apart from the usual crap 'distraction' finish). He looks pathetic. For a 'seven foot five hundred pound' monster they've sure done a shit job of presenting him like one for . . . his entire career. A heel turn won't mean anything now he's already turned 893 times. It's a shame cos he's a quality performer.
  23. Yes we know all that. I like women's wrestling and it's treatment in the WWE is one of the most frustrating things about it. My 'white knight' line was in response to the bloke who was having a go at someone for calling the diva's division a piss break. It is. Doesn't mean I'm defending the WWE or think it's right.
