I feel like I ask this every year but how is Julius Peppers a HOF.  He is definitely in the Hall of very good I admit

He was on two different all-decade teams. He 100% belongs.

Is there not an Executive of the Year award? You’d think Texans GM Nick Caserio would get it for drafting the two rookies of the year (including the risky WAJ trade)

There is. Brad Holmes of Detroit (rightfully) won it.

Chip Kelly leaving UCLA to be the OC at Ohio State sure is a choice

My guy took a demotion to a different school in the same conference. What a backhand to UCLA, which somehow views itself as a should-be-power in football despite NEVER doing anything in football.

I am constantly amazed Joe Barry keeps getting work in the NFL, all these years after Rob Parker ethered him dead in a single press conference question to Rod Marinelli.

    What was the question?

The Wiimote was from Nintendo, and it's still the best video game controller of all time. Simple, elegant, and versatile. Not its fault that so many game designers didn't know what to do with it.

That controller sucks for traditional controls. Yeah, it "works" but it's not even close to a real gamepad.

I'm willing to give them some grace on the N64 controller since there wasn't an established design language for 3d controllers yet.

It's better than the Saturn's weird Nights controller and works fine to play AKI wrestling games, at least.

The Saturn Nights controller is great. I used it constantly...

Does anyone remember Mystery, Alaska? When it first came out I thought it was some wholesome family friendly movie, then I watched it a few years later on HBO, besides being pretty bad there's a crazy amount of swearing, it was like they were going after the Goodfellas record.

One of my all-time favorite movies. I love, love, love that movie. And, yeah, other than the profanity it's a pretty darn wholesome movie. I'm general. I'm not sure why they leaned so hard into the profanity. They could've told the exact same story with a PG-13 level of dialogue.

Yeah, I would say in retrospect that it seems that Bieniemy just wanted to take KC's offensive scheme and shove Washington into it, even though Howell + the Washington TEs are barely 1/20th of Mahomes + Kelce.

C'mon, having your rookie QB with 1 game played lead the NFL in pass attempts behind a terrible offensive line is the stuff of GENIUS.

The whole Bieniemy Washington thing really doesn't make sense to me.   He went from being the most sought after coach last year to being someone teams don't want to touch with a ten foot pole.   All because he was too aggressive and strict?   For a team that has been considered soft for decades why this is considered a bad thing says more about the team than the coaches?  I guess the final straw is when quality players like Terry McLaurin who nobody complained about with effort and desire were like "this guy is too much" .  Also didn't help that he made Sam Howell into a complete bust

Kingsbury makes me think that Drake Maye is not on their radar now and Jayden Daniels is their guy

    Was he really the most-sought?

Maybe he really is a jerk that's not that good at his job?

If Johnson tanked his interview with Washington so badly they weren't interested anymore, it's odd that they were flying to Detroit partially to interview him again.

But, also, I'm good with it either way.

The story feels like spin coming from a team who was spurned by a guy wanting to stay OC instead of becoming their HC.

I think, in general, fans/teams turn on head coaches too easily and blame them for too much of what happens. Not every coach can win a SB, most don't, it doesn't make them "bad". Not every coach can have a Top 5 Defense, it doesn't make the other 27 coaches bad. He was just Coach of the Year two years ago. While there are exceptions of course (like Josh McDaniels, notably), I think most of the time a team is bad equally by some other factor (players, injuries, bad luck) and not directly the head coach. The Titans were 54-45 with him as coach, the players seemed to fight for him (we saw that in the last week of last season), and he reached the playoffs three times which is more than a lot of coaches can say.

I don't even LIKE him, as a Bills fan I don't like anyone from New England or the Titans. But fans just look for any reason to jettison the coach, you can't convince me he is worse than Canales or Quinn. So, that's why I figure its more his personality holding him back but I assume he'll get another chance next year, they always do if they have some results.

His defenses finished higher than 12th once and 20th or lower four times.

by all accounts (including my own eyes) he was a damn good coach.

Based on what? He's a defense guy whose defenses are never good. He's had prime Derrick Henry but hasn't translated that into a top offense.

i'm going ice fishing this weekend. if you remember from my post last year when i went (https://deathvalleydriver.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2346-stuff-not-good-not-bad-juststuff/page/82/#comment-1271226), my leg got ran over and it was pretty gnarly. well, it's as healed as its gonna get. a pretty badass scar but no lasting damage. anyway, the ice isn't very thick but is supposedly safe. temps in the 40s the whole time.  we'll see how that all works out. anyway, i'll be drunk for the next few days. see you on the other side. if i never post here again, i probably didn't make it this time. otherwise you're stuck with me. time will tell.

I'm gonna suggest that you not repeat the "leg got ran over" part. Maybe just stick to catching fish this time 🙂

Glad you've healed well and hope you have a great time.
