  1. They needed to let Tensai cut just one promo to explain that he wasn't a "new" guy, that he accepts he used to be called Albert but that in honor of his Japanese training he was taking on a Japanese name.

As it was people were like "Hey, he's not Japanese! Wait that's Albert! lololololol"

  2. Besides, the best mini-game ever, regardless of game, generation, or genre is Blitzball in 10. Lord knows I've punched in twice as many hours in blitzball tournaments than the random battles.

Said it before and I'll say it again; A fully fleshed out tablet/iPad version of Blitzball would do great numbers.

  3. Picking the best actor in this movie is nearly impossible. I went with Renner after first watching it but I can see the points for everyone.

As for your spoiler: I totally agree. I would love to see a movie about the life and times of Mr Taleggio

  4.

I kinda want Brock to join the Wyatt family.

Brock would look awesome with an out of control beard. I could see Brock as a survivalist living in Northern Idaho. Eventhough he was 15 at the time, Brock would have gone medieval on ATF and FBI agents at Ruby Ridge.

Brock Lesnar doing a "Doomsday Preppers" gimmick = money.

  5. I can't wait for Total Divas season 2 when Brie is forced to go live with Bryan in a dilapidated cabin in the swap-filled woods while Nikki smirks about how amazing life in Cena's vast mansion is.

At least in the swamp cabin you can put your gym clothes in any hamper you like.....

  6. Can I say Anthony Hopkins in Red Dragon? He was amazing in Silence of the Lambs and good in Hannibal but by the time Red Dragon rolled around he was hammying it up like a Bond villain. He was just too over-the-top with it. The character wasn't anything resembling scary.

I've wondered if Mads Mikkelson's subdued performance in Hannibal was a response to that portrayal. Definately Gideon, who pretty much acts the exact same scenery-chewing way Hopkins did in Red Dragon but is shown to be nothing more than a Lector-wannabe, has to be a dig at the later films.

    Really?

I might have to rewatch it but I liked Red Dragon way more than Hannibal.

  7.

God - two sports movies I am going to hate.

Draft Day mainly because it has the NFL's AND ESPN's involvement.

How exactly do you make a believable NFL Draft movie without having the NFL and ESPN's involvement.  I would rather they use real NFL Teams in the movie then fictitious football teams like the Miami Sharks in Any Given Sunday or Washington Sentinels in The Replacements.

The Redskins should use that when they change their name.

  8. At some point Pacino seemingly deciding to stop acting and START YELLING ALL THE TIME.

It was when they gave him the Oscar for Scent of a Woman. He's been playing "Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade" ever since. I did like Two for the Money though and I thought he was really great in Ocean's 13...

My answer to the topic though is Will Smith in Seven Pounds. This is a movie that I actually liked when i first saw it but in the 3 or 4 times I've seen it since it really does fall apart. Everyone else is ok-ish, Woody Harrelson is subtly brilliant as Ezra and he makes me want to know more about his character, but Smith stands out as trying waaay too damn hard. He took whatever drama lessons he learned for The Pursuit of Happyness and dialed it right up to 11 thinking that more = better but he just pushes it into unrealistic and over the top behaviour in the name of 'emotion'.

  9. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was testing him for torch passing.

I looked at it like this - Ambrose has been the mouth, Reigns is being setup for a long burning face turn which will probably see him dethorne Ambrose for the US or US+IC unified title. This was a showcase for Rollins, to remind people that he isn't just "The other guy" in the Shield and that he will be a more than viable midcard-to-upper midcard talent once the group implodes.

  10. Take out the two six mans and this show was brutal. Add a reindeer suit match and it was your average Christmas Impact. They even had a pole match.

Is Barrett in jail? Cause you can't go around collecting money as a charity and then turn around and keep the money for yourself.

Natalya and Beth Phoenix putting LayCool through tables was good times because LayCool was fucking awful. If Natalya went out there and put most of the current Divas through tables every week it'd fix a lot of her problems. That and she should quit shaving off her goatee.

Cena kinda looks stoned, to be honest.

He clearly just did coke for the first time and the high wore off.

I think what really happened is that his Bella told him that she forgot which hamper her gym clothes go in, so she put some in each one.

  11. Not only is the match amazing but that promo from Regal was pure gold. He put Cesaro over huge but still made you believe he had a chance and would take any opening he saw.

Talking about missing out on the WWE Title... he looked genuinely hurt. I thought back to the KotR win, his match with HHH when defending Eugene... I wonder if he did too?

The best part was that look he gave when he finished speaking. He knew he was walking to his doom, but his villainous pride wouldn't let him walk away from a fight.

It was exactly what a promo should be.

  12. What the money terms in that contract tell me is that you either bust your ass to get to the top or you come up with a gimmick good enough to get your name/face/catch phrase on some merch. Cena/Punk/Bryan/Orton would be set for life but guys like The Wyatts, Shield, Ryder, Ziggler, Ryback etc are all banking on merch to move them from 'making a living' to having some real cash after they pay Mr Rotunda.

Obviously contract structures may have changed a hell of alot since then but it really shows why some many WCW guys were reluctant to re-sign up to a stacked WWE roster when they had been used to getting guaranteed cash from Turner. It also shows why Vince wouldn't buy out Goldberg, Hogan etc for the 'Invasion' because he didn't put that much on the table from the start - he wants everyone to earn their way to it first.

Except when he gives out 10 year deals to a couple of 24 year olds in Mark Henry and Brock Lesnar.....

  13.

They should have stretched out the Obidiah Stane story over the course of the three movies, and the big reveal in #3 is Obidiah w/ the Ten Rings & the Mandarin were behind the bombing that got Tony captured in the first film. Or something like that.

I like all 3 Iron Man movies as they are but this would've been a much better way to do it.

  14. What really hurts TNA is when WWE's developmental show is better booked and better rated from a critical stand point than a program and team who have been together for 10+ years and have had some of the best wrestlers in history on their roster at different points.

They had the biggest free agency move in 5 years with Angle. They had home grown stars in AJ Styles and Monty Brown. They had the hottest 'rookie' since Cena in Samoa Joe. They had the #2 babyface on the planet in Jeff Hardy. They got the man Vince couldn't in Sting...  and they blew it all.

On that last point; I wonder how Sting feels about his time in TNA and I wonder if he hasn't gone "up North" out of pure stubborness at this point, just to say he was the one "WCW for Life" guy who didn't have to work for Vince. No way he could look WWE the last 2-3 years and then look at TNA and say "I'm better booked here."

Vince/HHH would have him debut the night after Mania keeping him reasonably strong for a year; maybe a title win at Survivor Series, drop it at the Rumble and then work Taker at Mania for the big $$$ dream match. If he wanted to keep working after that then yeah, he'd be expected to put a few young guys over but that's what he's doing now so why not help these guys on the BIG stage?
