  1. Biggest upset since yesterday and Australia actually winning a match; which itself was the biggest upset since England got rolled by Afghanistan.  Looks like no-one is so good at Cricket that they can't be beat on the wrong day.

  2. This isn't what Buttler meant when he said that he didn't feel like England wouldn't be "defending" their title.

Joe Root had a quiet day with the bat but he took four catched and bowled another guy; finished the night more economical than any of the England pacemen. Where's Moeen Ali hiding? This was clearly a day for spin and not medium pace.

  3. That is the first time in quite some time that an inadvertant shoulder to the head has not been given as a penalty at the very least, and while I am not against this as a development from the standpoint of common sense, my glasses in this matter are very red, with little dragony wings sticking out of the side.

Although, in all honesty, I was pleasantly surprised to see Wales even make out of the group, so I guess there's that.

  4. Argentina are playing their other next-door neighbours, Chile. Chile winning would be hilarious; but the only real upset so far has been Georgia drawing to that mighty Rugby Footballing Super Power, Portugal but even that has happened before recently.

Everyone who thought Wales and England would be the first two teams qualifying for the Quarter Finals, raise your hands.

There better not be a single fucking hand raised 😉

I would have had Wales as the first of the Home Nations eliminated from the group stages, who knew the Australians were going to be so bad?

  6. I've lived through the inexplicable (to me) rises of the Spice Girls, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran and it is clear to me that I have know idea what Capital-P People like, I only know what I like. People are fucken weird.

  7. Wales just need to put their feet up; although winning the group and locking in a Quarter Final that they could actually win would be nice before getting the brakes beaten off them in the semi-final by, well, whoever.

Locking in the seedings for the World Cup three years in advance may well be the dumbest thing World Rugby does, apart from the head-on shot of the TMO during the (many) video reviews in a match. Then again, I would be quite happy to replace all replay officials in all sports with the NRL's Kasey Badger.

  8. The great thing about Sumo is that there isn't really any rules at all, only expected modes of behaviour that can be ignored whenever it's convenient; but also enforced on the whims of the Elders.

This one's for DEAN. I pulled up a random DVDVR to read and he reviewed it.

He was right, needed more of Koki Kitahara wrecking people.

I sometimes have to check which one out of Koki Kitahara and Koji Kitao was the good one: it was Kitahara, Kitao was a big Sumo name and also a creep and a slug.

  10. Newcastle become the 355th True and Accurate Champions of English Football, holding the belt for the 19th time. It's their first title win since 2019, although they haven't successfully defended the belt since July 2016. Only four teams have won the belt more times; but six teams have 'won' more title matches; with a seventh equal with them.

  11. Especially if certain Shane Warne cosplayers are going to put up historically awful bowling figures against South Africa. Any other nation, I might be worried for the World Cup, but all the good South Africans play for England.

  12. Top of each league gets a free win in the best of seven LCS; where they play the winners of a 3 game series between the second and third placed teams, all at the home of the second place team. This is a system I don't hate because it rewards the winners during the regular season. Home Field Advantage for the Japan Series alternates each year between the two leagues.

  13. I watched altogether too much nail-biting rugby on Sunday that I'm still recovering. In the other code, there was Newcastle vs. Canberra (admittedly that was on the radio as I went out for breakfast,) then there was Salford getting a try in extra time to sink Wire. The most important game was actually the League One Eliminator between Oldham and the mighty North Wales Crusaders; 13-12 to the Cru, late field goal after a knock-on got reversed into a penalty after a fight.

And finally in the World Cup, Fiji vs. Wales, my eyelid starting to twitch, flashing back to that hundred minute match against France.
