  1. Pardon if this is the wrong place to put this, but I remember Libertini making a bunch of appearances on a show that they used to have on Global on weekend afternoons in the early 80s. It was called something like Fairy Tale Theater but that wasn't the exact title (nothing to do with the Shelley Duvall produced series) ... they didn't do familiar fairy tales, they did more obscure folk tales that tended to have dark endings. Like I say, Libertini made a bunch of appearances in a fairly loose ensemble cast that at different times included Avery Schreiber, Peter Bonerz and even a couple of spots by Alan Alda. The opening theme song was a rearrangement of "Sing This All Together" by the Rolling Stones. I can find no trace at all of this in IMDB. Does anyone else know what I am talking about? Edit : Scratch that, found it ... the IMDB write up doesn't give away much, but I have fond memories of this show and Libertini was always great in it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303535/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_63
  2. Damn, I always thought he was hilarious every time he showed up in a movie or on a TV show, which was a lot.
  3. This was the same period when Elton John got on Soul Train. Not making a point, just that Elton John got on Soul Train in the same time.
  4. 14. Celine was a teen pop star in Quebec long before her mainstream success in the rest of North America.
  5. Bowie is pretty much the biggest music icon of mine who has passed during my fandom and it came out of the blue ... Zappa was pretty big, but I had time to get ready for that one. I was thinking I would be incredibly depressed, but somehow ... I find myself at peace with it. My wife and I are both really big fans of his, and I find myself just wanting to celebrate his art and his life. I'm going to try to avoid getting all maudlin, just one quick little annecdote that came to mind. A long time ago my now-good-friend-then-girlfriend Jane (she was the girlfriend immediately before I was dating my wife) were together and I had put on The Idiot by Iggy Pop and "Sister Midnight" comes on. Jane's immediate reaction was, "Wait, this is the same song as "Red Money!" " At the time, I was 27 and Jane was 18 and it was the late 90s and I remember being super impressed that Jane recognized a fairly obscure Bowie track from Lodger.
  6. Martin E. Brooks, who played Dr. Rudy Wells on both The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman, has passed at the age of 90.
  7. Sermon On The Mount! Humperdoo!
  8. I was actually surprised it wasn't Spare Parts, but second place is close enough.
  9. There was a great little moment in the last episode, when the Doctor is in his Mind Tardis and says "I need an audience", and for a clear second Capaldi looks straight into the camera.
  10. Off topic, but Orchard was someone who did the relatively rare reverse-General Steele ... where Henry Morgan played a one off character on MASH and then came back to play regular character Col. Potter, Orchard played a recurring character and came back for a one-off, different character, an MP name Muldoon in a later episode.
  11. Few people played beleaguered authority as well.
  12. In his memory, I will try the fish. Yeah, yeah, yeah , yeah ......
  13. My only slight disappointment in those Sid 'n' Susie albums was that I got all psyched when I heard they did a Mott The Hoople song, then was let down when I realized it was probably going to be "All The Young Dudes", which is exactly what it was (great song, but done to death). Other than that, love them, first volume was the album that got me into the Zombies, and love their version of "Go All The Way" (enjoy the awesome moment where Susanna Hoffs blows out her microphone).
  14. For all that I watched Adam 12 when I was very, very young , I confess I never knew Martin Milner's name until MST3K. Still don't know the other guy's name without looking it up.
  15. He's in this? Sorry, second best ... A Very Merry Muppet Christmas.
  16. I'm pretty sure Denis Lawson said he got an offer to play Wedge but turned it down because it would have been boring for him.
  17. Lillard was great in The Descendants. He also had a fun cameo in the all time greatest Muppets Christmas special.
  18. I don't know a kid who didn't have a crush on her back in the day. I think she is the source of my current thing that I have for women with short hair. RIP. Yvonne Craig, Julie Newmar and Barbara Feldon all influenced my young defnition of womanly virtue.
  19. Damn. Always a shame when you don't discover until after someone has passed that they were one of the coolest people in the universe.
  20. Makes me think of something Mike Nelson wrote after hearing that Val Kilmer had a reputation for being difficult, basically saying what the hell did Val Kilmer ever do that gave him the impression he had earned the right to be difficult?
  21. I seem to recall Big Finish doing some sort of wibbly wobbly explanation of exactly why Romana 2 got Princess Astra's face, but I forget the details (if I ever understood them in the first place).
  22. I seem to recall reading that Fenn was a single mom which cut down on the number of roles she took, not that she did herself any favors with her choices .... considering that Kim Bassinger went bankrupt rather than do Boxing Helena, some omens just should not be ignored.
